I went home to Australia in March of this year and purchased an LDV T60 Luxe (Extender) for one of the workers in my company. He tells me it is brilliant, 2 litre twin turbo, comfortable, smooth, leather, all the bells and whistles, plenty of gitty up power for what we need it for. I am happy with the purchase. 1/2 the cost of a raptor.

Hi Jason, You've pointed out some great possible small cars. At the moment, there's no need for me to get a car. Bolt is enough to get me around the local area. However, it seemed to me from your Bangsaray videos, that driving around that area would be a totally different experience to driving in and around Pattaya. Even though there is Bolt there, I would consider a car if Bangsaray was where I lived. I must get down there and check it out. Thanks for your interesting mix of videos.

Great video Jason. I purchased a 2019 Yaris. Sadly with a CVT. It doesn’t shudder yet I’m just waiting. 😂. I have found a very good mechanic for its first service. NT mechanics. There on the south side of Sukhumvit Rd on the cross roads next to the Tiger Park. He did a first rate job and picked up the same repair needed as I did. He charged a very reasonable price. I am going to use him from now on and will recommend him to others.

Another cracking Vlog mate. I agree Hilux's tops, Isuzu close behind (the AT35 Arctic Truck is awesome). Nissan Navaras & Mitsi L200 as theyre known in the UK, service intervals too short and always have engine and gearbox issues. The Rangers have issues, the MG I just dont know in a pick up, but getting models are getting popular in the UK, just no pick ups Ive seen on the road yet. I'd have an Hilux all day long, the King of pick ups (just see Top Gear!). Im in the automotive business too Jason, its a great insight for future retirement, my god though cars are expensive in Thailand, more expensive than the UK and thats saying something. Hi Jason🥳 I know not very much about cars or utes, but I do like my Triton Athlete 4x4. I drove many utes before purchase and the Ford was the best on the highway for ride comfort. Isuzu was the best for compartments and cup holders and Nissan had the best get up and go with throaty sounds😎. The Athlete had pretty much everything rolled into 1, but very much a "work truck" interior. So all in all it came down to the price and reliability of the Triton's history. I too would rate Toyota as top in field, but Triton really is too😎

Love it, actually 😉 Btw, in Norway they say "bensin" for gasolin too 😉
@goodvibespattaya Жыл бұрын
Hi Sarlina, awkward…. I have seen and heard of so many very bad ownership experiences, especially in Australia where the Ranger is at times the number one selling vehicle BUT there are major problems with many owners and Ford just cannot fix the problems and these are made in Thailand, many vehicles have been bought back by Ford as they just cannot fix them plus I know some Thais that work in the Ford factory here and they say “don’t buy one” but obviously they are not all bad and there are good examples like with everything. I would be interested to know how many kms you have travelled in the Ranger since new? Being a mechanic I have my own personal views and I am only suggesting vehicles that would suit expats with zero knowledge of cars that want trouble free motoring with zero issues and based on my experience and knowledge, Toyota and Isuzu are the go. Sorry if you are offended 😩

One category of cars that don’t hold their value in Thailand are Euro cars. Benz and BMW do to an extent, but VW, Volvo, Peugeot, Audi drop in value like a rock once they are out of warranty. The price of used Volvo S and V 60, S80’s, tempt me but figure must be a reason for low resale value?
@goodvibespattaya Жыл бұрын
Personally unless I had an unlimited budget I would not buy a euro car in Thailand, love them but just not a good choice if on a budget 👍

I agree with your car recomendations, ive rented toyota vios/yaris/honda brio amaze (simalar to jazz) nissan almera/ all been good cars, souless and characterless, the lot of them , i bought a ford focus"mk3" 2.0s (2013) 300000bht @ 80000kms, bangkok car,. all leather,, electric sunroof , brilliant sound system radio, xenon lights, led tail and drls, cruise control, electric mirrors, heated front,rear screens, 6 speed dual clutch auto with paddle shift, 17" low profile tyred alloys, rear spoiler, factory tinted windows, voice controls systems, hands free phone link, usb ports, etc,. Best and nicest car ive ever driven, better than my uk ford mondeo 2.2 tdci 6 speed manual titanium x sport,. boring japanese or engaging britishness, check out before you buy,.
@goodvibespattaya Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I hear what you are saying in terms of boring but for most expats a reliable cheap to run car might be favorable. I had a Mondeo diesel given to me as a company car for a couple of months and the dual clutch transmission shit itself and ford wouldn’t repair it even though just out of warranty and the quote to replace it was more than the car was worth. Your car sounds great, hope it doesn’t give you any trouble 👍

Hey Jason o can't believe the prices of second hand prices especially with high milage on them. In uk if got high miles usually 10.000 miles per year not kilometers the second hand prices drop especially if over a 100 thousand miles they depreciate less than half price of new.

@@goodvibespattaya just a quick comment Jason. In UK the best high mileage cars that really fetch big money are VW passatts especially 1.9 tdi. I don't know what u think about them but there the best car for high miles and only one that actually fetches good money with high miles

Next year's rollout prices for 2024 MG Vibe are AU$24,990 (BHT 574,292) and the Essence AU$28,990 (BHT 666,215). So the price of that MG 5 car seems a little inflated, even allowing for its age especially given that the MG 4 is renowned as a better car overall.

I would have a hard time finding a parking spot over there for my truck. I have a GMC Sierra long box 2 Wheel Dr. with a cover on the bed. It’s a boat! I’ve had really good luck with it. It has a 5.3 L V8. I have 260,000 miles on it. But you have to park in the back 40. Because the thing is so big. I need the extra steps anyway. I don’t know what kind of vehicle I would purchase if I lived in Thailand, I like UAW built union vehicles. I live about three hours from Detroit. It saddens me that Ford didn’t design the Ranger better! I would probably have to buy a Toyota if I lived in Thailand, even though I despise foreign vehicles, most of them are not built UAW. I’ve been a union worker my whole life, so was my dad. It’s hard to break the union mentality. I wished everybody could be union then we’d have a voice in this world instead of the man running everything. I would want some kind of a pick up truck that I could haul an Enduro motorcycle . And have a lift in the back for lifting the bike from the ground up into the bed of the truck. Not even sure if they sell those lifts over in Thailand. But I’m thinking a tundra with a lift in the back and maybe some of those fancy Pipe side rack kits around the bed of the truck. I plan on being in Thailand in late 2025. I’m planning on visiting several southeast Asian countries to make up my mind where I want to be just kind of slow travel for about six months to a year. Then return home and do the final sell everything deal. Then return to my favorite place. From the looks of things, it will probably be Thailand or the Philippines. It’s a tossup. I’ll pick Thailand just because of the food and infrastructure. Been studying and watching videos for quite some time. Now I got a general idea what I’m looking for. Hopefully I’ll find it! If not, I’ll still have my home to go back to. I’ll never sell my home. It’s in a spot where I can charge a decent amount for rent and pretty much live off the rent. My pension and Social Security will be just a benefit. Thanks for the informative videos and your mechanical knowledge! This kind of information could save someone a huge amount of money, and a whole bunch of regret buying the wrong vehicle.

Thanks mate, appreciate you sharing this and yeah your truck here would be massive compared to everything else and I’m yet to see any full size American pickup trucks here, we only got RAM & Silverados in Australia a few years ago and the Aussies love them but they are expensive there. Putting an enduro bike in the back of a pickup & traveling sounds great and very enjoyable, I hope to do more traveling in Thailand next year. Thanks again for the comment and your support, much appreciated 👍
