varg somehow managed to capture a kind of cheesy evil dungeon sound without sounding cheesy in things like Ea, and then graduated to just plain evil with Hvis Lyset and Dunkelheit. pretty much everyone else except for the likes of Emperor and Dissection sounds cheesy to some extent, in my opinion. Hvis Lyset sounds genuinely fuckin dark like nothing else i've ever heard

They change the atmosphere, but this is only good, because you seem to hear something new and fascinating, while familiar and native.
