Without strength from the calf muscles, the knee joint gets its strength and stability from other muscles and creates compensations.
Weakness in the calf muscles can lead to ankle and foot pain as well. Some people get plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendon problems in addition to their knee pain.

Greetings from India, Dr David! Must show this video to my wife. She has a knee problem brought on by arthritis and doesn't want to go in for surgery. She does some exercises every day. Has never done anything like this though! Thanks a ton, Doc!

The walk method you did tightening up each glute as you walk completely transformed my walking . I appreciate you , I watch your channel so please keep up the pod casts . I have a left leg medial meniscus tear that isn’t bad enough for surgery so I have to live with it. Thx sincerely . Here’s so Thing for you .

You are amazing I have only practiced a few of the therapeutic exercises and the relief is noticeable after a couple years of persistent trouble in my knee. I went to a doctor and he started talking about replacement surgery right away!!! I was horrified!!! Needless to say I never went back to that doctor and am seeking out non-surgical relief. Thank You!!!

I’ve been doing the glutes muscle workout for my knees and it’s working like magic in less than 4 days my pain went down by 70% at least. So I’m a believer. And I will be adding these calf exercises for sure. Thank you man so much.

Thank you. You explain extremely well. I have knee pain in left knee since 15 years and now right knee also paining. I am 56 years old. I can walk for 100 metres and then need to rest for around 10 seconds before i resume again. Would u recommend knee replacement ?

Im here with a meniscus issue, scheduled for an MRI next week, but your videos have helped me understand what may be going on and find relief. I have a hard time curling my toes. I had surgery on both feet, to repair extensor hallucis longus about 20 years ago. Those tendons are still really tight. Is there a good way to work on stretching them in addition to this exercise? Thanks for your straightforward, informative videos. I love that you get right to the point, explaining the signs and symptoms, what may be causing them, what to do and why it works!😁

Thank you doctor. I have osteoarthritis in my left knee and was taking regularly painkillers but since I have been doing the exercises you recommended for knees I haven't taken painkillers in 2 months. Very very mild pain some days no pain. Thank you and God bless you

Thank you again for your great explanations David, it makes a big difference to doing exercises when one understand what the point of it is. I have a query though: I remember watching another video of yours when you were saying that our knee problems come from our muscles being too strong and therefore putting too much pressure on our knee joints. Was that only the case for the thigh muscles?

I’ve got knee pain…the crunchy kind, but trying to preserve my knees until something better than knee replacement comes along. Figured out my feet are messed up because I’ve got a sore big toe joint. Bunion maybe it’s called? Painful going down stairs or overuse. Found you and I’ve been stretching everything, holding, and the exercises and it’s making a difference! Thank you!

Great information.. Thank you Dr. I was given a chance to look at your KZbin when I needed the most. Recently I had dislocated my knee and having issues with knee pain. Accidentally I hit upon this. Am practicing it. Could see the difference. Thanks again. Very good service to people.

My problem is short toes, plus having had two separate ops to correct bunions. I don't have particularly flexible feet. I have an ankle problem caused by - I'm 100% sure of - my knee bursitis. My walking speed has slowed as I unable to use my kneed properly, which puts a strain on the foot and ankle. A physio advised me to do calf strengthening exercises, and I'm going to try the methods in this video, too.
