What stuck out to you the most about this game? On rewatch.... red was way too kind to us, and I think that greatly imbalanced the game

Your opponent's lack of sense of urgency, they just kinda let it happen to them.

At the end of the game. Any steal but ore was winning - you get settle or city. Should have targeted a steal from a player without ore. Red hit a 6 then double popped, so he may have had the lowest % ore. But otherwise well done, clean W.

@@FlorisDeLeeuw definitely, the pros of a table that was not super chatty!

@@mjd0701 just came to comment the same, had to steal from red, 4 out of 6 cards he had would've given you the game that turn. Steal wheat or brick from him and 3:1 the ore. Anyway ggs

Black here! First of all it was so fun getting to play with you, and it was really cool to watch it back from your perspective. I remember thinking you were getting much too generous trades, and I still feel that way from a results standpoint but seeing your side of things makes me realize you were capitalizing on that loose trading so well by making smart and specific trades. Some key moments I noticed- playing aggro knight to try to extort blue and not blocking you at all. Definitely should not have wasted that power to fish, but was feeling the pressure of red buying devs. It was a classic case of the road player benefitting from an army race, which ultimately comes down to your clever objective based placements more than any trades or robs. Glad you ended up posting, and hope to see you in another game soon- also I’m right behind you on the leaderboard now so watch your back, I’m coming for that #1 Masshole crown!

at 18:36 couldn't you just rob red? he got 3 brick and wheat, any of which would give you the win

I think you are right, I didn't have a good idea of what people had in their hand at that time unfortunately

congrats on all the success and really enjoy the videos! Only one Q - I noticed you often road then dev on turns instead of popping dev first - why not do them in reverse? you might get YOP or RB that could dictate if you should still drop a road that turn or wait until next turn.

it's great advice and definitely something i need to change haha. good catch! EDIT: also thank you!!

at 12:15 why do you opt to build a road and pass and not just build the 2nd road which you'll need anyway.
@rmendeljacobs28326 күн бұрын
Similar question at 10:25, you were about to build a road and then you said , "eh, let's let it ride" and then you said something about the block on the 6. And then you wondered if you blew your load too soon - not sure what that refers to either.
@hughcatan6 күн бұрын
i tend to do that so as to avoid looking like i'm close to my next point. i still have the road but it's a little threat management
@hughcatan6 күн бұрын
blew my load too early was referring to my pacing. i was very far ahead of everyone else at that point so we would get robbed and blocked a ton!

What does "pop" mean? e.g. @6:57
@hughcatan7 күн бұрын
it's a catan slang term for buying a development card... "pop a dev"

You got good rolls, but you also picked a setup that guaranteed you road. If I were red I'd have taken 6-3-11 out of principle/spite.
@hughcatan6 күн бұрын
yeah I got a favorable setup. the hard part about red taking the 6 3 11 is that they would get locked out of wheat because i beat them to the 9 10 2 every time
