Just to let you know, the rubber part for the D ring is supposed to stay on. It will protect soft shackles or tow straps and keep it from rattling also.

Chevy guy told me the pockets are left open to double as handholds to assist you getting in the bed

This new generation !! Really !! The pockets are left open to Install Bullrings for the ability to tie down cargo from above that’s what you should have ordered rather than stake pocket covers !!! The two upfront are left so if you choose you can cut them out and drop Bull rings in for optimal tie down . This feature is alot move useful than pocket covers !!
