Poland is the most broken Civ. A free social policy every era means you can open rationalism as soon as you get into renaissance, and a 2nd tier tenet when you found an ideology though modern era advancement. Plus, there are single tenets and policies that are more powerful than the civ bonuses themselves. (5 year's plan, for example)

I usually find Brazil and Assyria quite bad. Brazil usually starts in jungles, and while they improve them through their Brazilwood camps, it is not enough to make up for this. Jungles are terrible, limiting in both early game resources, versatility and movement. The tourism bonus is quite small, considering it really is the only bonus in it. Assyria on the other hand is just plain worse than other war civs, from my experience. The technology taking is often insignificant, since decent strategy allows you to keep a technological advantage. My list would be: 1. Egypt 2. Korea 3. Babylon 4. Poland 5. Huns The worst are: 1. Iroquois 2. Netherlands 3. Denmark My favorites: 1. Venice 2. Poland 3. Shoshone
@WSGproductions8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in the early game Brazil does struggle with movement but we also saw them as a defense for invading Civs. However, the Brazilwood camps d also boost gold and science which is a great way to offset the early game resources Brazil lacks. Brazil does seem to struggle a bit more than the other Civs on this list but played correctly does have the ability to dominate matches. At least in my opinion.
@Catangerine8 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but putting both Brazil and Assyria in the top 5 civs is just wrong, both of them are bad civs with bonusses that are insignificant compared to the bonusses other civs have.

This enables you to crank out great people such as artists and musicians to obtain many times more great works than anyone. Also the A.Is will attempt to be-friend you for the 10% boost allowing Open borders to further increase tourism.

Due to it's start bias and Uniques if you get a combination of Desert Folklore (religious) and Petra then you have an amazing time with a mass of gold and prosperity. This allows for advances into any of the victory types due to completing certain trees and purchasing buildings with gold and great people with your abundance of faith + gold.

Inca, Babylon, Aztec, Poland, Korea, Maya. Can't name a top 5 out of these 6, they are all just god-tier in single player. These civs have consistent and powerful science bonuses, either directly or through growth/culture. Civs that make you inclined to build wonders are bad, at least on Deity, since Deity is won quite easily as long as you are not tempted to build wonders (until you know you are first to the tech that enables them) but just build infrastructure and military. Civs that help early game defense through units or production, or otherwise have a good early game, are also good picks. Exmples are Huns, Russia, Persia and Greece.
@Tsunami19725 жыл бұрын
Of these 5, Korea is probably the only one I really agree with. It's definitely one of the top 2-3 civs, maybe #1. I think Rome is better than most of these. 25% bonus toward building construction for anything already built in the capital makes expansion cities build most of their buildings in only 80% of the time. Greece is another. Their bonus with city-states ends up giving you tons of extra culture/faith/happiness/food/resources as you make friends and allies, as well as giving you a lot of extra military to harass your enemies in wartime. Late game, you can easily solo vote yourself world leader for a diplomatic victory. I've just started trying the Shoshone, who are also pretty good. Their Scout replacement (Pathfinder) is very strong, upgrades to a composite bowman, and the best thing about them is they get to choose the reward from ruins. Their special ability to start with more land when they settle instantly gives you a lot more valuable tiles when you start a city. Upgrade 1-2 Pathfinders to Comp Bowmen super early, and clear barbarians like crazy to earn culture (with Honor) and city-state quests. but then, I guess it depends on play style. I prefer to rush Wonders and expand for faster culture accumulation. I think the global bonuses from certain wonders and policies make victory so much easier, and is better than amassing a huge army for conquest.

Against a competent player, that Jungle start will get you slaughtered long before mid-game. Top 5 are Poland for their incredible amount of free social policies, Persia for that movement bonus during golden ages, Babylon and Korea for that ridiculous science boost, and Attila for that early game hammer bonus and horse archers. Other contenders could be the English for getting early range 3 units, Egypt for those unique chariots of theirs, Chinese for their Chu-Ko-Nu and extra generals which will help them dominate medieval warfare. Nope, his list is for professional multiplayer, while I beleive most people will just play casual singleplayer. Just to show how different singleplayer and multiplayer is: -For example, he put Arabia in tier2 just because it's so OP that everyone will try to delete you before the medeival era. Neither bots nor 90% of multiplayer players will do that. -Similarly, Venice is the worst possible option in multiplayer, and possibly the best in singleplayer. -The other way around with Egypt. In MP you get all the wonders, while in SP you can't have any. And one last thing: you may not want to look for the most powerful civ, but possibly the one you have the most fun with :)

Egypt (Wonders) 4. Celts (early start) 5. Austria (City States) Most boring civ: 1. Venice (only one town) 2. Ethiopia (small empire) 3. India (Small empire) 4. Byzantines (religion and Underpowered) 5. France (cultural is mostly boring) Korea is moved down to 4 due to slow start and is at risk early game, especially at Deity. Actually this depends whether you are playing against randoms or against friends. All in all however, culture is shit, human players don't give you open borders or anything when they see you are building culture wonders. Diplomacy is impossible since players will take all the city states and (if playing with friends) cooperate to prevent you from getting UN votes through. You are left with science and domination. And IMO best civs are some sorts of combinations of these 2 preferably with religion to boost either one. In our multiple games our tier list would look something like this: S: Babylon (science) Inca (good spawn with high production and ability to defend its lead due to hills) The Zulu (domination) A: Maya Arabia Ethiopia Aztec China

Japan's ability is worse than it sounds. You don't want to attack with injured units. You want to retreat them and heal them up. The ability is only really useful for naval units and air units that can't be healed as consistently to begin with. Japan's other bonuses are even worse. The culture from Fishing Boats and Atolls is very situational and both of their UUs replace bad units.

You need to explain why the bonus is good and how it's better than a "plain" civ, not just what the bonus is. This needs some serious work on the analysis.

Poland didn't make the list... Pretty sure Poland are the best all-around civ and can achieve the fastest possible science victory... Also Atilla can take cities on turn 5... They could take out half the civs before the mid game...

Does anyone agree that Russia is the best Civ for domination victories with the production boost and double uranium? Or am I missing a leader

Egypt is a very weak Civ. If you're good enough time to make use of the Wonder bonus, you should be playing on at least Emperor, in which case the only 2 Wonders you'll ever be able to build are Stonehenge and Pyramids because the AI will take the rest before you even have the tech for them until the modern era. And you can build those 2 comfortably without the bonus because the AI never seems to go for them. In multi-player, Wonders are too risky to build until an Era later than they're researched; Egypt mitigates the risk, but not enough that it will help you win because an extra military unit is usually better than mid or late game wonders and an opponent could get Marble eliminating your advantage in early game. Also funny that Korea is the only one mentioned that is ever banned from multi-player games. China, Arabia, Greece, Huns, and England are all usually banned. Frequently Spain and Shoshone are as well. That leaves America, Poland, Russia, and Ethiopia as the ones to get good with. Indonesia is excellent at Fractal maps, but those are rarely played, and you'll be fighting 5 other players for them so don't plan on using that advantage.

I forgot Rome, fantastic for large maps, mediocre for the far more commonly played small maps.

I don't like Brazil because of the jungle-bias. So you cannot move your Settlers and you won't have production...
