These were all so wonderful. I don't get out much, so I don't know if I should know who the singers were. Their expressions of the song were all so lovely. And yeah, Jeff Buckley's was a cover, but Leornard's didn't get much notice until the unfortunate and untimely demise of Mr. Buckley brought the soulfulness of his cover to prominence. My very favorite version is the one on "Leonard Cohen Live", but I have to admit that I didn't even go back and play it repeatedly to grab every nuance until after Jeff Buckley's recordiing transfixed my ear to his voice.

I still have yet to hear a version of this song that's exactly how I want to hear it, either they don't sing out hallelujah w/ enough soul or they sing some parts a little too fast. In this case, all of them have beautiful, amazing voices, they were just pretty quiet which isn't my favorite w/ this song.

I feel like the best cover out of the ones chosen was the second one. I don't know, all the other ones were lacking, and although he tried to replicate the same sound as Jeff (which he did splendidly) I feel like his cover brought more emotion than the others. My opinion, which is as good as any other, nevertheless, how I feel about your choice. Generally, I agree with your choices, but not today I'm afraid.

The second guy either needs to adjust his microphone settings or learn breathing techniques. While it is a certain type of "trend" to hear the gasping between lines, it's improper and quite bothersome to many listeners.

I can't stand to see kids singing this song when they have no concept of its meaning. How does a 16 year old know what a broken love and destructive relationship that is redeemed feels like? How can they smile during a verse about pain? How can people smile through the whole song and think it's about God's love or some shit? Great voices, two of them,.....embarrassing to the song. "Shawn Mendez does it so I'll do it too". Sad

Maybe because poetry does have different meanings for different people...young kids too can relate to it, romantic love is not the inly source of pain and tribulation. We all , including kids , have our own types of betrayals and deceptions to mourn about.
