I wish all of the protesters in our country could spend one month in North Korea. I think that 90% would change their thoughts of the United States. There will always be that crazy 10% though.

Thank you Cherie for sharing these culture shocks when you first came to the US. Usually this isn't such a big deal, but since you came from a country that isolates its population from the world, this topic is well deserved. Such a great video!

Exercise isn’t only for loosing weight, in fact, these days many people are using it for body shaping, building muscle, loosing bodyfat. While this is perfectly normal here, it is a radical idea in many countries where food is scarce, the idea of a “diet” to loose weight is a crazy thought, or eating specifically to build and shape your body. While I am born and raised in this country, the older I get and the more I learn of the world, the more I realize how radically rich this country is.

American food has a lot more garbage in it too. Many other countries wouldn't allow the GMO junk that we have.

This is such an eye opening video Always super insightful to hear about your experiences, I hope to all hope that more and more people can safely escape North Korea, and that our countries will welcome them with open arms It also frustrates me that NK parades around calling itself a communist country, it doesn't in the slightest abide by communist principles and the whole world has been catfished into thinking communism is something it's not 🙄

My grandparents came from the USSR (Kazakhstan) to Germany and also saw it as a different world lol. They weren’t used to such a thing as full shops. Or toilets or electricity…all the things you take for granted when growing up in a Western country. In the USSR too they put you in camps and whip people half to death who share their bread with disabled people in the midst of Siberian winter. They could do a lot of sht without rule of law. That’s why you need it a democracy with healthy institutions. Russia had that for a few years until 1993 after it was too late and now you have Putin..

Hi Cherie, I've been following your channel for quite a while. What made you want to choose the northern United States in which to settle? I noticed that both you and Yeonmi Park decided to settle in the north. Also, please tweet more on Twitter. I'm following you there as well, and i spend much more time on Twitter than KZbin.
