Here's another time saver. If you're wanting to start or open a new scene, it's way faster to just close Daz altogether, open it, then start a new or load an existing scene. If you just load a scene, or click the new scene under file, Daz will take forever to clean the old scene out of memory and start the new.

For the hiding part usually I hold CTRL and click on the show/hide eye button in the scene tab.. that way all other props, accessories etc parented with the figure or prop will hide or show.

Another great tip. I'm a bit of a creature of habit, I use groups more than anything else to keep my scenes organised and this "Habit" kinda stems from there. ShoutOut

@@GameDeveloperTraining I use a ton of groups as well. I love to "try" and keep my scene organized. Right now I'm working on a scene of 2 characters in a car driving through a city. Great to put everything including lights and cameras in that one scene and easily move it down the road to do my next render but keep camera and lighting exactly where I want it.

Groups are kinda better for hiding characters but they both have their correct usages. Groups is to me better because is hides its content "as is" where the crtl click will hide EVERYTHING in the hierarchy, and (here is the issue) it will show again EVERYTHING in the hierarchy when showing the item again. The reason I dislike that is that when I create a new character I often leave some hiding clothes that I simulated and tried out but swapped to something else. Which means my character will have maybe 4 dresses with 3 hidden ones. When using crtl click to show the items again, all those hidden/not used items will be shown again. On the contrary the group will keep the whole what's hidden and wha'ts not hierarchy in place properly. But the ctrl click is still useful for stuff like necklaces with sub objects in their own hierarchy. Cause sometimes when hiding let's say a shirt, the button will still be visible. For this the ctrl click function is the one you want.

Great tips, I use a lot of these all the time. I wasn't aware of changing the render settings to get rid of black lines in the eyes. I'll have to use that in the future, so far I've only been reapplying the eye material to the character to fix it, this would be much easier if it works for me! One tip, or tips, I love sharing is using both your Right and Left mouse button on the white icons at the top right of the main view port to get different controls. The top 3 of them do different things based on which mouse button you use. As an example the top button is a dot with a curved arrow going around it. LEFT mouse button will rotate your camera around the object you have selected in the scene. If you use the RIGHT mouse button it keeps your camera in space and just rotates it so you can pan around. A very useful one is when you are in Perspective View. The small white Magnifier Glass icon will move your Perspective View closer or further away when using your LEFT mouse button. Changing to your RIGHT mouse button will ZOOM your view in and out but it keeps your Perspective View "camera" in the same spot. With a real camera in DAZ you can change it's perspective view but I'm not aware of another way to change the Zoom for Perspective View. This is very useful when posing and setting up a scene in a tight area with objects behind where you need to view. Use RIGHT mouse button to zoom out in Perspective View and you can get extremely close to the object without your view clipping through the object you are looking at or whatever is behind your Perspective View point in 3D space.

Nice. I'm usually a clickety clickster (click on stuff and see what happens is how I've learned most things) I don't think I've even thunk to try the other button with the cameras....but I will. Sounds really handy. I liked the "hand cameras" and stuff in Poser. I think this is a forehead slap moment...doh! Poser's morph tools are lot easier to use I think but I haven't spent much time in Daz yet really. Just recently got something decent enough to play with it on. I don't put a lot of money into my own computer stuff but I've worked with them since 5 1/2 inch floppies, my old XP laptop will run Poser 8. Last year my brother says "you want this old computer?" My sis-in-law was using it for email. They had gotten it from someone else. I looked at it....ummmm..."ok". Somebody spent a few bucks 10-11 years ago. Mac Pro. Sixteen 2.67 Ghz processors on two dual quad chips, 24 GB ram, 1GB Radeon, Four 1TB drives. An unopened copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit in the box of stuff that came with it. Not that you needed to know all that.....

@@yourhandlehere1 It definitely takes some time to get used to a new program. I've never used Poser myself so in some ways DAZ may have been easier for me to learn as I wasn't comparing it to another program. I'm the opposite when it comes to my computer through, I spend almost all day on it so I want to have a very smooth running machine. I'm in the middle of doing a huge upgrade to my current system. Once the last of my parts come in I should have the new PC built and running next week. I think I put about $3,000 into it but it should keep me happy for a number of years.

@@dreamlabstudio4857 Ahaha...So many programs or pieces of them in my head. Most of the time it's a matter of what the developers decided to call something and where they put the tools. AutoCad, Maya, LightWave, 3DS Max, Rhino, Photoshop, CorelDraw!, Premiere, Bryce, Poser, I can't remember them all. NURBS, sprites, hypervoxels, particle emitters, oh my. Daz seems to be really really good, for a free program especially. I haven't dug into it's animation much yet, tried stringing some of those presets together to walk in a circle and come back to the starting point. It seems there's a different "origin point" that doesn't match from one to the other and I haven't found where to manipulate it yet. There's a jerk between each preset...foot ended on that "spot" but whole figure moves in next frame so foot jumps forward before next step starts. Try to set keys. If I move the figure back to the spot it SHOULD start the next one...it moves them all. I'll keep digging around. Good luck and happy rendering!

@@yourhandlehere1 Yes, it reminds me of taking Spanish in High School and then taking French in College. I never learned much Spanish but when I took French it has a lot of similarity to Spanish, just enough to screw me up and make French harder than it needed to be. I don't do animation myself but I've watched the KZbinr WPGuru do animation on a number of livestreams and it's clear DAZ isn't a great animation program. It works but DAZ seems to make some things far more complicated than it needs to be. :D Have a great weekend.

Restore Pose doesn't necessarily put the pose back to default. If you have used memorize pose at any point, it puts the pose back to the pose you memorized. Which can be useful too. Also a hack I've learned is it is good to have a zero pose pose to click rather than using Daz's default zero pose. The reason for this is the default zero pose you can use from the Daz menu's takes about 5 times longer to apply, for some reason, than a zero pose, pose.

@@GameDeveloperTraining As are yours, seems like you learned the way I did. Just fuck around till you get it lol. It's a fantastic way to really learn something (better than being taught IMO) but can leave holes in your knowledge. I'm constantly surprised when I learn things I don't know yet. Daz is really really slow in general when it is trying to roll something back (poses, deleting scenes, etc). It often saves time to just do it manually. Actually got another "hack" I'll put in a new reply so it can be seen.

Regarding #3 and the "black in the eye" problem: I couldn't be sure if we're thinking of the same thing because it wasn't showing on your figure, but when my characters would get a bizarre amount of black in their eyes, it was because the character was too far from the 0,0 (zero, zero) coordinate in the render. When I moved them closer to or back to 0,0 the black would disappear.

About eye contact I find it so much faster to just go into power pose and move both eyes where I want them to be in a second, no need for creating camera and moving it around since honestly how often in whole work time you need to do that? But thanks for 1st tip, honestly I feel so stupid for not knowing that, overlapping face expressions were my undying so many times...

Picked up some great tips from this video. Thank you so much! In the process of testing the first tip, I notice the Pin icon next to the Pose icon and played with that, too ... but I think I'm lost on what it actually does. I selected her pelvis and the children nodes, then using that icon pinned the translation and rotation. By doing this, my expectation is that from waist down she would be "pinned" and I could apply a new pose that would only affect her abdomen and up. But instead, the pose was still applied to her whole body. Soooooo ... either I've completely missed the mark of what the Pin icon does, or I'm missing something. Or both. Thoughts?
@GameDeveloperTraining
@GameDeveloperTraining 3 жыл бұрын
The pin is useful for when you drag a body part around in the viewport but other than that it doesnt do much. If you apply a pose it will still change every joint in the body

1:51 See how the toolbar on the left of the viewport is gone when you zoom in.. Is there a way to make it so it doesn't do that? So that the toolbar stays in the window, no matter how much you zoom in? Mine is defaulted to already be slightly cut off at the top to where I can't even see the perspective view selector. Does anyone know how to fix this and/or default the viewport toolbar to an optimized position?
