It means a lot to me to man! That comic in general captured the essence and importance of Superman perfectly!

Hey man. ✌️ Here's my top 5 DC Deluxe editions. 5. Arkham Asylum - Morrison/McKean. First time I read this I wasn't impressed at all. The writing was serviceable but the art did nothing for me... fast forward to a re-read and it was like opening a different book entirely! Fell in love with the Art and by then I'd got used to Morrisons writing style through his other works to fully appreciate this book way more! 4. Global Frequency - Warren Ellis. So I first read this brilliant book in a cheap £4 trade and it impressed me so much I bought the deluxe edition! Which is still in its cellophane waiting for a re-read! Fast paced and brutal throughout. Interesting idea around the members of this international group contacted at any moment, across the world, to stave off terrorism. Loved it. 3. All Star Superman - Morrison/Quietly. I'm not a massive superhero fan and especially Superman ( he's too wholesome for my twisted mind 😂 ) doesn't pull me in but being a Morrison fan I felt I had to buy this and I'm glad I did. Great story and writing as usual from the master coupled with Quitely's sumptuous art style. Loved it. 2. Prometheus - Moore/J.H. Williams. Astonishing set of books ( I have all three deluxes ) featuring a mind bending narrative only Moore ( and probably Morrison ) could write. I've only read these three books once and like any Moore/Morrison piece you absolutely have to reread multiple times to take it all in they're so dense! Truly thought provoking, intense, uncomfortable and fascinating prose from the greatest writer in comics that's ever lived....😂...ohh...and the artist is not bad either...😉👏😂😂 Massive English sarcasm there...he's Moore's match. 1. Batman - Azzarello/Risso My surprise number one is this outstanding, massively underrated, never talked about deluxe edition of multiple short storys, written by the dark hand of Azzarello while pencilled by the awe-inspiring Risso. Some truly dark storys live within this book and not enough people talk about them! Here's the Boo's.....😂....I'll preface this by saying I respect your opinion ( before I pull down my pants and take a dump on it 😉✌️😂 ) and it's all obviously subjective and finally, you're clearly an intelligent man who knows his own mind...BUT....😂😂....you place HUSH...not only in your top 3 Batman storys but your top 5 comics ever read!?!?!? What am I missing here!?! 😂😂 Jokes aside I wish I felt what you feel about it but after three re-reads I keep coming back to the same opinion. 1. Loeb phoned it in. As far as a batman story goes it's incredibly average and truly embarrassingly written when compared to Loeb's heavy hitters Dark Victory and the long Halloween. It's not bad or good just forgettable. 2. The best part of Hush is it's Art and I'm not a Jim Lee fan...to me his work is always soulless and devoid of character...he's remarkably overrated imo and I equate him to be the supermodel who's got nothing to say and is never off her phone...even during the soul destroying sex you have with her....but hey...in the street, on your arm, to the comfortably numb...she's a catch! While artists like Risso/Quitely/J.H.Williams and oceans more are that woman who puts you before her phone...looks ok on first glance but once she talks and all that sexy character floods out she just ramps up in appeal...she also destroys your bed and back...😂 I'm forever seeing Hush in top ten batman storys but I have to say I wouldn't put it in my top 50 batman storys and it wouldn't even make my top 300 graphic novels etc I've ever read. It utterly mystifies me the appeal. I've always felt it's aimed at dumb dums...the absolute bottom of the barrel, quarter brained batman fans but you've destroyed that myth for me as you are clearly the opposite of all that!! 😂😂😂 Horses for courses n all that ✌️ Seriously though 😂 I don't hate Hush I just think it's aimed at kids. 😂😂✌️

Oh boy I feel like I’m quickly getting used to buckling my seatbelt when I see that you comment haha And of course everything is subjective ESPECIALLY when it comes to art forms like writing and illustrating, so this is all in fun! Your top 5 isn’t bad, a lot of understandable but predictable choices. I would expect most people to feature alot of Morrison and Moore on their list. I feel Moore is much more deserving as a writer then Morrison but thats probably another conversation for another day haha. Your number 1 is pretty interesting. On one hand I admire it because it’s very out of the box as a choice, but then on the other I question it because those specific stories didn’t have the same impact on me but we know subjectivity matters more then anything so still respectable. I personally need more then a dark story or even a well written story. As a reader of comics what I love the most or what impresses me the most overall is when someone can capture the voice and actions of a specific character to the point that what’s taking place feels incredibly authentic and fitting to the character. Sometimes writers get so wrapped up in the darkness of a character like Batman that they ignore the other elements that make the character a super hero and much more then a dark trauma damaged character that is easy to place in dark themes or stories. Now to defend my choice of Hush haha 1. I disagree. I find hush very interesting in many ways. From it shedding away Batman’s brooding persona to the point we see him fully act out in anger due to a loss of a friend to Batman’s understanding of a character like Superman and how he ticks to the point that he’s comfortable attempting to go head to head with a god as a man. I feel that shows a fairly deep understanding of the character and also allows us as the audience to see him in situations that humanize as a human character as well as glorify him as a superhero. 2. As you said art is very subjective but even then you would be in the minority not liking Jim Lees art especially his art in Hush which is often regarded as some of his best. While yes his art is not as realistic as Alex Ross, or not as bombastic as Todd McFarland, or as detailed as Frank Quitely it is Perfect for capes and cowl comic books. In a book where I have aliens with laser vision, clowns who are criminals and men who run around as a bat, I don’t need realistic or overly detailed. I enjoy artist that are story tellers, that have a level of movement and momentum as well as emotion to the point that the panel can stand on its own 2 feet and Jim Lee is very good at that. Capturing the force of Batman punching Superman, the pain in jokers face as he’s punched or the admiration in catwoman’s eyes when looking at Batman is no easy task and he does it. Not to mention for me Jim Lees art just SCREAMS comics and when I’m reading a comic I want it to be as “comicy” as it can be so I can truly feel I’ve escaped into a extraordinary world unlike my own as dumb as that sounds haha Now reasons for its appeal and why it’s in my top 5 comics are because of the reasons I’ve said above. Give me a story that allows the heroes to feel emotion and let’s us see behind the metaphorical curtain of the character, give me a story that feels authentic and original especially when it comes to a character that has such a rich history, give me a story with art that fills me will amazement of the world and characters in it along with iconic panels, give me a story with all of these things combined and that’s a story I’m going to love. (Plus I appreciate you saying how intelligent I am but the truth is I’m a huge nerdy kid at heart and not a intellectual expert on literature, so maybe based off what you said that’s exactly why I love it. Because it is aimed at kids or audiences like me 🤷🏽‍♂️)

Woa. This one is tough since I often replace deluxe editions with Absolutes and Omnis. I'm going to limit myself to what I still have and not what I once had. In no specific order: 1. Wonder Woman Rebirth Deluxe by Rucka. 2. All-Star Superman by Morrison 3. Green Arrow by Lemire 4. Mister Miracle by King 5. Trillium by Lemire I'm definitely going to order the JLA by Waid you suggested. Thanks for another great video.

You really challenged yourself on your list so I appreciate that. Good choices also especially Green Arrow and Mister Miracle! Some of those would of been on my list also but I limited myself to my collection. And awesome I’m always glad I can give someone some recommendations! Let me know what you think once you read it!

What up , how do you decide which to buy 1st/ pre order? So I want to buy what I like of course but do I buy a book that just came out that could sell out ? Or do I wait and buy a book that is been out for months and could sell out ?
@Illuminerdy_
@Illuminerdy_ 11 ай бұрын
Hey! So I buy stuff I like only and I know that because most of the books I’m buying I’ve read in singles or have read a trade or so to find out if I’ll like it. For you to know if you will like something I recommend trying to do the same, read a bit of it digitally or in trades to get a taste when you know a book or title is coming out so you can see if it’s something for you. If not that then try and watch a review/overview or synopsis of the story or title to try and get a taste that way to see if it’s something you might like. (Reading up on a story or title on a wiki couldn’t work also) I’d recommend prioritizing books that are hot or that you see have a lot of buzz on them. If you see a book is getting a lot of buzz or is a first time printing then try and read a trade or a issue or so that way you can be prepared to make a decision on if you should pull the trigger or not. No way to 100% know of course but that’s the best way I’ve found to some what get a idea on a book. Hope that helps!
