Buying a cheap blonde nylon wig online and staining the fibres then cutting also works for homemade static grasses, cheers Paul

I like the mix of rocks and earth to make the soil. Fallen trees is also something often forgotten. Very nice!

I like how you use common, readily available materials. The sample diorama is realistic looking. Good job!

I follow your account and am always fascinated by your techniques. I try out a lot of things. It just didn't work out so well with the grass. yesterday I spent 2 hours coloring and cutting the grass. This morning I started sifting the grass. However, I'm giving up here. Sifting the grass takes forever and the result isn't really good. This may be due to the way I dyed the knit. In any case, it looks like it will take me at least 2-3 hours. Unfortunately I don't have that much patience or time. I also have the feeling that the "Acrylic Ink" paint was very expensive and I can get quite a lot of finished grass for it. But that is my own experience. I'm sure many others here can do it much better. Thanks a lot for the tips. Keep it up!

You're not the only one. :) I use the homemade static grass only for some longer tufts. Especially in wetter areas you will find long grass sticking out of the more regular length grass. The homemade grass is an easy and cheap way to create that variety. But I make them only in small quantities and place them by hand/tweezer. I haven't had good results with the homemade stuff through an applicator. It is too sticky and too long to get through the sieve easily. The ink is a great idea to reduce the stickyness, but I agree with you that it's rather quite expensive.

Wst does the dish soap do for the glue
@tonypetts6663 Жыл бұрын
It helps the glue mixture run by weakening the surface tension of the water, without it the mixture doesn't flow anywhere near as freely.
@TheCreativeModellerHO Жыл бұрын
Spot on! And because you only need a very small amount it doesn't affect the strength of the glue at all.

Hi there ! I really like how life-like your diorama sets look with the fine detail and all. Do you happen to have an email where i could reach you? I would love to get your expertise on a diorama myself of the fireplace from the haunting (1999) movie. That if which I'm currently working on thanks! 🙏💯🎨

In your, "Creating Your Own Sculptamold..." video, do you remember what the pulp to plaster ratio was?
@TheCreativeModellerHO11 ай бұрын
To be honest I don't really follow a specific ratio. It depends on how strong you need it to be... I am currently filming a video of a diorama and I used a ratio of around 40% plaster to 60% pulp and then after applying it I used some plaster alone over the top to make it easier to smooth it out... I'll make sure to explain this in the video since a lot of people have been asking what the ratio should be. Cheers ~ Gerben.
