How do you paint them safely because I’m pretty sure applying paint to the rails can compromise it’s conductivity, is there some special paints for it or something?
@TheCreativeModellerHO6 күн бұрын
The paint from the top of the rails gets cleaned after painting...

Consider taking two lighter passes with the x-acto. The first scores smooth and the second is the killer. Looked like it was fighting you. Thanks for the vid!

New to railroading, just purchased a Lionel Union Pacific starter set. IMO, the fast track is very cheap and unrealistic plastic looking system. I think it’s horrible really, so I searched KZbin to see if others out there did something to make the track look better. This is it. It seems like an awful lot of work, but well worth it. I considered other o gauge track, but they all seem to need a little work so I’ll just stick with this for now. If/when I expand, I’ll readdress my track options. Thank you for this.

I plan to use eggracks, cornice plaster,and weber glue,perhaps small amount of cement too..but may i ask why you dont use glue ,sir? 😊
@TheCreativeModellerHOАй бұрын
In my testing, I found that most glues caused warping as they dried, but plaster did not.

@@TheCreativeModellerHOso, i want to use resin to this lava diorama, better not use glue? And how thick should the mold be..i worry that resin ruin styrofoam,i never try it before😅
@TheCreativeModellerHOАй бұрын
I also have no experience with epoxy / resin. I recommend finding some tutorials. And do some testing on something you don't mind ruining. But also don't be scared to try something new and enjoy the process! 😁

Wow, thank you I learned how to make a tool which you showed with wire on a piece of plywood to cut cut Styrofoam you get in shipping boxes to the proper thickness. I never thought of that. I thought it had to be heated, but I saw how you just pulled it through there without the heat! it is not necessary to buy some expensive heating tools to cut through the Styrofoam. I can’t wait to try it on building a mountain thank you.🎉
@TheCreativeModellerHOАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure if it was clear in the video, but although it looks like the wire isn't heated, it definitely is heated.

What is the ratio do you use of egg tray fiber and plaster?

So it's just plaster of paris powder, whatever paper you shred, and water to make it a goop? Then it dries? I just want to know how to make sculptamold because it's probably a lot cheaper than buying it ready-made.

Nice video. Where weight is a concern, is plaster of paris similar to normal sculptamold, or heavier?
@TheCreativeModellerHOАй бұрын
Sculptamold is much lighter because it is mixed with paper fibers.

Working in Chief Architect and Sketchup. MUCH easier process IMHO. Then only trick is Sketchup to 3d printer. ;) I'm being very generalized. You can create a great library of parts you can simply drop and drag into your model. Detailed as you like, or as simple as you want. Blender is OVERKILL for architecture and will discourage many IMHO. I think even free Sketchup is a better option.
@TheCreativeModellerHOАй бұрын
I 100% agree that Blender is overkill and overwhelming for most people. In my case I'm using Blender because I've gotten quite good at it after doings modeling for games and doing some product visualization. So I decided to use blender for this to further improve my skills for future work... But yes learning blender only for printing some architectural buildings may not be the best time investment.
