See, I think cushion foundations are amazing! They've really changed the way my face and skin looks when I apply foundation and now I'm having a really hard time going back to "normal" foundation. Lol Now, I haven't tried any of the American brand cushions yet, only Asian brands which are freakin awesome btw, BUT what I wanted to suggest to you is, once your cushion runs out, flip the cushion over so you make sure you get to use every last drop of product in there, and then once it's completely dried out n finished, fill it back up with some of your favorite liquid foundation. I have the L'Oreal true match LUMI foundation and even tho I liked it alot, I had similar issues with the wear as you did with yours. I'm telling you what tho, I put that LUMI foundation in an empty cushion I had and omg! What a game changer it was for me! It goes on SO much smoother and more flawless than ever before, and I didn't suffer from anymore of the issues I previously had with it when I used It like a regular foundation that was applied with a brush or beauty blender. Idk, I'm just saying, If you're feeling up to it maybe try using the LUMI that way once and see if you feel any differently about the wear of the foundation. I went from just kinda liking it to absolutely loving it more once I put it in my cushion! Just remember to add a dusting of powder and some setting spray afterwards so it sets it n locks it in place, just like you would with any other foundation routine. Idk, it makes it look a million times better IMO. Oooh, and One more thing before I totally talk your ear off, lol,... you can also add sunblock to mix in with the cushion & foundation for some extra spf power, or add basically any other kinda products you'd typically prefer to mix with, to really get that perfect blend you love that's completely customized just for your personal skin type and gives you your fave type of foundation finish. Idk, That's what I did and now I'm having a really hard time finding anything else out there that can beat it for me. Sorry I typed alot, I was just really excited and just thought that maybe you'd be interested in trying to use the LUMI foundation in a different way that I personally think makes it work SO much better! Ok, I'm done now. Rant over. Lol 😉🤗

I think the concept is great but they're overpriced for the amount of product versus a bottled foundation. I haven't yet tried putting a bottled foundation into a compact, though, to see the difference in application. I will try that as soon as my current dream cushion runs out! Lots of cocktailling to try! :-D

Have you ever tried mixing in oil with your foundation? That'll help with dry feeling foundations. Adding 2-3 drops of argan oil, jojoba oil or whatever oil you like 👍🏻
@goow7 жыл бұрын
I sometimes do when I wear them, but not when I test them (just so I know what they wear like out-of-the-bottle). Same with setting spray - I almost always wear it normally, but not when I test a foundation (to see its wear on its own). Primer I never, ever, ever, ever skip (while sometimes I skip oil or skip setting spray), so I always test with primer. :) If that makes any sense!!

Your skin looks perfect! I don't know if it's this foundation or just that you have great skin (or maybe both). I have a favorite that you probably wouldn't like because I really like a dewy look. It's the Revlon Age Defying foundation. It is one of those classic formulas housed on the lower shelves, but it gives nice coverage and wear time plus it doesn't make my dry, mature skin look dull and flat. I also am enjoying the Ordinary Serum foundation.
@goow7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Ginny! I'm pretty lucky with my skin (avoided the sun for the most part since I was a teenager and realized I just burn to a crisp and that's no fun!) The sun spots I've got on one side of my face from driving an hour each way to work for 10 years and not wearing sunscreen daily drive me nuts, but other than that it's just the usual beginnings of aging... You know, I've stared at that Revlon foundation several times, debating grabbing it. I've never heard anybody talk about it. I will pick it up!

I'm excited to try the L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover...I really need a good 12 hour foundation but I'm not terribly hopeful. I think we may be foundation sisters! For drugstore I like the loreal total cover, loreal pro glow and the Maybelline cushion. For high end I recently found my holy grail and that's saying something because I have been looking forever for something I really love not just like. It's the Hourglass vanish stick. I absolutely love it! I bought it in 3 shades. Lol. Before the hourglass my favorite high end was Estee Lauder double wear. And I still do like it alot. I have combination skin and I believe you have dry so go figure. Anyways, I am loving your channel and content. You rock! XO

Thanks so much for a great video. I used to love Revlon colourstay (my skin is a similar colour to yours and Buff 150 was my perfect match) - I think it gives a similar finish to Loreal Infallible and it looks good all day. I am 42 and so stopped wearing it last year as I thought it was emphasising the lines under my eys but I think I was making the mistake of blaming the foundation when the fact is, is that I am getting older and am getting more lines under my eyes. I am thinking I that I should perhaps just use concealer round my eyes. I have bad dark circles so it's something that's a problem for me. I also suffer with dry patches (not really bad but enough for it to be annoying when I put foundation on) so I will give the Rimmel and the Loreal a try.

As for my fave drugstore foundation, I decided to stop wearing foundation several months ago so... lol But I was wearing the Rimmel 25 hour at that point. I was satisfied with it. It didn't blow me away but it was decent.

Thanks! I'm trying to get out of my neutrals rut! And I hadn't played with the UD Electric palette in forever. Yep that Rimmel is one of my defaults... if I can't decide, I know it'll work.

I guess I should be happy there are so many drug store brands that are good for dry, over 40 skin. In the past, I've usually had a 2 foundation rotation - one higher end and one lower end. With so many great drug store brands, I haven't bought a higher end one recently, but now I find myself saying, "It's only 8ish dollars...", and want to buy multiple brands. But really, how many is too many to own at time, especially because I don't wear them everyday? What is their shelf life?
@goow6 жыл бұрын
Most have a little icon on the bottle that looks like a little jar with 6 or 12 or 24 in it - the number of months it's good for after opening. A few brands will stamp an expiration date on the bottle but most just have that little number icon indicator.

I may have asked this question before on one of your other videos, so forgive me..:/ But have you ever tried Boots no.7 Airbrush Away foundation? It's great for dry skin, leaves a smooth, airbrushed almost velvety finish and it's buildable if necessary. It's also very lightweight, I sometimes forget I have it on! It costs a bit more but it's such a nice formula! I found it at Target but some Walgreen's stores also carry it as well as Ulta.

I have and I like it! I've got a review of it (one of my first videos, so it doesn't have quite the same format as my current foundation reviews, and I say UMM a maddening number of times! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5aZZmuIh8t_r68 - so I'll spare you the torture and say it works well on me!)

Ah...I must have missed that video when I started looking at your channel page. The no.7 looked very good on you, moist but definitely not dewy, which I hate too! There is such a fine line between dewy and greasy. I hate the tacky/sticky feeling with it as well. Ugh!
@ambergerhelper78527 жыл бұрын
Shelly! A few things: 1. ❤️ the space buns! Your hair just looks super cute! 2. I knew these, because I screenshot your Snapchat when you showed the list! 3. Where would you rate the Missha BB cream? It's not really drugstore or high end. It's still my number one! I also got it for half price on the Missha website (Everyone beware- the Amazon ones are counterfeit!). 4. Thank you for always being so helpful. Funny story- My husband was humming your outro this morning! I asked, "Do you know what you're humming?!" He replied, "No, but it sounds so familiar!"
@goow7 жыл бұрын
I am LOL'ing at your husband humming my outro song :-D I bought it from one of those indie music web sites, and it gets stuck in my head all the time too! It just sounds like something I'd listen to. Ha! Too funny. I just checked my spreadsheet and I never recorded the Missha on there - so I'm going to go re-watch my video and input all the data, and then I will come back here and post where it fell on the list! I'll put it on the drugstore side due to the price per ounce (and it probably will break the top 5 because I do really enjoy it). I'll be back!
@goow7 жыл бұрын
Ha so actually I just can't read and it is in my spreadsheet. And I was totally mis-remembering the price lol. So when drugstore and high end are all combined, it comes in 13th (85% B, which in my world I really like anything that scores 80%+). It's 8th overall on the high-end side (and would be 6th overall in drugstore). I'm one step closer today to putting this whole spreadsheet info up on the web as a sortable, searchable thing - I just have to sit down and write the code!
@ambergerhelper78527 жыл бұрын
