The durian can be found from sellers on the street throughout the nation, and evokes either love or hate from those who try it. Durians have approximately 800-1200 calories per fruit, are high in fat, vitamin C, Potassium, Fiber, Vitamin B-6, Magnesium, and are healthy when enjoyed in moderation.
In SS2, a short taxi from the Taman Bahagia LRT outside of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, there is a little piece of heaven, an all you can eat durian buffet. Simply do what I did and tell the taxi "I want to eat durian, SS2, and he will for sure know the place. Contact # 018 234 5619 if lost.
15 ringgit (5 USD) gets you all you can eat durian, of average quality. If you want prime quality durian, you should order by the kilo and try some premium varieties such as Maoshan Wang (Fox King), XO, or D24.

HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!

Hey Trevor, I've watched nearly all your videos now and even though it's probably best for me to leave this comment under one of your eating in China videos, I just want to say how much your videos have actually changed me and my view towards Chinese food. Growing up as a Chinese-born-Australian, I've never had the same appreciation for my Chinese heritage. I never liked the food as much or the culture. As I've grown up, I've made efforts to appreciate it a bit more but it's always been a struggle, especially when it comes to food (which I've realised now is a huge part of Chinese culture, especially since people like my grandma would ask, "have you eaten?" as a way of saying, "how are you?"). Watching your videos and seeing how enthusiastic you are about Chinese food has actually made me enjoy Chinese food a lot more and by extension, my Chinese heritage a bit more. Your videos and genuine enjoyment of different types of food has actually changed me into a more open and more grateful person. Thank you so much and keep up the awesome work! What you're doing is life-changing!

+lillmango Hey man! I'm so happy that you enjoy my videos and that I have made you appreciate Chinese food more, I'm truly grateful for your comment and really appreciate that you took the time to write me this comment and let me know what you think about my videos and I'm even more happy that you got something out of them. Thank you so much.

That's great that these videos have let you appreciate your heritage more. It should give one pause to consider why one was ashamed of one's culture in the first place (I went through a similar process and began to realize how wonderful Asia is through the films of directors like Kurosawa and Tsui Hark)

Trevor - I began travelling in China (and Asia) in 1982. 6 3 week trips per year. I always avoided Durian, but a Malay friend convinced me to tour the planations on the East Coast of Malaysia one weekend. I really enjoyed it - so much that a Malaysian Chinese almost caused a car wreck when he saw a "round-eye" sitting by the side of a road eating durian that was being sold out of a pickup truck. Only once could I find a golden pillow back then.

I bought a previously frozen durian at an Asian market in Albany, NY awhile back. My wife and I wanted to try it after watching travel vlogs on YT. Needless to say, neither of us fell in love. However, I would give it another go IF there is a big difference between fresh and what was most likely a who knows how old and frozen version. Do you find a big difference between the two?
@WoonCherkLam
@WoonCherkLam 8 жыл бұрын
+iamfugazi1969 Very big difference... Normally it's advisable to consume the durians in one day (in fact in just a few hours if you want the freshest) after they has been picked... That's why good durians are so expensive - you have to eat it fresh or it will be tasteless... :)
