My go to easy recipe is 6lbs of Bavarian wheat DME in 5gal of water. Only boil for 15 minutes. Throw in an ounce or two of your favorite citrusy hops at flameout, and dry hop with an ounce or two if you want to hop it up more. Ferment in a warm room with dry Voss kveik. It always turns out delicious and super crushable. Favorite so far was an Amarillo and Mandarina Bavaria combo. Cheers braj!

I love seeing things like these - reflections on older recipes. If we're recommending recipes for beginners, I think recommending a SMaSH recipe would be good. A simple pale ale that's all 2-row and maybe an accessible hop like cascade that you can buy by the pound is a good way to learn how different hops at different times affect a beer, but pale ales like that are also super refreshing.

I did a Rauch and HATED it at first. Had to go half and half with a stout to make it tolerable. When the stout ran out, I poured a full pint and didn't hate it, but it still wasn't my fave. Let it sit for a month and revisited. Kinda dug it. Don't know if it just needed age or it grew on me. I did finish the batch FWIW. I will say go easy on the smoke malt (particularly the breiss cherry I used). Pretend it's roasted barley and keep it in the low single digits, don't do 18% like me.
@kacperzielinski98702 жыл бұрын
@@dexterne Actually the beer I'm going to make is only one Ale from Poland and it requires 100% smoked wheat malt. Since I will do 10l batch in worst case I will give it away - some of my friends like this. I personally don't like smoked meat or fish so I'm skeptical - but this style is ~3% ABV and grain bill is only 3kg smoked wheat malt for 20L so maybe the taste won't be that bad.

Starting with a stout is logical, very forgiving beer style and not much for ingredients. Here's an easy recipe, what I've been brewing this year. Half rahr 2 row half german pale wheat malt, white labs coastal hazy yeast, and so far I've been using up some whole hops I had, but Im planning on using cascade pellet hops for this brew. Doing 10 gallon batches I use 9lbs of 2 row and 9lbs of wheat, scale that down or up depending. Im thinking about using less hops then I normally do with this one, but for anyone interested use as much or little as you want. For me the beer is light gold in color, not exactly hazy, but not see through either. Good everyday beer to have after work
