The Gauntlet looks like it needs something attaching the barrel to the end of the stock.... that 'free-floating' barrel look bugs me! lol. I've been waiting for this list! Love it.

@Jason Mohlmam Umarex will now sell you a barrel band installation service for $30 if you ship the rifle to them, Contact customer service. New production manufactured rifles of all calibers should come with this barrel band in the future not just .25 cal.

I bought the Umarex Gauntlet last night on Amazon for $196. I can't wait to get it. I also bought the 4 stage bike pump. I'm fairly new to the sport and this will be my first PCP.

I have a Gamo Urban. Love it...10 shots groups inside a dime at 30 yards. I also have a Nova Vista Liberty and I think it blows away anything on this list. The Liberty is accurate, regulated, has side-lever cocking, a high shot count (300 bar fill), uses inexpensive Marauder style magazines, and it's capable of shooting slugs extremely well. One can be had for well under $300 with a promo code. The down side being parts are very hard to come by from the manufacturer, but hopefully that changes soon.

I have owned a Gamo Urban since spring 2018. I have no complaints with it at all. It does exactly what I need, taking out pesty sparrows, starlings, and two woodchucks. It's light, compact, and gives me 25 shots with only 20 fps spread, without a regulator. It's deadly accurate out to 50 yards and it's MY #1 PPPCP. The Gauntlet is good but I see it more as a bench rifle because of it's extreme length. Thank you.

I'm planning on probably buying one of the Sig Sauer pcp MCX models when they come out. Thankfully have still never bought a pcp yet, so my first pcp will also be the coolest pcp? That's how I roll. 😎😎😎 But until then, my Gamo break barrel .22 will have to do! 😃😭

Any low-cost regulated PCP that can be on this list should be so no problem with number one and number two. I would give the Hatsan flashpup an honorable mention powerful, accurate and under $300 it would be a good entry into Bullpup platform.

My jaw dropped how Avenger is so poor against Gauntlet that's been out for almost 4 years. Entry level PCP should be hand-pump friendly, not 4500 PSI of Avenger. That's not even considering Gauntlet's ability to use CO2.

The biggest issue I have with the Gauntlet is shown very clearly when it's on the stands, the barrel flexes way too much. There is zero support after it leaves the receiver. That, and the sling studs are basically useless as installed. Back one is the lock screw for the adjustable comb, front one is mounted way too far back for proper hanging.

It seems as if you judged them purely by the amount of features. I couldn't put the Gauntlet at #1 simply because it is far too long to be anything other than a bench gun. Give me the Urban any time!

Guess I will have to shoot a 2nd Gen Gauntlet to see if it is up to the hype. I received one of the first issue when they were introduced and it couldn't run with the Urban or Flash in any category (except accuracy and that was a tie). But, if they have taken care of all the first edition problems, including a terrible action on the bolt and an awful trigger, I can imagine it being an excellent rifle; except it is still long enough to use it as a spear. The one positive with that first generation was that after you got past the bad stuff they are accurate (even more so after you took the regulator apart and adjusted it to the correct output). But it still is driven by what you plan to do. If you are going hunting in the bush you'd probably quickly start to envy the guys with the much shorter and lighter Flash and Urban. And if you wanted to save some money to put a bit more into a better optic that Stormrider Gen II is probably the most impressive gun in this group dollar-for-dollar. Ultra light, perfect for youth shooter with a very adjustable trigger, smooth action and excellent accuracy; but an unfortunately anemic shot count. Bottom line is that, as this video stated, there are a lot of entry level PCPs out now that would have cost twice as much 10 years ago for all the features you get. Every one of these is a super rifle for the money so it more about what fits you than what rating they make on the list.

They haven't taken care of it, I promise it's not all that, I'd take any of the other four over it, especially the flash. I do agree that you need to find the gun that fits you personally above all. I worked on a new Gauntlet, not impressed in any way with it personally, underpowered, terribly stiff action, the bottle is loose, the bottle cover still doesn't line up to make it work, made cheap with some parts in it that don't even work, just put there for whatever reason, they still come outta the box with broken air strippers, just not a fan at all, but that's my personal experience and what I found asking other real owners, not sellers of it. They made a few upgrades, but I'd take a flash and put a regulator in it if you had to have a reg. I would never recommend it to someone new getting into pcp's, way too many problems. If you're getting into it to learn how to work on them, then that's the way to go, but it's gonna cost some money to upgrade it to a good gun, I guess that's the reason for the low price point.

Gauntlet is junk. Returned mine & replaced it with the Gamo Coyote Whisper which is an upgraded Gamo Urban. Added a regulator & it's perfect. Accurate, great shot count,quiet & well balanced.

I'll buy a Storm Rider when they fix the issues with it it needs a barrel band the barrel wobbles all over the place ! and the Mags don't line up right and they keep shaving the pellet when you try to to load it and the gun is very hard to load a pellet in if its not seating a pellet right ! I have two gauntlets 22 caliber and a 25 caliber and you can't beat them for the money ! The hatsan Flash in 25 caliber is not a bad gun if you can get it to hold air had to send mine back three times !

You completely missed the Hatsan Jet 1 ! This pistol / carbine has a removable buttstock, pop up sights, a swappable air cylinder and plenty of power for small game hunting. It weighs about three pounds in carbine form, and even with its 7.9 inch barrel, is a tack driver ! At well under $300.00 its a bargain !

I'm not a fan of the Gauntlet at all, they have too many problems and everyone knows it, they have since the first model and they haven't upgraded them to be a good gun without pouring more money and effort into them. I hear the other four run circles around it for quality and usability, features don't mean anything if it doesn't work. Give me power and accuracy for a low cost hunting gun, the flash is a beast, and for a $100 you can out in a reg if you want, but it's not needed. I personally don't see how a gun can make the top of the list when you can do a simple Google search and see that people have started businesses making the working parts for the gun because it doesn't come out of the box with some usable parts, makes no sense to me other than the fact that a company with a lot of money to throw in to sell it and get high end sponsors to push it. Seems to me people aren't voting, the companies with the most lute are the ones doing the voting.
