My first shiny fail was a complete stupid move on my part. In ORAS I got a random shiny relicanth and like a moron I used leaf blade from my sceptile who was 5 levels higher, not thinking it was quad effective (Don't play at 2 in the morning). My most painful though was my SS Totodile I just SR over like 4 days ago after 15K encounters.

The Magmar one was just unfortunate. As for myself I only shiny failed once in my life which was a shiny Abamasnow which I was very excited to see because Abamasnow is not only my favorite ice type but my favorite mega and I got it down to 1 HP with false swipe and that’s when it decides to reveal it has wood hammer and kills itself to recoil. RIP.

I've only had one shiny fail on a pokemon game is a funny story actually is how I learned about shiny pokemon this was years ago when ruby and sapphire were still pretty new I was running around the hoenn safari zone and came across a shiny whooper which I failed to catch as it had ran from me I had no clue what a shiny was and was really thrown off by the random different colored whooper

Lol I ran into a shiny on accident but I caught it, I was trying to complete the pokedex in Pokémon x and I needed a gyrodos, I saw it's shadow on the second encounter in the wild, and I was happy cause I found him but then I saw he was red and started to shine, my heart dropped to my ass that day

Same thing happened to me on Route 10. I got a 11 catch combo on a weedle so I could go in the water in Route 10 to get a Dratini which was a rare spawn, apperently, that was enough to give me my first shiny in Let's go, a shiny female nidoran.
