hey rachel! there's this podcast called Lore and the host Aaron Mahnke talks about all things spooky and gory. it has 67 episodes (each over 20 mins) and it took me two weeks to finish them all and now i wait every two weeks for my next episode. it just seems like you would enjoy it! there's an entire episode on h.h. holmes, and another all on lobotomies!

For anyone interested, Devil in the White City is a pretty good history novel revolving around Holmes' connection to the Chicago World's Fair. Had too much to do with the Fair for my taste, but the chapters on Holmes were interesting. Apparently he was a really weird dude that gave most people who met him the creeps but he was also charismatic. Even if people couldn't quite put their finger on why he disturbed them, they'd go along with him anyway just because he seemed like a well meaning guy. I just wanted to add to the video, that the theft charge led to a weeks (maybe months, can't remember) long hunt for Holmes where it was found that he had killed the Pitezel children among a few others. It also came out after his capture, that while builders were working on his hotel he would occasionally go up to a worker and try to get him to drop a brick on another workers head or something similar that would have killed the other worker. Most of them said no but a few did it and that was how he found the men who would help him dispose of bodies after the hotel was built.
