The first hike from Gornergrat is one of the best. Did it last summer last weekend in June during the heatwave in Basel and it was so refreshing. Views were spectacular. The picture of the Matterhorn in the lake is probably the best picture I have ever taken. We are looking forward to having the entire family there in the Fall to experience Zermatt.

The hike to the Hornli hut is one of the safest hike in the valley, it's always crowed so you're never alone 😁

Thanks for your video! Im taking my elderly parents on our trip and would like to stop by Riffelsee on our way (down?) from the Gornergrat. Is it possible to walk to the lake and then walk back so we can catch the train to continue down from the same stop we got off on? They are mobile but get tired if walking too long so I was hoping to find a short quintessential Zermatt hike.

Hello Tanya, love your videos...I have just recently found your videos and they will keep me busy for awhile. I have made several trips to Switzerland in the last couple years and with the virus lock-down I have taken the time to go back and make videos from my trips and posted them on my youtube channel. I can't get enough of the railroads, but want to do some of the hikes on my next trip. Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for sharing this information, it looks amazing. If you were to do all those trails on one trip to Zermatt, how much time would you need ? Thanks

Warning: In my opinion the 5 lakes hike isn’t for children under 7 nor for people who are afraid of heights. It had a very dangerous section
