Hi Brian, I appreciate your humility to tell your story of where you came from and those who have helped you on your journey. I was also happy to hear that you're a praying man! Great set of favorite knives. The only real Emerson I have is the Super Karambit, which is an excellent knife, but almost exclusively for self-defense. I've never used it and hope I never need to! I also love some of the big TOPS knives - my favorite big one is the chopping beast: El Chete! 😎👍

I've got the smaller SCHF55 Griffin Design and love it too. With a 4" 1095 3/16" thick blade its a little beast. Just need to add some grip tape to the grivory scales. Would be interested to hear why Griffin has parted ways with Schrade.

Brian, if my memory serves me correctly, the double edge is heat treated on all of the Tahoma Field Knives and some aren't sharpened so they can be sold in states that don't allow double edge knives. So you should be able the use something like a worksharp and put a nice even grind on the one you have. Just a suggestion.
@arctodussimus61983 жыл бұрын
Hey, have you ever used a TOPS Armageddon? That is my number one favorite knife of all time. I’ve always wanted to challenge it with the Junglass, but just can’t afford to get one right now. Leo ground down the finger choil on my Armageddon and that made it 200 times more comfortable to wield. 😎 As for your all time favorite ... Yep, the Tahoma Field Knife is (imho) absolutely the best all-around “survival/wilderness” tool that you can carry. I have three of them. I got Leo to put serrations on the top edge of my second one. When I asked Andy about the serrations (which I normally don’t like), he told me that if he had serrations on his Tahoma, that’s where he would put them. A fantastic knife indeed. 👍🏻👍🏻 🇺🇸

Best part of this video is "I've had this knife since my boy was in cub-scouts (now 34)". So cool. I have the first nice knife that I bought the day I turned 18. I am 44 now, it still sits on my night stand, and gets carried once in a while. All stainless, fully serrated, Spyderco Police model. Sent back to Spyderco twice for a full serration re-grind. :)
@jeremybryant57783 жыл бұрын
my absolute fave that I have is the Esee Junglass. That is one awesome knife. It may not be a small bushcraft knife, a hatchet, or a big machete, but it hits that sweet spot in between. May not be quite as good as those items at their designated tasks, but it does them all well enough. Great one tool option. I attached a survival kit to mine and carry it horizontally on a beachin tactical baldric lite. Thanks for the video brother. I always enjoy sharp saturday. God bless
@tarheelrealist89353 жыл бұрын
As an owner of the Esee Junglas, I strongly suggest you cover the blade in a coat of oil (Mobil-1 synthetic for me), when sheathed, on the blade after first use. A great blade that's a compromise between a machete and a combat knife...well worth the money.

Bryan, These my favourite videos are always fun to watch. Nice choice for favourite knives. As much as I like my Buck 112, I’m getting into carrying a fixed blade. In fact I was asked about my fixed blade and told the person it’s a tool I use it for everything, I slice apples with it and make sandwiches with it. Sometimes in a restaurant I use it to cut my steak especially if the utensils look dirty.

First time viewer here, enjoyed it very much. Judging by the age of your son I'm guessing you and I are about the same age. I've been intrigued by knives since I was a kid, still am in fact. Been making hand forged knives and traditional longbows for 25 years. Still love looking at production knives, and yes, I love big knives also. I had a similar theft incident many years ago, only the backpack was hanging in my garage and had my absolute favorite folding knife in it, a big, beautiful two bladed Boker, and a field saw. Forgot to close the garage door one time and it was gone. I really hate thieves, and I felt your pain. Glad they missed the tools. Take care!

Regarding the "Junglas", I've had the OKC "RTAK II" for at least 20 years & I owe it my allegiance because I haven't been able to break it or wear it out. I don't see the point in spending much more money just to say that I own the brand, when the specs are so close. I even like the handle scale shape. I also own 2 other similar OKC knives in the same series, a 6" blade & a 3" blade.
