Another great free experience at the Grand Floridian is the orchestra that plays classic big band music in the lobby starting at 4pm each day. You can sit in Mizner's Lounge, or grab a drink and sit up on the 2nd level where the orchestra plays and just relax and enjoy. The musicians are very friendly and love to chat with guests between sets.

My favorite free thing to do is take the boat from Disney Springs to Port Orleans to get beignets. The beignets aren't free though, so I guess it's my favorite $3.79 thing to do!

You can always park for free at Disney Springs and take the transportation to the different resorts.

Chris Reckline The resorts with boat service to Disney Springs are Port Orleans, Old Key West, and Saratoga Springs. Everywhere else, you take the bus.

I know one goes to Sartoga Springs, One goes to Old Key West, but not sure of others. I like the Old Key West because of the conch fritters

Movie night at fort wilderness with the campfire. Bring some hotdogs to roast and some s'mores to make. You do need to check if it's scheduled that night. It'll cancel with weather.

I went to Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian recently and saw the Cinderella "show" for the first time. It was absolutely adorable! Also, the Electrical Water Pageant is one of my favorite nighttime shows! It just screams Disney to me and is so classic like Steve was saying.

Catching the fireworks from outside the parks became a nightly thing when I was in Orlando last year. From our hotel windows we could see Hollywood Studios, Epcot and a tiny hint of Magic Kingdom fireworks in the distance. We saw them almost every night for two weeks and never got bored of them!

As a California native, it's always so crazy to me how spread out WDW is!! I go to school just a few miles away from Disneyland in Anaheim, and it's tradition to watch the Disneyland fireworks from the top of the campus parking structures. I can't quite see them from my apartment, but you sure can hear them each night. Whereas staying on WDW property last month, we could only faintly hear Illuminations from our hotel. Totally different worlds!!

My favorite "free" thing to do is when I stay at Bonit Creek in Florida I usually get to view the fireworks at Epcot

Another Freebie at the WDW Parks that I found out: Guest Services: Pop in and ask for a badge. What happens? The cast member will either ask if it's a celebration, a 1st visit, a wedding etc, and they will give you a FREE badge with said celebration on, and write your name. My tip: Ask the cast member nicely for a selection of badges (one of each type), then go to other Guest Services in the parks and swap them with other Cast Members. You might even get a 'Disney Guardian' badge (exclusive).

How did you guys miss the BEST free thing to do at Disney World?! The movie night with Chip & Dale at Ft. Wilderness is free and they have entertainment, a meet and greet with Chip & Dale and a movie. I do also adore the electrical water pageant, I will make plans to see it every trip!

I think you might have to be staying at a WDW resort, but I suppose you could call Fort Wilderness and ask.

They have something like this at the Grand Floridian and it completely bombed when we stayed there. No one showed up but they still had to do the whole routine so the cast members running it awkwardly went through the previews and introduced the movie with absolutely no one there. I felt so bad but it was very funny walking by it

Air you go into AKL Jambo, and walk to the other end of the lobby, you can go out onto the observation area, you can see them on the Savannah.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this but then again it might just be me but riding the monorail alone is one of my favorite free things to do at WDW. Then again, I just like transit trains in general. You can see inside Future World if you ride the Epcot line.

We love watching the street performers on the boardwalk and at DS. Another freebee is taking a boat ride from MK to Wilderness lodge and enjoying the view.

A lot of times if you tell them you're checking out the resorts to see where you want to stay next time, 96% of the time we've been allowed to park. The other times they've just directed us to the farther away overflow lots.

Re: parking at resorts, when I visited last Memorial Day weekend, we were staying offsite and had lunch reservations at the GF and cast members definitely checked before they let us park there. We saw the car behind us get turned away, pretty sure they got busted trying to pull a fast one. AKL was super chill though, they let us park there even though we were just wanting to check the hotel out.

The Electrical Water Pageant also has showings on Bay Lake in front of the Contemporary beach, Fort Wilderness, and Wilderness Lodge. Just so you all know.

You guys mentioned watching the fireworks from the beach at the Poly. I've personally never done that but I've watched them from the beach at Fort Wilderness and it's a wonderful view from there and even if you're not staying there, all you have to do is hop on a boat from MK and you're golden!

Wishes is my favorite too! It is so magical! We stayed at AKL during our last trip, and saw lots of animals! Actually it started to pour and we saw the giraffes run! Thanks for sharing! Great ideas!

Last spring break, my friend and I went to the beach at the Polynesian resort because she lives in Florida and we wanted to do something fun for free! They don't play the music out there anymore, at least not when I went and the people around us said they stopped doing it. But either way, it's still so much fun! Get there a little early to get a good spot! Loved it!

On our arrival day we typically don't go to the parks. To build the anticipation and to refamiliarize ourselves with the transportations we ride both monorails and take the launch around the lagoon. Occasionally if time allows we ride the launch at Hollywood studios to the hotels, Epcot and back. If you have prepurchased the photopass you can start early on photo memories if Hollywood studios has photopraghers at the topiaries outside the park. Similarly at Disney springs at the Bibbity Bobbity boutique if they are not busy or occupied they will accommodate you with taking your photo(s). Thanks for the list. The animal kingdom tip was unfamiliar to me. Keep up the great work!!!

AKL Jambo House after dark, at the ground level observation area has night vision googles for guests to use to look at the animals on the savannah. Cast members will give info on the animals that are in view.

The Water parade goes by All of the Resorts on both 7 Seas lagoon and Bay lake. Another Free thing Movies outdoors at a lot of the Resorts; plus at Fort Wilderness Chip & Dale have a sign along before the movie.

Re: visiting the Grand Floridian or Animal Kingdom Lodge - don't forget about taking taxis. When staying at a hotel on the property, if we want to go to another hotel, I find that often the best option is to take a taxi. It's usually only $10 or so, which to me is worth not having the hassle of taking the other means of transportation. Disney's transportation is more directed to taking people back and forth to the parks, and not so much from one hotel to another, particularly to/from certain off-the-beaten-track ones - like Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge. Obviously, if you're on the monorail - say the Polynesian - and you want to go to the Grand Floridian, you use the monorail. But if you're at the Polynesian and you want to go to the Carribean Beach, you have to take the monorail to the ticket and transportation center, and then take a bus from there (there are other ways to do it.) You can also take a taxi direct, so...
