Here's the thing, I love doing both. so I intent to perhaps save this purchase for my final year in university. Using materials that create a render similar to that of a monochrome look whilst also using 3d printed parts can both help with creating really cool texturally intriguing models. lets hope the budget by then doesn't get overtaken by the physical model making costs for materials XDDDD

Would've been considered if our money wasn't already gone on basswood and chipboard :) As for the colours app, there is an app called Color Grab. It does the same thing basically except that it uses your camera instead of the machine, also, light on the object you're capturing matters (which, for me as an arch student, is something I think I need, actually).

Good. Now feature some surveying apps like Smart Tools to measure height and angles. Using Augmented reality also do a good job in getting initial measurements and areas. But these are for construction, what about that aid in designing? 3D print can only be as good if you can design good enough for its worth. I saw student wasting 3D printing boxes. Boxes which can be done manually faster than 3D printing. They still need to be good at scaled freehand design thinking, and to look for proportions. The gadget can only help, not be better at designing.

A device I got for my firm is the Canvas.io. It’s a laser that attaches to my iPad and does a 3D scan of the room. I then sent it off to render and next week I’ll get back a 3D model of the house I measured. It took me only 45 min to measure a house that normally would take 1.5hr or 2hr.

Measuring fairly good. I took overalls regularly and will check the model they make. I should get it back on Wednesday. But the measurements are accurate. It’s a learning curve of how to measure though.

@@izoyt I like archicad... But to some stuff Autocad is way better. Just like on some stuff sketchup is waysm better. Archicad is good when you are doing normal things... That is my opinion...

@@ricardopereira3747 what are normal and what not normal things? there's rhino/grasshopper connection in archicad for some spece stuff if you need it. also it has regular 2d drafting if you want.

@@izoyt not that anormal XD, but some times puting curves, puting metal beams and other kinda of stuf that is not a simple wall takes longer to make corretly than if it was on autocad. and only using autocad, sketchup, and twinmotion or even Vray is chepear than using archicad.

Hello, when you’re an incoming architecture student, i3 will not be enough power to run archi programs. Get an i5 intel core. But if you have the budget go for i7 intel core. Look for 8 to 16GB of ram and good graphics card. Most laptops architects use are gaming laptops tho. Pero pwede din Macbook pro na 15 inch. Also look for bigger displays. 15” and above

Hmm i don't really use iPads in My workflow, but it depends haha:)

you can do nice 3d presentations via ios or android tab (archicad have app for that, for example), but 3d printed models are also nice, so depends. tabs can be also nice gizmo for measuring, drawing etc (i also use it for 3d scanning with drone etc).
