Still think Lara's is the best, probably of all time, because he didn't have any support on the other side. Also it was in the 4th innings. Lara's 153* is undoubtedly the greatest innings of test cricket. Just before the series, West Indies had lost to South Africa 5-0. At the start of the series in the very first test West Indies were bundled for 51 in second innings and lost the match by 312 runs. We can say it was the rock bottom for lara as a captain as well as a batsman. So the pressure on him was extremely high. He did score a double ton in second test but it was the match winning batting in 4th innings of the third test match which was really out of this world, a sheet genius of a batting masterclass. Imagine West Indies were 100 odd for five and then single handedly snatching the victory in that fashion is unheard of.

I was amaze seeing Mahmood in the list but at the end it won pak the match against SA which was near to impossible for Asian side in those days. But Lara's inning deserve to be no.1+ Sachin heroic against Pak in Chennai test only difference Healy dropped a catch and pathetic Indian batting line up. But today cricket has just become entertainment.

If it's until 2021 you could add Ben stokes heroics in headingley and Whole last inning at Sydney In 2020 Border Gavaskar Trophy.

1. Ben Stokes recent innings in ashes 2. Inzmam ul Haq Century against Bangladesh . These two are better than Nathan Astle's double Ton

Sachin's 136 vs Pakistan and kohli's 141 vs aus in 4th innings of Adelaide Chasing 364 are great innings . Unfortunately both end in losing cause

I think brendon mccullum s 300 vs india should also be considered

Even lot of good knocks present in test history..the VVS INNINGS WILL STAY FOREVER GREAT VIDEO KEEP GOING SIMPLY CHUMMA
@jimmartin97042 жыл бұрын
Laxmans was a great knock but Lara's 4 th innings was better. Mike Hussey's innings in 2005/6 test against S/ Africa in Melbourne Aust 248-9 Hussey on 27 with only McGrath to bat with put on 107 run partnership to set up a great victory for Australia

VVS Laxman is the best innings of all time considering the team score when he came to bat both in first and second innigs and that too against top bowling of Australia.

Sachin's SCG innings definitely deserves the spot... Consciously not playing the cover drive for the entire innings and remaining not out with 241

Truely agreed with the list.

According to Wisden VVS’ 281 is the greatest innings of the last 50 years. A modern masterpiece!

Laxman played extraordinary innings, but I think Lara's innings was greatest. According to my opinion Lara played the best test innings in last 40 years.

Dhoni inning of 224 in chennai vs Australia was also a great inning

Why is astle's innings here as the greatest ? Did ye won the game for his country or it was played under pressure or against quality attack or on tricky track ? That innings was just an entertainment as he had nothing to loose
@Bernie83303 жыл бұрын
Absolutely correct. A joke of an innings with nothing riding on it but people just don't understand.

Even Lara's first Test hundred, which was a double hundred against Australia .
