Britains soldiers were a rare treat in America in the 80s . Relegated to summer vacation overpriced tourist toy shops.
@RetrotoyguysiАй бұрын
@@georgecookus2791 even in the UK they used to be a bit pricey compared to the green plastic variety. But loose figures were available and cheaper than Star Wars and Joes. Thanks for watching and commenting George 😀👍

The Britains are pretty cool . I think a lot of us had the regular green soldiers . Yep , m.a.s.k is one of the greatest toy lines ! I got the condor for my birthday as a kid . Love the raven !! I wish they put more thought into the thunder hawk like they did with the raven ! The action force red skull is super cool !! From Star Wars , my favorite figure was Darth Vader , but you already know that lol ! The vintage snow speeder was so fun to play with as kids ! Slot cars were fun ! Who doesn’t love Lego’s !! I use to build space ships just like you !! Fantastic sharing amigo !! Yes , do the castle !! Keep up the great work !!

Congratulations Si I will accept this video in way of an apology 😂 Still should’ve been higher than number four, but your choices in condor, Rhino, and Raven have won my sub back!! lol 👍👍👍

Interesting list. Mine would be quite different. Though M.A.S.K. would be on there I'm sure. I did have one Britains figure, a Civil War Cavalry soldier. I thought he was cool. I had a on of Star Wars, but to me they were just generic sci-fi figures. My main things were G.I. Joe. Others that would make my list would be Fisher Price Adventure People, that Rescue Helicopter was great, and Lincoln Logs. Sorry, Lego wasn't as cool to me.

@@ShadeofJeremy that’s an interesting list too, I never really had many real Joes.. Thanks for watching and commenting Jeremy 👍😀

@@Retrotoyguysi You're welcome. Yeah, Joe was really my thing. The first toy I remember my Mom buying me was one of the 70's sets.

Nice picks now I got to say my number 1 would be....... ? Bet you could guess it lol. I had lots of airfix 1.36 scale soldiers and about 7.000 1.76 scale of solders if no more lol I had a full suitcase of them

A really good list there. Star Wars, Action Force and Scalextric were some of my favourites too. I liked the knights from Britains, but didn't have many of them. I can imagine laying seige to Castle Grayskull with an army of these! Here is a quick top 5 list off the top of my head: 5) Thundercats 4) Transformers 3) Masters of The Universe 2) Star Wars 1) Papermen - drawings of Transformers which I then cut out and played with, acting out scenes from the comics which I couldn't really do with the actual figures because they weren't able to move very well. Papermen - hours of fun! PS My grandfather was also in the navy during WW2. HMS Swiftsure. He was on the same ship as my nan's brother who encouraged them to write to each other before they eventually met and later wed. An early form of Tinder in a way, I suppose 😄 PPS could you do a review of the yellow Lego castle? Thanks in advance. All the best to you. 👍
@RetrotoyguysiАй бұрын
@@stephengray8374 I never really got into Thundercats, I remember the cartoon but never had any of the toys, that was more my brother’s thing. I do remember having a few paper transformers but it’s a vague memory that was only triggered by you mentioning paper men. Whether they were the same thing, I don’t know 🤷♂️ Nice story about your grandfather. My grandad served on the HMS Queen Elizabeth from late 42 to the end of the war. He used to tell a story about meeting some of the SAS guys while in port in the Mediterranean, which was cool. Thanks for watching and commenting Stephen, hope you have a good weekend 👍😀
@stephengray8374Ай бұрын
That's very cool about your grandfather talking to the SAS. It must have been great listening to his stories about that time. Although we were in the middle of a world war, in many ways I think I would have preferred to have lived then than now. Well, I just used to draw pictures of the Transformers myself and cut them out. Prime didn't need to use the Matrix in our house. If he required more troops, out came the pen and paper and Bob's your uncle! It sounds absolutely rubbish, but was actually quite a lot of fun. ✏ Yes Thundercats were an odd toy line in many ways. I think the play feature/arm lever thing was a bit offputting. I had quite a few of them, though, so there must have been something I liked about them. If I could swap them out for something else, it would be Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, but not sure if they count. Citadel of Chaos was a good one! Hope you have a good weekend too 👍
