9mm is such a great round. It’s lighter, faster, and usually cheaper. It’s easy to train with, easy to shoot, and you can carry more of it. Really, 9mm is the best round out there. That is why I carry a .45 M&P Shield.

Pocket vs. holster carry is the dividing line for me. For pocket carry I use the Ruger LCP (first gen). This little gun has never had a single malfunction of any kind. If I grip it very tightly and focus on the front sight well it’s reasonably accurate at 5 yards. For holster carry (IWB does not work for me) it’s either the S&W model 37 or 19. I like a thumb-break leather holster.

I love: 1. Single, double action firearms with a hammer, as it gives me the sense of security that I have control over my hammer too. 2. Double stack magazines, with 15+ rounds in a magazine, even if my first handgun was a single stack 8 round magazine. I also didn't feel underpowered with the 7.65 round. 3. Up until I shot my first polymer framed pistol, I would automatically go for an all steel handgun. 4. I love shooting the Beretta mod 92 FS, but for my hand size, the grip is too big for me not to adjust my hand when utilizing the HOD. 5. The polymer Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm with 17 round magazines, fits my hands perfectly, and recoil is comfortable. 6. Problem for me with the polymer frames are: 6.1. Pistols are too light for me. 6.2. I dislike striker fire, not for the functions it provides, but that I can't grasp and control the hammer with my thumbs, obviously dependent on which hand I'm using to shoot. 6.3. Doesn't feel all that durable to me. Yes I know they are durable, but it's the sensation while holding the handgun I get. 6.4. It's not what I was taught on, and at that time all steel pistols and revolvers were the bomb, and Glock was the only polymer with any form of claim to fame. 6.5. Polymer usually signifies that a pistol is striker fired to me, and I want my external hammer with the single, double action capabilities. First shot is heavier and you know the fight is on. 7. Reasons I might go for a polymer pistol: 7.1. It's light enough to carry with almost any kind of pants. 7.2. If it's a single, double action pistol, familiarity of all pistols I've shot are there. 7.3. The grips are usually exchangeable with extra grips already there for my hand size that can't modulate the bigger grips without readjusting my hand. 7.4. In pistols, I love Beretta, and it's literally no fuss cleaning, disassembling, reassembling for me. Okay, all firearms you just need to learn that method, train with that specific make, and all is easy. 7.5. Specifically speaking of the PX4 Storm in comparison to the Mod 92FS (the reasons I kept with the PX4 Storm were): 7.5.1. Grip 7.5.2. The trigger safety, which protects the hammer from engaging the firing pin. 7.5.3. Extra rounds from a standard set-up. 7.5.4. Weight 7.5.5. Rotating barrel is a cool energy distribution factor for recoil purposes. 7.5.6. The ambidextrous magazine release, as I normally carry left handed, but with maintenance shooting, I am normally instructed to shoot right handed, of which I'm luckily ambidextrous too. 8. Sights, well they are just perfect for me. 9. I'm confident that the recoil for my 155Lbs structure is easy to control with both my primary choices when drawing one handed, as my shooting practices involves me blocking a perpetrator with my free hand while shooting with my designated firearm hand. So up to 9mm in pistols and 38Sp in revolvers works best for me. 10. My choices may not make your grade, but they are my choices. Just like your choices are yours, and I'm certain if a shooter comes to you and ask for a specific brand of firearm with viable choices, you would do your research to accommodate the specifics they need or require.

@@johnvillamil3138 I rather train and ensure I have more competent people on carrying than thinking a video would make a person better at shooting. I do not like videos of myself. When it comes to South African laws on firearms we are limited with the amount of firearms we may own, and would someone want to see me fumble over my own tongue. If ever I'm in the USA and at a shooting range testing weapons, I would probably do it. But my voice will annoy me, and inadvertantly have me not post the video. I'd rather sing than speak on a video.

I agree with the holster comment. A comfortable low profile holster is essential for conceal carry. I have a very similar holster as you. The company is called “CYA” and it is made by a former member of the military. This holster is extremely comfortable, I forget that I’m carrying after about 20 minutes of wearing it, and best of all I love that by buying this product I’m supporting a former member of the US military. On a side note, I am a former police officer (Retired after 25 years of service) and we were always taught to let the slide snap with a lot of force when racking it so you keep the spring tension taught. Try not to gingerly pull back on the slide.

Reliability, 6rd capacity, ease of use, concealable & comfortable, low recoil, Ruger LCRx revolver in .22magnum. For even less recoil, Ruger LCRx 8rd, .22lr revolver. Both are excellent for women & seniors with recoil issues. Uncomplicated. If it fails to fire a round, just pull the trigger again...no slide to clear, no magazine to check. The .22lr is also very economical to put in range time to developed shot placement skills. The LCRx platform also has room to grow with a .38spl model, when recoil is overcome or not a problem. The sights are awesome! Also, there are red or green grip lasers for the LCRx models.

I think you also have to consider how much people are going to shoot. A lot of concealed carry people don't shoot their guns a lot, and in those circumstances, I would NOT recommend most of those guns because they're not as easy to shoot. For people who are going to shoot more, they may be a good choice. Remember, 70-80 percent of accuracy goes out the window in a gunfight, so just because a person can reasonably handle these guns small guns well at a range does not necessarily translate to handling them well in a gunfight. Loaded correctly, I think the G42 is a good option.

Great informative video as usual hegshot. I truly standing agreement with your assessment of these concealed carry firearms. I carry a firearm concealed both professionally and in my personal life. When I first started on the job one of the guns that was on the approved list for us. As our approval list has both single stack and double stack platform options. Luckily my personal handgun at the time was on the approved list which was the first generation M&P Shield. As time went on I upgraded to a Glock model 26 and just recently I fired a 9 mm 2.0 Shield of one of my colleagues. The Improvement Smith & Wesson made toThe Shield platform seriously impressed me enough that afternoon I went and purchased and brand new M&P Shield 2.0 in 9 mm. Although I do like Glocks but being a lifelong Smith & Wesson fan, it is certainly nice to be carrying a Smith on my hip again. Somehow the the Stars seem to be in better alignment for me now... lol

I have direct experience with 3 of these. I owned a Walther PPS M2. It had every conceivable problem that a pistol could have right out of the box. Every possible thing that could go wrong with it went wrong with it aside from the gun blowing up in my hand. I decided to trade it in instead of sending it to Walther. My friend has a SigP365. Honestly it also has quite a few issues. Stove pipes seem to me pretty constant with both of us shooting. I also own a Ruger LCP 2 in 22 and out of the 3 this is the best one. Its solid. Very few issues. And conceals way better than any other on the list. My main carry now is a Taurus g3c which is great so far, and. ruger sp-101 which is the best gun ive ever owned. I prefer to cc that but it is def heavy. I go between that and the Taurus and LCP depending on where Im going. Overall I dont have good luck with these compact carry guns. Its like a shot in the dark if they are gonna work efficiently or not. I prefer a revolver or a full sized pistol. They just work so much better..
@tymercier23132 жыл бұрын
I've run about 500 rounds through my P365 without a malfunction. What kind of ammo were you using (steel case, reman or brass/non-reman)? Two things: I only fire brass ammo and I never use reman ammo in match barrels (that invites a host of malfunctions). Generally, I use PMC bronze for practice and Magtech JHP for carry/home defense. I'm gonna assume you and your friend's experience with guns is good enough that neither of you are limp wristing your firing stance or riding the slide with your thumb, so the ammo is the most likely culprit. It's possible that the recoil spring has been worn out, but if it's a newer gun, that seems unlikely.

The LC9/EC9 shoots pretty well, but the P365's low bore access makes it much easier to keep on target. P365 has been my EDC choice for 2 years with no issues. I started carrying over a decade ago. I was not well off. I bought a Keltec P11, that holds 11 rounds including one in the chamber. People poo poo Keltec, but this one has never failed me at the range.

chuck middleton - About as light as you'll get if you want to stay with 380. I use an Aholster front pocket Kydex holster specific to the LCP 2 for even less printing (overall width). Love it. I also have a larger pistol for home and car, but not carry. 👍

The M&P Shield comes from the factory with a 7 round and an 8 round mag, but 10 round extended mags are readily available and fairly inexpensive. I have three 10 round mags for my Shield.

Great video, thanks for sharing. We have very strict gun laws here in the UK and it’s near impossible to get hold of a handgun unless you know the black market. I have a vast collection of replica air and blank firing pistols and would love a real one purely for the pleasure of owning one. It’d be the Sig P365 for me if you could sneak me one over the pond. Cheers, Jon.

Factor 1: Reliability is by far the most important issue. Your life may depend on it. Factor 2: Comfort. Ease of carry. Much of this depends on the holster, but if it’s not reasonably comfortable you won’t carry it. My personal favorite: Ol’ Faithful IWB holster canted forward. Springfield XDS .45 cal. 5+1

OK, I own a Gen 4 17 and 26, and a GEN 5 19. I find the Glocks extremely heavy and bulky for concealed carry. I can't understand why a 10 round Glock is so large compared to other 10 round pistols. I carried the 26 for a while but for the bulk I find it more reasonable to just go ahead and carry the 19 now. I also have an LC9 that carries much nicer than any Glock, and I still have and used to carry a Kel-tec P-11 and a SCCY that are much better than a G 26, I know everyone screams "but the trigger is so bad" but the trigger is supposed to emulate the trigger of a revolver, a very deliberate trigger pull so you will not be accidently shooting yourself in the butt when you reholster. Get a great holster and your carry will be more comfortable.

Have same gun with laser. Pretty nice,but I shoot better with my any of my Springfields. My wife traded her LC9s for a Springfield XD mod 2 and her grouping really improved. Seems the adage is true, guns are like shoes, one size or style does NOT fit everyone!

you don't need a single stack for every day carry. you need double stack. The best all time carry gun is the Taurus Gen 4 G2C 9mm double stack. Has a external safety comes with 2 12 round clips/mags, a lifetime warranty, many great add ons fit it. light and easy for anyone to conceal. It's the best value of any just over $200 brand new. They have 17 round extended clip/mags for it.

I bought two TAURUS PT 111, G2's, a 9mm and a 40 Smith. Daughter ran 50 thru the .40, ran 50 thru the 9mm, snatched the 9mm. At 10, she could outshoot me with a pistol. Before I bought, I hit the reviews, Jerry Miculek, convinced me. I'm convinced this pistol will not fail when called upon.

I have a PT111 and a P365. A lot of folks say they are the same but size wise, there is no comparison. The PT111 is a great carry gun and I like it a lot. The P365, which has been flawless for me so far, is the most comfortable gun that I have ever carried. That assessment includes the 1st generation Shield and a P938.

I have a Ruger LCP II. I agree that it is not a gun to take to the range for a morning of plinking. I call it my "Little Meanie". But, conceal-ability is unbeatable. I purchased the Hogue HandAll Sleeve grips and the Ruger extended magazine. They made a world of difference in controlling the recoil. It is my "go to" pocket pistol when conceal-ability is a top priority.
@ejzabojnik8345 жыл бұрын
The Sig P365 is my favorite carry gun. It is very small for the rounds that it holds. Good trigger on it also. Since you included 380 cal. guns in your video you should have included the Sig 238.
@charlesmarshall26974 жыл бұрын
Everyday carry is mostly an APEXed trigger Shield with 10+1 mag stoked with Federal HSTs in right back pocket of cargo pants. With a vest on and shoulder rig it's a Taurus G3 with 15+1 mag and same Federal HSTs. As a back up always is a Ruger LCP2 in 22 rimfire stoked with 10+1 Aguila Supermaxes in a Bugbite leg holster. I'm old and can't see, so all have green daylight lasers and I just put the dot on what needs to be killed and pull the trigger till the gun is empty!
