Since AKs are banned up here in Canada, the VZ-58s are super popular. I used to own one and I loved it.
@darnit19446 жыл бұрын
I still dont understand why they banned the AK. Because it is popular with Islamic terrorists?
@thought_of_a_name6 жыл бұрын
Darren Atm if your talking about ak 47s and similar variations that is because it is automatic therefore making it prohibited.The reason guns like the dragunov is considered prohibited is because (I believe)the government believes that you can turn the dragunov(and anything based of the ak “action”)into an automatic rifle.There was actually a few years ago an airsoft gun of an ak (may of being a BB gun or something)that got banned because the government thought people were converting them to fire actual cartridges(they weren’t).i could be wrong with all this so I recommend you do some research for yourself. *edit for a spelling mistakes
@darnit19446 жыл бұрын
@@thought_of_a_name I believe the Vz 58 is popular and the AK rifle is banned because of its association with terrorists using AK rifles. And for the Dragunov, i actually dont know. I never heard of automatic Dragunov rifle. I think it's impossible to make Dragunov automatic. It is quite rare in the US because it was banned from import (i think). The closest rifle for being a Dragunov is the Romanian PSL and Vepr rifles.
@thought_of_a_name6 жыл бұрын

Yep. Considering you could buy 3 very fine ARs for the price of one of these guns, AND have basically infinite customization options, owning one of these rifles is more about spending the money than enjoying a 'superior' platform. And there's nothing wrong with that. What's the use of having money if you can't enjoy spending it? But scratching your head and making a video wondering why these $2K-$4K rifles aren't more popular is silly. But I def agree on the more affordable VZ. Great gun.

+Pouk 3D but Austria is the ethnic and culturally historical center of Germanic peoples. Vienna was THE center for Germanic music, language, art, and culture. Germanic culture is Central European, as it defines the term Central European. Czech is not culturally Germanic but Slavic. The Czech Republic is a Slavic nation, having more in common with Poles. It is an understandable mistake to classify the Czechs as Central European, but they are not. They are the farthest western outpost of Slavic culture whereas the Germanic cultural capital happened to be farther southeast of the majority of Germanic peoples. This is because Austria achieved unity far earlier than what is defined as Germany today. Think of it like how much of Indiana or all of Kansas and New Mexico are south of Virginia, yet none are called "Southern" states because culturally they are not.

You have to understand why AKs and ARs are cheap. Basically everyone from S&W, Windham weaponry, Springfield armory, and many other manufacturers imported or produced AR and AK rifles. Other rifles are produced specifically from their company. You cant find CZ 805, F2000, AUG, Tavor, and other rifles produced by other manufacturers. @nono-xw6qd8 жыл бұрын
+IH - MTXRGU it doesn't really make sense for any of us. The law came about in the 30's, when the average American only used firearms for sporting (hunting) use and recreational shooting was completely out of the question. That being said, the government believed that there was no sporting use for short barrel shotguns or rifles and if someone had one, then they were a gangster and needed a small, short firearm to be able to conceal it in a coat. Thus, they made them illegal to have without registration so they could take suspected criminal into custody if they were not able to pin any other charges on them. The law is antiquated and stupid. People from every walk of life can now afford to shoot recreationally at a range, and 30's era gangsters are not much of a problem. Combine that with how accessible handguns are now, and the law is bullshit that needs to be repealed along with the entire NFA

I'm sure many people shot recreationally back then...But without adequate hearing protection I'm sure it was more limited hence the popularity of gallery type firearms....But during the depression it may have been too expensive for the layman to be able to afford it back then since they were barely able to afford food...And after the first world war I'm sure plenty of people had no stomach for firearms especially not military style firearms...I think that's another reason why the bans were allowed to happen...Now after the most recent wars, Most of us Veterans adore the weapons we were issued, I never thought of owning an AR-15 until I was ready to medically retire out of the Army...That's part of the reason why AR-15's and AK's have become so popular...

+GrOuNdZeRo7777 Dangerous Things Channel the only people that shot recreationally were the upper echelon with spare money, it had absolutely nothing to do with "hearing protection". For gods sake, you can wad paper into your ears and make good enough ear protection. Cartridges were expensive, and were in limited supply. World war 1 had no more effect on people's preference on firearms than today's wars have, just like you described. Some had bad experiences, some didn't. Think of how many 1903's ended up sporterized and 1911's came home for protection. You make the people scared over an issue (crime) and there can be no surprise why they passed the laws with no real issue. Look at prohibition

Its nice to see Czech guns like VZ 58 and Bren get some appreciation. Most kids only know AKs, even in Czech itself, its not known alot, sadly.

Here in Czech Repuplic a vz 58 costs about $500 from the CZ factory. Full auto variants are even cheaper, but you need a specific licence for that.

Love the list, I would like to see all the B&T products from the USW through APC 556 get more popular. They suffer from the price point as well, but are of better quality and build than the SCAR. On the cheaper end The MCaRBO or M series Sub2k is another that should gain more popularity as it is unveiled. The upgrades from Mcarbo straight from the manufacturer make these guns shine and really outperform any similarly priced ar9, ak9, ruger pc carbine, and others. Watching the shooting team win competitions and then them letting me handle their guns, was amazing. Something I will add to the collection as it deserves a spot.

Am I the only one who thinks the FN F2000 is a terrible gun? it's bulky, feels awkward, doesn't have many options for attachments, I hear the trigger is terrible, and clearing jams is like performing open heart surgery. I think it's overrated.

The Gentleman Different strokes for different blokes. I think Jay Kae says it quite well "Function over form". I think my 1911, Nova and Model 70 are beautiful, but that doesn't mean others think the same. Just like people disagree on what is 'art' when we speak of paintings. Just my opinion solely based on my preferences.

+Jeremy Madsen I understand that, however I was not commenting on the functionality of the SCAR, I was simply commenting on the fact he said it was ugly.

Great Video! I'd love to own a SCAR but like you said @ 3k it's just too much. The FS2000 has been one of my favorites for a while. I think the combination of lack of marketing + none tactical aesthetics is what contributes to it's lack of sales.

Love my vz.58. moreso than any AK I've shot before. Also a huge fan of the Bren, and hoping to see the newer 806 model make it's way to the States in a year or two.

I wish KAC was still working on that "Gatmalite" AR Upper kit, looked promising as a way to solve barrel overheating, but it just disappeared... Could you imagine it in an LMG configuration? Would be years ahead as far as continuous fire support goes...

Super excited to see your 805 Bren SBR!! Excellent decision picking one of those up, btw... I mean, the thing is basically CZ’s version of the SCAR-16 but costs HALF as much (even AFTER the SBR conversion)!! Who can you say no to that?!?

Not a lot of people seem to remember the AR18. Its like a stoner 63 but it has a sleek design. I own one with a wood furniture. I have used this rifle for so many years with a g3 and fal appearance as well as looking as a galil while being a little stoner 63. I have an assault version of the stoner 63 so I hope armalite can release this weapon. They are planning to have it released. I like the AR180 and glad it made a comeback for the ar18.

I had an opportunity to fire a dealer sample SCAR17 in full auto. I would NOT choose it for service. Too light, high reciprocating mass relative to bore center line and stock. And, I do not see where the price vs. construction is a good value.
@bradbury19718 жыл бұрын
Hard to get me to buy something 3x as expensive as my AR that doesn't offer me a substantial increase in performance. Some of these platforms may be incrementally better, but nowhere near enough to justify the cost. So like you said, until they can get the price down on all of these, ARs and AKs will dominate. Great video!
