At #3 you described the roaming legendaries as sometimes randomly moving, but this isnt random at all, they move to a random location whenever you swap routes, the easiest way to catch roaming legendaries is by finding 2 routes with grass right next to eachother and just going back and forth to make the legendary relocate untill it comes to you rather than trying to chase it

In addition to that, if zones are switched using one of the terminus stations (the building connecting two areas), the roaming pokes won't move. So it's quite possible to "trap" them in areas with terminus stations to get to them.

OH also if one uses a repel with a level 35-ish pokemon as the first in the party, the first encounter is basically guaranteed to be the roaming legendary since for a lot of areas wild pokemon don't exceed level 35. On top of that, it seems as though if the legendary flees while asleep (Raikou and Entei can, not sure about the others), they remain asleep for all future encounters until an encounter lasts enough turns for them to wake up.

The hardest Pokémon for me to catch took so many resets I ended up catching it's shiny form. Azelf in Alpha Sapphire. Don't judge me I was but a wee tot- It was a painful, grueling process with Nasty Plot and the fact smacked into my face over and over that my game was half bugged or something, since I COULDN'T use status effects to make it easier to catch. Paralyzed? BARELY DID A THING. Asleep? JUST A SURE FIRE WAY TO RUN OUT OF POKÉBALLS AND/OR KILL IT. After about 10,000 soft resets and me barely knowing anything about shinies, I finally threw one final Pokéball at it... A normal Pokéball.. And caught it. I was mad, excited, happy, and blissfully unaware I'd caught a super rare SHINY version.

In HeatGold SoulSilver my brother and I always tried to catch Latias and Latios and we always failed tracking them. I taught my level 75 Crobat Mean Look and we finally encountered them after endless weeks I used Mean Look, got the Latios down to 6hp and threw about 60 ultra balls and it hit my Garchomp with a physical attack and my Garchomp had Rough Skin and it fainted and 6 year old me cried.😂

I think Lugia of Soul SIlver deserves a spot just for the fact that Hydro Pump, Aeroblast, AND Rain Dance all have only 5 PP and no pokemon has full immunity to all of Lugia's moves, the only saving grace is that its final move has good PP, but still I find 95% of the time I fight Lugia it Struggles itself.

Re: The roaming legendaries. I don't remember the name of the town because it's been years since I've played HGSS, but there is a town that has grass right outside of it. If you go in and out of that town and check the map every time, eventually the legendary will end up in that grass patch. So instead of chasing it all over, you just go in and out of the town until it appears in that section. Still takes some time but it works.

Pretty easy to catch it if you get yourself a Shedinja, none of Kyogres attacks are effective against it and therefore it cannot kill shedinja, just push it down to into the reds, throw shedinja in and keep throwing ultraballs easy peasy

On my first playthrough of pearl, 4 heatran it was a pokeball buffet. 62 ultra balls, 7 great balls, and 31 poke balls. And you know which one ended up catching heatran? One normal old poke ball was the magic one. And if you do the maths, (that was intended), you would get 110 balls. And balls are not cheap.

The absolute hardest ones are the three legendary birds in Pokémon Platinum. The main reason is: ROOST. How many Pokémon are there with both Block and Heal Block? Well, just one: Bronzong. One fun added fact is that Bronzong learns Heal Block at level 67. It takes so much time to get it there. I had it holding a Quick Claw so it would outspeed them. Finally caught all the three birds in a Poké Ball. Tough challenge but after all quite fun to manage this! My final top 5: 1. The Legendary Birds (Platinum) 2. The Legendary Dogs (FR/LG, freaking roar glitch) 3. Latios / Latias (Emerald, because no Marking Map) 4. The Legendary Dogs (HG/SS) 5. The Regis (Emerald, because the challenging storyline)

Having played the first 5 generations multiple times, I will gladly share my experience. This is my top 10 hardest legendaries to catch in any pokémon game (mythical pokémon, that needs to be caught, not given, included). 1. Celebi in original Crystal - just one thing: GS BALL. Good luck getting one back in the day if you did not have japanese version and were not japanese. Even if you did and you were, you had to travel to the point where GS Ball was distributed. 2. Regice/Regirock/Registeel/Regigigas in Platinum - SO.... MUCH.... PREREQUISITIES.... This is probably the stupidest and most annoying legendary(ies) to catch, like, ever, because you basically either need to spend several hours of your time to catch Regis in gen 3 games and you also need certain pokémon, certain HM moves on your pokémon and an ability to read braille chart (information was not so simple to get back in the day like it is today, so there was not that much guides like there is now) or you have to get an event Regigigas, which is much easier, but still not the easiest thing. Not even saying that the Regis have catch ratio of 3. This is even more irritating than those roaming bastards. I will try write down all the steps required to catch this thing: FIRST, catch Relicanth and Wailord and put them both in your party, Wailord first, Relicanth last (reversed in Emerald). SECOND, teach your pokémon Dig, Dive, Surf, Strength (ruby/sapphire) or Rock Smash (emerald) and Fly (ruby/sapphire) or Flash (Emerald). THIRD, find diving patch at Route 134, enter the cave, use dig right in front of the north wall with braille chart. Move through the hole, read another braille chart at the north wall in this second part of the cave. Something has shaken. Exit the cave. FOUR, catch Regice at Route 105. Enter Island cave, read braille chart, stand there for 2 minutes (ruby/sapphire) or make a lap around the wall (emerald; dont know if clockwise or counterclockwise). Enter second cave, catch the ice golem. Exit the cave. FIVE, catch Registeel at Route 120. Enter Ancient tomb, read braille chart, stand in the middle of the room and use Fly/Flash. Enter second cave, catch the steel golem. Exit the cave. SIX, catch Regirock at Route 111 in the desert. Enter Desert ruins, read braille chart, go two steps to the southeast and use Strength/Rock Smash. Enter second cave, catch the rock golem. Exit the cave. SEVEN, trade your golems to Platinum. THEN, if you either traded or caught your Regis, let them join your party and head to Snowpoint temple. This is where it becomes fun. If you play Platinum version, after you beat some stupid puzzle, you encounter Regigigas at LEVEL 1! Meaning that you probably also need a pokémon with False Swipe not to break it to pieces with any attack, considering you are in the post game. After you manage to catch it with some Nest ball or whatever, you can finally rest in peace. Right after you head to the respective areas where your Golems rest and catch them (at level 30, while you are in post-game). I guess that is all. I just got a headache. Also, if you somehow got an event Regigigas and want to catch the one in Snowpoint temple, in that case you can skip the gen 3 part and FIRST need to catch Regis in their respective in-game areas in platinum, which is much easier, but some of them are only available post-game (Including Snowpoint temple itself). 3. Ho-oh in original Crystal - not only you needed to get all three legendary beasts described in no. 4, which itself was extremely annoying, but then you needed to bring them to the bell tower and only then you could catch this fire bird. Also, it is found at level 60 and it has RECOVER. 4. Raikou/Entei/Suicune in original Gold/Silver and Raikou/Entei in Crystal - it was even harder to catch them in original games, because not only they flee if you dont have pokemon with MEAN LOOK (only move with this effect back in gen 2 and it only works partially, as these bastards have the move ROAR, which lets them escape anyway, making you looking mean at the empty grass), put them to sleep or freeze them, but if you accidentally knock them out, they dont respawn and you have to restart the game if you dont want to lose them forever. 5. Rayquaza in Emerald, if you decide to catch it pre-league - not only it is level 70, but it has truly annoying moveset - EXTREMESPEED, which can knock you out if you are not careful, REST, which restores its hp and status conditions, FLY, which evades your attacks and OUTRAGE, with which it confuses itself and you can pray that it wont accidentally knock itself out. You also need mach bike and know the layout or you can spend tens of minutes trying to get past the cracks. Oh, and if you decide to catch it pre-league, right after the event in Sootopolis, good luck, considering your highest leveled pokémon is probably around level 45-50, meaning that even your quadruple effective attacks (Ice) are not dealing much damage considering that the level gap is too big (it is like fighting a level 100 pokémon with a level 70 pokémon). At least it has relatively high catch rate at 45. If you decide to catch it post-league (or post-grinding to be exact, considering you wont get that much more levels beating the league just once), then it probably drops to no. 7 or 8. 6. Lati@s in ruby/sapphire/emerald - same thing applies than for other roaming pokémon, but at least in gen 3 there is also the move BLOCK (3 pokémon has access to it; only 1 of them is available in-game and Sudowoodo is only available in emerald) and abilities like Shadow Tag (exclusive to Wobbuffet and Wynaut in this generation, who are generally unable to get levels on their own, but still something) to prevent them escaping. They also does not have freaking ROAR, so your moves that prevents escape at least work. 7. Landorus in B/W/B2/W2 - well, it is not especially hard to catch Landorus, even considering that 2 of your slots are taken, but its harder to fulfill the prerequisities to even be able to encounter it (catching a roaming legendary and trading another). Taken slots does not really matter, considering it is encountered so late in the game that you probably have your pokémon leveled up enough. 8. Roaming legendaries in gen 4 and later - introduction not needed, they are just annoying. At least since gen 4, these guys respawn if you knock them out. 9. Arceus in Hall of Origin - well, this one is tricky, as this is not the legitimate method to obtain it, considering Azure flute was never distributed, but had it been, it would be ranked at no. 9 for several reasons: FIRST, it was supposed to be encountered at level 80, making it the highest leveled wild pokémon ever (up to that point, as there was no open world and no wild Deoxys). SECOND, it was supposed to have RECOVER, which is less or more irritating than Rayquaza´s REST, considering the situation. THIRD, it was supposed to have HYPER BEAM with STAB, an attack with 225 base power, effectively knocking out anything that is not a ghost, steel, rock or is underleveled. Also, you have to climb to the top of Mt. Coronet to even get to the encounter location. 10. Victini in B/W - this one is also tricky, as you first need to get an event item and then you can choose to encounter it sooner or later in the game, but its level remains unchanged at 15, so if you want to use it in your playthrough, I would recomment to get it sooner. Also this is where it gets interesting. Considering that it is catchable near Castelia City (third gym), at this point you can practically forget Ultra Balls (there is a possibility to get 1 in playthrough before Castelia City, or more if you grind your pokémon with pickup ability) and your best option are probably Great Balls. Also, you probably dont have much money at this point, so your Great Balls are probably in limited numbers. Also, its catch rate is 3 (Rayquazas catch rate is 45, which is 15 times higher). Cheers.

Didn't actually watch the whole did properly but did u say roaming Pokemon can't flee if asleep? Cuz I put entei to sleep with a hypnosis attack and it still fled several times. It was still asleep when I caught it and I put it to sleep about the second time I encountered it. Don't know if its my ss game or u made a mistake. Correct me if I'm wrong

Rayquaza might not be the "hardest", but i love the fact that its probably the only technically demanding Pokemon to catch in the entire franchise. The rest are pretty much just puzzles that you can just google, or just long side quests (which can take a while, but none are especially difficult) . Really hope they manage to do something like that again, that actually requires dexterity/timing etc.
