I have traveled to many hotels across Asia and Southeast Asia and today I narrowed down the top 5 lounges in my experience. The top 5 are all a part of the Hyatt and IHG hotel groups. We have Hyatt Globalist and Diamond Elite status with IHG.

I am now an old lady with several ailments and can’t travel like I did when I was young. At that point, I would go somewhere and get a job, university teaching in China and Turkey, university staff in Paris, etc. Your videos, the series I’m watching now about Allie in Asia, and the grounded life train series have meant that I can travel vicariously. Oh, I got to check out the Intercontinental Hanoi next time I visit VN. I have stayed and accessed the intercontinental lounge in HCMC a few times. I prefer the restaurant breakfast too though the lounge is quiet.

I agree, the restaurant had more offerings but the breakfast in the lounge was so peaceful.

These are the benefits of having Status with the Hotels. If there is an Executive Lounge you will get check in there. I've never visited any of the ones you mentioned. But will be in Manilla later this year and will be looking at the Grand Hyatt. Those evening receptions are always full of food, at least from my experience. Thanks for the Hotels ideas.

I have Platinum Elite status with IHG and will be staying at the Intercontinental Bangkok in December. Will we be able to access the lounge?

You can access the lounge if you have stayed the required 40 nights and redeemed the milestone reward to use the lounge then yes. If not then you will not be able to access the lounge unless you book a room with lounge access.

Lovely video.....A suggestion IF I may. When staying on the Executive / Concierge floor of any hotel, just tell them of your dietary restrictions. You ARE PAYING a PREMIUM to stay on that floor -> simply request whatever you wish to eat for their Happy Hour and they should oblige your request.

Do hotels offer something less appointed but more accessible? For example, a library like area? Something in between the lounge and the lobby? A place where you can go to get things done, outside of your room?

Not usually. Sometimes there is a “business center” but mostly in the US.
