Hello Allie & Rob, Business Class makes air travel so much easier and enjoyable, especially for long-haul flights (but the cost for these can be quite prohibitive). I have traveled quite a bit for work on United (Star Alliance) and I was lucky to receive upgrades with 1-K status and certificates. Now that I am nearing retirement, I'll switch gears, and I am currently planing on using a Star Alliance Round-the-World ticket. Such a business-class ticket is surprisingly affordable, about $ 10 -12 k, depending on the itinerary (about half that cost in coach). The rules for this ticket are rather simple: Travel in one direction, have 2 -15 stops, and complete the trip in one year. I am thinking of Chicago-Barcelona-Munich-Istanbul-Bangkok-Manila-Tokyo-Hawaii-Chicago, which will be a little more than $10k in BC. Thank you for all your great information, -Wolfgang

Just curious, how do you enter the lounges? Do you just flash your Amex card or associated card? Or do you receive an actual "pass" to enter?

Can one purchase the lounge access at the hotel? We are only at 16 nights so far.
@travelasiawithallie8 күн бұрын
Pretty sure we saw people purchasing it, but I'm not sure of the price or value. Room service was a good value and the connected mall has tons of food too.

Seems most of the hotels you stay at have these amazing lounges! Is that typical of the Asian hotels or do you have to check if each hotel you are looking at offers it?

Hi Allie they sell bathtub foot rests. It's has suction cups that hold a barrier that stops you from slipping further into the tub. It's good because I can't reach the edge of the tub at times.

You should have gone into the gym as many of us use the gym daily and would like to see it whether it is full or not. Also at least the entrance area of the spa. The hotel overall is very nice. Interesting to see a Holiday Inn Express attached as you can stay there for less points/dollars and get an included breakfast if you don't have lounge access at Crown Plaza.

Question - Do the elevators require you to swipe your room key in order to access floors with rooms on them? I'm wondering because of all the public/other hotel access such as the gym, mall and pool. Nice Review. Awesome suite with windows on three sides! Cheers!
@travelasiawithallie9 күн бұрын
Yes you use a keycard to go to each floor with guest rooms, all other floors are accessible without the card.

I wish hotels in the US offered food options other than breakfast. It seems like most of the hotels you both stay at in Asia offer so much more for the money.

Are you going to have a members option for this channel? I was thinking this would be one that I would like to join although I'd be happy to join one of the other channels. Thanks for the review for EVA. I never would have thought to fly EVA but after this I checked their safety record and it is great. We go to Japan two to three times a year but you've inspired me to plan a 2 month southeast Asia trip. Still trying to figure out how to get around Vietnam. Just added Manila to the itinerary thanks to you. I guess we're stalking you. I've been to Thailand so probably will skip it but any content you post I'm sure will be helpful.

I love the airport in Taipei - so many eateries and shops, very clean and efficient! As soon as the plane pushes back from the gate, I start falling asleep and the only time I wake up is when they serve meals. Sleeping and eating....it's what I do best!

As always, thanks for sharing. I plan to be in Taipei this coming October. I've been many times but it has been a while since I was last there. I can't wait. I've never been to Manila. It's on my list of places to visit, so hopefully one day soon.

Rob and Allie, I'm so glad you got to the Philippines and now better understand its charm and amazing affordability! And, yes, English is spoken there!! I just discovered your channel a week or two ago, and I've probably binge-watched 40 or 50 of them. I also purchased your KZbin kit, and I'm going to pursue that. I have been married to a Filipina for almost 10 years and I am way too old to retire young, Ha! 😊 But she is still quite young! I've actually had many adventures in my life, including a bicycle trip from Michigan to LA Paz, Bolivia in my early 20s, and also bicycling back and forth across America twice when I was 62! However, although many people would say I am way too old to consider full-time slow travel or spending more time in the Philippines, I am planning on doing exactly that. I figure if I am able to live a healthy life into my 80s, I might as well enjoy it there. I wish I knew what you know back when I was in my forties, but I accept all that is and look forward to all that is to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos! I'm so glad this has been successful for you. You both are entertaining, very informational - and REAL! I know that you have given people a chance to understand that there are a variety of options that would provide a much higher quality of life if they only knew the affordable options. I will be back in touch with you both! Keep up the good work! 🎉

I recommend staying at Shangri-La at the Fort. It is my go-to hotel every time my family and I visit the Philippines. I think they have a much better service and offerings than your standard Grand Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriot hotels.
@justsmy567720 күн бұрын
But can you stay at the Shangri-La on points for the equivalent of something like $54? If you are slow traveling, that makes a difference. A person needs to build points/loyalty with one or two brands in order to slow travel and take advantage of the points benefits.
@christianc694120 күн бұрын
@@justsmy5677that’s the only caveat. I don’t believe they have a points system but I could be wrong. The cost difference is very wide. Your approach is the best way for long term stay and value. Hope you enjoy Manila and the neighboring provinces!

Whenever I'm in the Philippines I go to the " City of Dreams" or "Okada" which I believ are the top 2 best hotels in Manila. Try those places out, if you come back in Manila.
