auzra he also had a piece of shit dad who never believed in him, people don't realize that he probably sees that in every single person who puts him down or says he sucks or that his play style is boring, hbox just wants to prove to every one who doubts him that he's among the best in the world and he doesn't care if he has to play the villain to become the best, I've been watching his streams and he really doesn't seem like that terrible of a guy. Smash did Hungrybox to itself. It constantly shit talked puff so much that no player wants to play her and put up with all that crap, meaning only the most resilient could rise to the top with out quitting or switching mains. Suddenly there's no one decent to practice against when a god of the game (and hbox IS one of the greatest melee players of all time) harnesses a character like hbox does with puff.

If you remember, Leffen and Mang0 had their sets go by pretty quickly, and Leffen was playing it right, with a balance of lasers and approaches. It's just when the other player (I.E. Armada) decides to stall the hell out of the game because they don't want to approach that the game takes 30 minutes.

What's even scarier is that Hbox's playstyle goes for tons of trades. Rests can result in stock trades or get you punished to KO% for example, but he also deliberately plays suboptimally in the first half of the set to train his opponents to go for specific punishes... then reads and punishes the same punishes later in the set. If he's 4 stocking or 3-0'ing you, that means he's even further ahead than he appears to be.

@wahhoreocookie Whether Mang0 has more "knowledge" about the game overall than Hbox is hard to answer, but they both know a lot. And in terms of their direct clashes, Hbox has beaten him at Smash Summit 7, GTX 2018, Big House 8, and Shine 2018. That's almost all of their recent encounters to my knowledge. Mang0 and Hbox from years past might be a different story, but the results speak for themselves. Even considering Armada, Hbox is probably the strongest contender for #1 of 2018 while Mang0 is unfortunately in a slump. Sandbagging doesn't excuse that, nor does it appear to be happening at majors.

Fox is the best counterpick against puff. That's why a lot of top players have a pocket fox just to counter hbox. If you actually take a look at the mains of the top 10 players in melee , there are only like a couple solo fox mains (leffen, sfat). When people say that melee players only play fox, it just isn't true. Like a Pikachu main won the last summit and before that, a captain falcon main won smash N splash. Actually, I don't think a fox won a supermajor at all so far this year.
