I laughed at how true this is tho, 90% of the techskill are just glitches: wavedashing, dashdancing, l-cancelling, stickywalking, waveshining, short-hop double Lazer, short-hop double fair, hell... even chain-grabbing are ALL technically glitches. You were never meant to ACTUALLY do these things IN GAME but the way it's programmed, it allows you to. Doesn't mean it doesn't take skill tho, I still love competitive melee

Take the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in the NCAA basketball Tourney this year. They were ranked 44th in the tournament and lasted to the final four teams. They came from a knock-off Conference with out any major teams.

Phantoms aren't broken. They happen when you almost don't hit the enemy. It's just bad design that they have no special sound or visual effect, so they look like a bug to people who don't know about them. But Pokemon stadium and many low tier characters definitely need a fix. And it's fine that you can endless combo people when it's a 2 vs 1. You have no chance most of the time anyway. Guess we have to deal with it. I guess it could be fixed by the community if everyone agreed to play on dolphin or something. I don't think it can all be done with a memory card hack. And even that would suck, since it is debatable wheather to leave certain bugs in or not, and it is very hard for every tournament and everyone practicing to use the same mods. If nintendo would just release a Melee HD version. With fixes and a graphical overhaul, but with the same gameplay. They could have done it as a bonus in their newest game.

Brawl's meta was centered around Meta Knight. Literally the tier list was determined based on their matchup. Meta Knight's tier gap is fucking huge. He had no weaknesses. Fox and Icies have weaknesses. Fox can get comboed easily. Fox can't zone. Fox is a light fast faller. Ices need nana and popo. Their recovery can be gimped. They have no zoning pressure outside of the wobble. They get dicked on by Puff.

Nobody's trying to make the argument that Melee is more competitive because the entire roster is balanced. It is extremely clear that it isn't. But having a larger, balanced roster roster gives you more options on how to play, not give it a higher skill ceiling. Ultimate is more balanced but it's a much slower game with less precise control on what your character is doing. Melee may only have 8-10 characters that are even viable, but the top level play of those characters' matchups is fucking insane.

When people say Melee is the most balanced. Like really? Falling through a LEGAL stage, an infinite just from being grabbed that is tournament LEGAL. This is why I don't play Melee.

Not really sure who says that... Melee's pretty infamous for being very unbalanced. In any case the wobble is still pretty balanced, many top tiers can pretty reliably kill from a single grab at like 40-50%, plus they are better characters than icies in general and can't lose it like icies can with Nana. It says something that wobbling only moves icies from about 11th on the tier list to 7th-8th Is it unfun? Sure, but that's not a reason for it to be banned. Falling through stadium is really stupid tho, definitely agree

Melee will never be a balance game. Glitches and bugs is one of the reason why people love it. It helps them to win sets and tournaments. Not only Fox is the best character in the game, but he is the best broken character in the game. No one main other characters in the roster but Fox.

Blazen Powers Fox isnt broken (In a balancing aspect), HBox and Armada are winning like 70% of major tournies with Puff and Peach. Hes probably the most balanced top tier right next to 64 Pikachu.

The only problem is that Y-canceling (the invisible ceiling glitch) isn't really a glitch. Sure, it wasn't intended by the developers, but it is consistent and predictable. Although it is not telegraphed great, wavedashing is in the exact same situation and no one has a problem with that. There is a really good video out there explaining exactly how it works in the Big House 5 match.

Being consistent and replicatable doesn't make it not a glitch. A glitch is an error in the program itself. There is no situation where all vertical knockback *should* be removed from a hit. Wavedashing is an exploit: the unintended consequence of interaction between two parts of the code without error. It is intended for you to retain horizontal momentum when landing and airdodging can give you horizontal momentum. Unless there is an extra limitation programmed in, wavedashing is merely a logical conclusion.

Being consistent and predictable doesn't make something no longer a glitch. As long as it is an error in the code, it is a glitch. You can glitch your way into beating ocarina of time in less than 20 minutes. Most if not all of those glitches are consistent and (theoretically, if not necessarily easily)replicable. Are you gonna tell me that opening a door in the great Deku tree and ending up in Ganon's tower isn't a glitch?
