🎁Download my free e-book: AVOID 10 MOST COMMON MISTAKES IN IELTS SPEAKING: social.keithspeakingacademy.com/ARtL
@ArshdeepSingh..4 жыл бұрын
Watch the complete video to fix the following top 5 mistakes: 1. Third Person 's' missing 2. Using Present Tense instead of Past 3. Using uncountable noun as countable (water/sugar/information/news/advice/work/pollution/knowledge/traffic....) --> use some/a piece of/a lot of/little to make plural 4. Not pronouncing the 'ed' correctly or missing 5. Using 'will' for the future @wrong place (1st conditional)
Keith is unique. He knows a lot about other languages. Not only he analyzes every mistake we make, but also explains what causes them. Additionally, he gives useful tricks to correct them. On top of that, he gives some practical advice of how we can get rid of these mistakes. I appreciate his tips for good pronunciation like connected speech and others. In conclusion, a number ONE teacher. He's alone in his field.

Hello Keith, thanks for the awesome video about fixing this mistakes. I've had an idea to automatize the conditional clauses. It's the game "conditional chains". I often play it with my best friend and it's played this way: A: If I'm late, my boss will be angry. B: If your boss is angry, he will shout at you. A: "If he shout at me, I will be scared." B: "If you are scared, you will fall ill." A: "If I fall ill, I won't go to work at all." etc. It works also with 2nd conditional. Sometimes our stories are really long.

Thanks Mr. Keith. You're really doing a great job to help the would-be IELTS takers. At 26:00, you provided some verbs in the past form ending in the inflectional bound morpheme 'ed', i.e., ' lived, loved, raised'', which is pronounced /d/ . However, you also mentioned 'watched'. I think, the 'ed' morpheme in ' watched' is pronounced /t/, as it is affixed to a voiceless sound. Thus, '' watched'' belongs to the first category like, ' walked, hoped, liked, etc.' Kudos to you!

Thanks Keith. I love this video and your delivery and will use it with some of my IELTS students who are serial offenders with most or all of these. Two things: one can use sugars (countable) when ordering a drink: coffee with 2 sugars, please. However, you're mostly right that it's uncountable in most uses. Secondly, practise them (or practice US English)! Once a teacher, always a teacher, I guess! Seriously, it's a great video, interspersed with some lovely idioms, and these 5 mistakes really chime with me - they're a bane of my teaching life!!
@elladao7553 жыл бұрын
Sugar is definitely an uncountable noun. If you want to count sugar, you have to “borrow” some other words like piece, cube, bag... That’s why in daily English, in certain context, instead of saying: a cup of coffee with 2 cubes of sugar please, people often say: a coffee with 2 sugars please.
