4-man content: Drakes rush BB with perf yolna is my go to for DK tanking (since the ult is a bit more beneficial for DKs). For warden I instead use PA BB with echoing vigor to also provide minor toughness

If you're looking for an amazing selfish tank setup, look no further than Battalion Defender, Leeching and Masters Sword and Shield. Heals when you block, heals when you're not blocking and just taking damage, heals + major resistances when you taunt via your pokey poke....It's especially helpful when getting gang r*ped by a group of mobs because Leeching will place a pool underneath all of them and each one hit will give you back health. I run this on my selfish, 4 man vet content tank especially when we're doing trifectas, no death runs etc. Paired with being an Argonian, if I'm ever in trouble with resources or health I just pop a tri-pot and everything is basically back to full thanks to their passive. You can even run a potion cool down glyph on one of your jewelry pieces for even more pots. My support tank runs Magma Incarnate, Powerful Assault and Turning Tide (along with Masters)...but it's not the greatest setup in 4 man content due to the small range of PA and Magma. Perfect for trials when you're stacking a lot though.

The tormentor set, paired with Rushing agony and explosive charge on templar has quickly become my favorite set combo in the game, I highly recommend trying it for anyone who hasn't.

Same can be done if you choose a NightBlade - Lotus Fan even debuffs the targets with Minor Vulnerability for even faster push-forward in dungeons

Got question need some help on , in my prog I’m off tank necro , the main tank runs tt so is it still worth me using necro alt or would it be better I drop it out for barrier, or the tank change tt set ?

heya i’m in the same situation, we basically just check with eachother before applying major vuln whenever the other player did it recently, it’s easy since we’re on voice. before casting i usually say colo in 3 and can he either confirm or deny depending on whenever he procced TT recently or not

@@trialactionjohan Solid, there's arguments for going naz/archdruid over magma incarnate but it shouldn't be that strong of a difference (magma has higher ceiling and also a lower floor, so it evens out). Also if on PC, you can have a setup for trash and a setup for bosses, which for bosses archdruid+TT is best and for trash Yoln+Spaulder/Archdruid is best. Powerful is good for both, but olorime is stronger if not running with a healer. As a 1 setup-for-all, it's probably the best you could do tbh, again maybe magma -> archdruid but I wouldn't sweat it.

This is what I use on my Dragon Knight tank, only difference is I use sword and board on both bars, and I chose the Lord Warden monster set over Magma Incarnate.

This is a good setup for a beginner tank for Undaunted dailies mainly Keep in mind however, that you will not wear any defensive set - meaning you will rely on your own skills and the healer for survival - and the added group buffs for faster damage

In a trial your lead will tell you what to wear but as far as a 4 man group doing random dungeons and such i would recommend crimson oath because everyone is in medium armor right now and heavily under pen. You could also instead use tremorscale monster set but it’s really only single target and the biggest thing in dungeons are the add pulls and crimson oath will greatly increase your speed through them. One other thing to mention on magma incarnate is you will want balance or something to use your health in order to proc the magma because I found that most of the time my healer would keep me at full health and it wouldn’t proc as you actually have to heal damage in order for it to work.

Im useing Turning tide, Yolna, Magma head and Spaulder of Ruin when in good groups, in other cases and trials I put Lord warden..Turning tide is sometimes harder to apply beacose some bosses will attack random player in group and ignore the tank no matter how muck you tount him.. Dont really like when I see tanks with no group buffs like leeching, not also fun of ebon set because you don't need really more health as dps (Im always around 20-24k healt on dps) but some sets are fun to play..love to play my necro with Arkasis and Drake, ultimate is ready every few seconds.. and please give your tanks synergies, players totally ignore skills with synergys and that really boost group dps and give resurse back..

I love the Necro build that uses Drake and Arkasis (Soul-Eater on the tank club’s website)! However do you use it in dungeons too? I guess normal works but do you do it in vet? I feel it’s lacking some skills for vet dungeons so I do need to tweak it. I ran this build as an off-tank in nSS trial and survived😅😱 This was a couple of patches ago tho

Not every raid team will want the same setup to be used and sometimes you'll need to change things depending on the trial also such as not using TT in vAS because it doesn't work properly.

I would like to see a list for top 5 sets for beginner tanks that are working in random groups. I've seen people joining random vet dungeons that can't do damage, heal or know mechanics. A good tank should be able to survive, self heal and dish out damage to carry the fight. For that purpose, it would require completely different set of gear and skills

Beginers will tend to have worse mechanics than vets and less CP to ease building, but you have 2 options imo. First is to go more selfish and cover the holes your build has (stuff like fortified brass until you can reliably get bulwark+fortified or max res without bulwark, or seducer for the sustain you'll be needing due to lack of understanding of the content+role or bani's torment/jorvulds for ease of uptime management). Sadly this setup won't help you much at soloing but will knock off the survive aspect and also the helping the group aspect (remember that helping the group is like 75% class kit and skill bars + ultimates). The second is to use buff sets that also buff your damage, so stuff like Yoln/Pearlescent and Powerful Assault or Olorime, they both help your group and also give you extra damage if you need to carry or need stronger heals for yourself. Sadly, tanking is difficult to dish damage on if built like a tank simply because you spend resources on getting high enough hp, max resistances, mitigations and sustain, it's going to be difficult to expect decent damage out of that type of setup. The last setup is probably going to be just a regular dps with more survivability tools but that will only last till like vet dlc dungeons when things get tougher and the people who play with you get more competent at their role.

I would suggest a beginner tank to stick with friends and guildies as long as they learn the know-how of a tank - when you are still learning the tanks stuff, you will find it mostly frustrating to run with random people (or even after...) Dishing out some damage and carry the fight? As a tank you better forget this rather quick as your job is tank mechanics, survival, buff/debuff and pulling the thrash together If you have to rely on your own damage in any dungeon, then you will have to go as a "fake tank" - which is not recomended if you really wish to learn tanking! For a while pick up the Earthgore (helps you survive more), Bloodspawn (extra Ult - bonus usefullness for a DK or Necro) or Stonekeeper (if your struggle with Stam) for your monster set Leeching Plate and Brand of Imperium are both nice and easy to get entry level tank sets, just like Knight Errant Friend of mine also used Master weapons on his main bar (Puncturing Remedy Shield and Sword from Dragonstar Arena) to give himself an edge for survival, but you also can grab Vateshran Shield and Sword for extra survival and easier aggroing thrash groups

Allession, Almalexia & Oakensoul. Oakensoul is nice but not necessary. Even in the hardest vet dungeons I only need to block if it's a 1 shot mechanic. Almalexia and vigor is a ton of healing for group, my only damage skill is deep breath for trash mobs but you could add burning embers to help dps in boss fights it will apply 2 dots as well as heal you but since I use oakensoul my bar is taunt, vigor, coag, deep breath, and the skill that gives passive major protection.
