Haven't been a fan of softube plugins but I have to say that they nailed it with the Weiss EQ 1. It has very smooth creamy sounding top end, not harsh at all and smooth crossovers. Have been using the Sonnox Oxford for years and have finally found an EQ that might replace it :)

Before I purchase it What separates Weiss from the others and how does it compare to the Gullfoss and AA Erin (both of which I own)?
@michaelwirth6843
@michaelwirth6843 3 жыл бұрын
@@PharaohLawLess1 You are really comparing apples to ... well football players. Gullfoss is some kind of spectral dynamic eq and Erin is full of character. Weiss EQ 1 is the cleanest eq you can imagine. And thats weird, I know, we think it would be easy to make an super transperent digital eq but but it actually isn't. So instead of comparing with those two you should compare with Fabfilter Pro-q3 or DMG Equilibrium and Weiss is able to retain the character of the instrument or vocal better than the two others. It sounds more expensive, it sounds more done.

I have been demoing the Kirchhoff EQ from Plugin Alliance. It is wonderful! It acts like a subtle glue and widener to the master bus. However, I like the Weiss stuff. Can't afford the EQ1, but I will probably buy the little brother to it, the (Weiss EQ MP). I love that little guy.

Subscribed Slate Digital All Access Pass and although there's a ton of good stuff in it, I have to say that I'm so happy with the Infinity EQ. The Eiosis one is also very interesting because of an aesthetic feature: you can name frequencies, e.g. instead of 400Hz you can "name" it Guitar Body. Slate also added a bunch of presets that abuse this naming convention. This feature makes it more useful while mixing and not that much in mastering, naturally. However, I found it extremely useful while mixing 11 mic drum recording where almost all of the tracks needed EQ. EDIT: Since I'm here, would be cool to hear your opinion on analog modelled plugins, because of antialising and all those issues. It's rare to see it good info on that.

Great video ! I use the AVA mastering Eq on almost every track. This video and others, got me hooked on the Infinity EQ. Slate pushed me to try their subscription, which also then got me hooked on the Eiosis Air EQ Premium. Synaptic Schism is right. The Eiosis is amazing on drums ! It gives me spread in the "Earth" and "Air" like no other . . . the Character fader between "Fire" and "Water" is also amazing. The Eiosis Air EQ Premium is a real game changer for me. The next EQ I just invested in is the Kirchhoff EQ . . . Definitely a Desert Island EQ like no other, and it plays nice with all of the others.

Hi tnx for your great videos I'm so sorry I always mention another vsts on the subject, I use sonoris mastering eq because this eq has 5 or six options for avoiding phase issues Anyways when I cut or boost a little I use minimum linear phase but with deep attenuation or boosts I use high or auto linear phase I use low shelf for lowend of my mixes because this is better for my mixes due to my experience and I always get better results and I use high pass filters only on my individual tracks I sometimes use NI passive eq for my busses and master buss if my mix needs to be more punchy for example Deep House mixes Waves broadband or lowband linear phase eqs are great as well specially on pop or classic mixes. But I have to confess that I have never use any mastering eqs better than Maag eq4 for getting very nice highend air to my mixes that's great Also as you explained Ik multimedia mastering 432 eq has good air option. Please forgive me I don't want to tell you guys that I have many mixing and mastering stuffs just I share my experiences on the relevant topic and you don't know how much I love these topics. Good luck.

I use the AVA Mastering EQ every day, and there is zero cramping, at all. I am also truly amazed by the Kirchhoff EQ . . . You can slam the high shelf air to 30db with zero cramping, clipping, or distortion . . . it's incredible.

I have to amend my response . . . After comparing the AVA to the Kirchhoff EQ, I do notice a difference. On the Kirchhoff EQ I can actually grab a high shelf at 20khz and Slam it to 30 dB , and it actually sounds amazing . . . Zero cramping . . . On the AVA mastering EQ, there is some cramping, by comparison, but it is much better (less cramping) than many other eqs that I have used. The AVA is great for additional touch-ups . . . It's a great tool for subtle brush strokes, almost anywhere in the mix.
