Pleated trousers, turn-ups, hats. Yippee, I knew the stylists would eventually catch up with me. Thanks Chris.

Hi Billy, glad you enjoyed the video, when it comes to fashion, it can use past styles to recreate a version of it in the current style and tends to contrast the previous style or trend, hence loser fits opposed to skinny fits etc👍🙂

Thank you for the update Chris. Much appreciated. Like other commentators here, I welcome a return to the more traditional cut and style of jackets and trousers. I hope jacket lengths also move away from the shorter styles we have seen of late that, to my eye, just don't look right in terms of proportion and do older gents, like myself, no favours sartorially.

Hi John, glad you enjoyed the video and I agree with you that it's good to eventually see a move away from the ultra skinny suit look, which genuinely looks painful to wear in many cases, to a more relaxed and comfortable look, I think the jacket lengths will revert back to a more traditional length as well as part of that step back to a more classical look👍🙂

Sounds like my kind of style. Goodbye skinny fit. Wore my fedora and tweed jacket with corduroy trousers yesterday. Hello pleated trousers. By the way that's a great looking outfit today Chris. Thanks for sharing your views on the new trends. I have noticed more gentlemen wearing stylish clothes lately. Cheers Ron

Hi Ron, it's great to hear from you, and glad you enjoyed the video. It's great to see more people making an effort to dress more classically and with more tailored clothing in general. A fedora and tweed jacket with corduroy trousers is a great look, thanks for sharing Ron👍🙂

Good morning Chris Thank the Lord, skinny fit is on the way out. Tans, browns and greens are my go-to colours 😁 so I don't need to root out my wardrobe. Hats🤔 I avoided baseball caps for decades, bought one out of necessity at an event last summer 😬 currently resorting to a Grays woolly hat 🥶🥶.

Hi Iain, great to hear from you, and glad you enjoyed the video. I tend to avoid baseball caps personally but did wear them a lot when mountaineering, back in the day, functionally very good for this purpose or other sporting endeavours, but not the best thing for other situations. Wooly hats at this time of year is sensible. Great to hear you have your go-to colours, hope to see you at the end of Feb🙂

Hi Chris, I am glad the skinny clothes time seems come to an end. It looks uncomfortable overall. I started my MTM suit journey this month. I added turnups to the pants. I like the look of it and the additional weight gives some additional weight which will influence the drape positively.
@TheBritishDapper13 күн бұрын
Hi Kay, great to hear from you, and fantastic to hear you've started your MTM journey. Turn-ups are a great feature, whilst they can go in and out of fashion, sartorially and classically they are a constant. you are right they do add weight and can improve the drape of the trouser. I can't wait to hear how you get on👍🙂

Great video. Have also seen many of these trends or wear them myself. I have bought a few single reverse pleat pants and cuffs. As far as lapels I always felt half way (or a bit more) to the shoulder was a classic look that lasted trends of skinny or super wide. While suits and ties are rare in the USA - I have finally started seeing more sports jackets in the office, and city streets, which is nice to see. The pocket square is the new "tie" to bring up the flair in the sports jacket use.

Hi there, glad you enjoyed the video and concur with my observations. I agree with you that lapels staying in that middle ground of, is a classic look, not too slim and not too broad is a safe bet and doesn't look dated when the trend changes. Great to hear an increase in more people embracing change and using sports jackets more, pocket squares are a great way of adding a pop of colour and interest to an ensemble👍🙂

I literally just bought everything you mentioned this year. New Tweed overcoat with wide peak lapels, 2 new hats(bakerboy & fedora), & I just ordered a made to measure suit with one pair of trousers with pleats & side adjusters, & a second pair that are flat front with cuffs & belt loops for a little more casual look. I soon as I scrounge so more money, I would like to get some lighter color ties for spring/summer & a new pair of light grey suede boots
@TheBritishDapper13 күн бұрын
Hi Sean, great to hear from you. Sounds like we have both noticed these growing trends. It sounds like you have not only, brought some great items, but also given yourself some degree of flexibility with the trouser style. Lighter and brighter in the spring-summer is always a good move and the light grey suede boots are a good choice to make, a very much underrated colour in footwear🙂👍

Hi there great to hear you are a more formal dresser and a fedora/trilby wearer. A baker boy is a great casual cap to wear. Be careful with that longhaired and beret combination as there could be a danger of looking like Wolfie in Citizen Smith 😆

On the subject of lapels, I've noticed a growing interest in the more horizontal gorge angle... It seems the angel wings are losing favour, as the lapel begins point less upward towards the shoulder
@TheBritishDapper13 күн бұрын
Hi there, I had noticed people were going for a higher gorge line in the past and now as you mention it, it is a more horizontal angle, it's about getting that balanced look I think to get that gorge line just right for you personally bringing down those angel wings is a good thing, some were ridiculously high🙂

Thanks Chris! Overall good news, especially on the wider lapels and more classic cut jackets and trousers. One trend that seems to be gaining traction here in the US is the monochrome color look. Personally, as a tall, lean man, it's not for me.
@TheBritishDapper13 күн бұрын
Hi Mike, yes good news overall, and we'll see how far that look goes. Interesting how the monochromatic reappears every so often. In a way it is an easy option and takes less planning, less creativity is needed with colour, pattern, coordination, and balance of a particular look, making it easy. I have and do promote that style as it can be an easy starting point for someone to start wearing a suit of more classical clothes and it is sometimes good to do something a little different or experiment with sartorially, but again for me, like you, it is not my preferred way of looking👍🙂

Where do you get your suits from in the UK?
@TheBritishDapper9 күн бұрын
Hi there, it really does depend on your budget, if you go bespoke, made to measure or off the peg. There are still so many good tailors out there, many good made to measure companies and instore providers, can you be alittle more specific - what sort of budget, are you able to be in the uk fore the time needed to have a suit made, or are you looking for made to measure or off the peg?
@megaman20169 күн бұрын
@TheBritishDapper for a navy suit occasional use, interviews special occasions let's say £400 - £1000. Preferably English fabric worsted wool. If budget allows, an additional charcoal flannel suit too.

Good morning/afternoon Chris: It is nice to hear that those horrible, tight clothes are beginning to disappear; on the other hand, they never appealed to us, the lovers of classical masculine attire (1930-1950). We simply ignore them. 😁Lighter colours are a classic feature in the summer wardrobe as they tend to reflect the sun's rays and therefore, do not absorb heat. I am in favour of rather wide lapels although, for some reason, I am not comfortable with peak lapels. Personally, I adore hats and dislike caps, there is nothing elegant about the latter. Well, that´s it. By the way, congratulations on the beautiful, mirror-like finish of your cap toes. Unfortunately, I do not have access to high-quality shoe-care products (Saphir) in this God-forsaken country; therefore, I have given up on trying to achieve that look. If everything goes well I might visit Europe towards the end of this year and I will do some serious shopping. Greetings from a very hot Buenos Aires 🥵 (average max. temp. 32 degrees) Cheers! 🤩🤩
