Hi there, I wish it were that easy, but in my opinion, looking good takes time, effort, and intention. 👍🙂

So happy you mentioned the tie stick pin! After our conversation last February I went on a tie pin crusade. After much research I discovered the stick pin. This accessory won’t leave that permanent hole in a silk tie. For Christmas my wife bought me an antique gold and pearl stick pin. It’s the perfect balance of practicality and charm. Just a little pop of pearl in the middle of my tie. Best part…no noticeable damage to a fine silk tie.

Hi Pete, glad you enjoyed the video, and that stick pin sounds perfect. Glad I could help and it's great to hear your wife bought you the ideal, one with gold and a pearl is a classic look. I had one just as you have described in the past, but alas lost, you've inspired me you replace the one I had. 🙂

Excellent advice Chris. I do like your tie and pocket square combination. Very dapper! If I may, here are eight additional rules of my own: 1. As well as keeping finger nails clean, they need to be kept trimmed short as well. And don’t forget toenails… unless you like toe holes in your socks! 2. For us older gents, a good grooming regime should include attention to eyebrow, nasal and ear hair…assuming you are not courting ambitions to be a werewolf! 3. Choose shoes and socks appropriate to the outfit you are wearing and for the occasion in question. 4. As well as being ironed and pressed, clothes should always be worn clean and in a good state of repair. If a shirt or jacket button has come lose or fallen off, replace it. If a shirt collar or the cuffs become frayed, it is time for the shirt to be relegated. 5. Dress appropriately for your age. 6. Present trend jackets, such as the one shown at 3:00 mins, are cut short in the body and will date badly fashion-wise. The ideal jacket length should cover the seat of your trousers and be capable of being comfortably gripped by your cupped hands when standing upright naturally with your arms at the side. 7. Don’t be a fashion cookie cutter version of your contemporaries. Just because the other gents in your cohort may be wearing High Street brands in the same style, doesn’t mean you have to do likewise. Be the best version of yourself, dress in your own individual style, and raise the smartness bar to the next notch up in the process; 8.Clothes look so much nicer on a body frame that is the correct weight for your height.

My daughters have named all my, as they term them, "outfits" Today I am wearing jeans and a Submariner jumper. This called "Action Man Adventurer" For obvious reasons... Damn kids😂😂😂

Hi Iain, great to hear from you, and glad you enjoyed the video. Your daughters are just wrong 😆😂. Great choice by the way on these cooler days - I love my Submariner jumper, a pair of jeans, and a pair of brown brogue shoes or boots. I hope you practiced the eagle-eyed action 😆😆

Good stuff Chris. It's a little off topic, but the only thingI'd add would be taking some time and effort to learn and observe manners and etiquette. Holding doors, standing when a lady enters the room etc. a little anachronistic it seems, but, I think, worth the effort.

A very good selection of basic clothing rules! I would just like to disagree on one point, which simply has to do with my personal preference. For me, lapels can't be wide enough. 🙂

Hi there, glad you enjoyed the video, the point you raised - I don't disagree with you, however, for a person starting out on their sartorial journey, I would urge some caution if they have not perfected their style yet when it comes to the lapels. Whereas you clearly have an understanding of your preferred style 👍🙂

Hi there, of course, all of those mentioned in the video, however, I also strive to be considerate of others, treat people politely, oh and never eat yellow snow😆
