BEFORE YOU COMMENT: Bulgaria and Serbia did not exist during the start date. Ireland was more of a collection of minor states. And at the time Burgundy and Bohemia fell under the HRE, which were in the rules that I could not cover. All did deserve honourable mentions, but not spots on the list.
@pawezdziech71204 жыл бұрын
How about Bulgars? Of course the map should be much more detailed (bigger) and some additional events should be added, like Iberian Wedding or possibility to annex vassals. I more thing that shuld be added to the M3TW (yes, 3) should be technological trees - stuffs like other kind of weapons, armour and so on with troops creator. You should have a possibility to adapt some techs from other nations. Isn't this a brilliant idea?

Here you can find map from 1355, during that period the state was at its peak containing .... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Du%C5%A1an#/media/File:Byzantine1355.PNG As I am unsure of the starting date of the game this may or may not make any difference.

But what it, like many of the scripted events, Serbia and Bulgaria arrive. Like how in Rome: Barbarian Invasion the Romano-British form, so do Serbia and Bulgaria, going from Dutchies to Independent Kingdoms. Imagine playing as Hungary/Mavyar and suddenly you get a message: "Hey! These guys claimed Sovereignty!" and would spawn with a full, tier 3 moral stack armies making it highly difficult to take the lost lands back.

Agree. Especially about the Cumans and Georgians. I just wrapped up a campaign as Russia and didn't even set foot in Ryazan, Volga-Bulgar, or Sarkel until about 1300 because there just wasn't much of a point. Having some enemies and maybe a lucrative trade portal like they have in Empire and Napoleon would make that area a lot more interesting.

The Abbasids would be a great addition, since there aren't many Muslim nations. Plus, technically, the (Seljuk) Turks and Egypt swore fealty of them, so they could've been a sort of Islamic version of the Papal States, though with less power (i.e. no inquisitors or excommunication, but you could receive missions from them and they could declare jihads). Pisa would also be neat, since they also had land in Sardinia by 1080. They could have a similar roster to Genoa, though with improved gunpowder instead of crossbowmen. I personally would've picked Sweden over Norway for historical reasons, since while they weren't a major power in 1080, they definitely became one later on. Plus, they owned some land in Finland too at some point, so medieval-era expansion wouldn't be inaccurate. Special mention to the Republic of Iceland. I guess they could just be part of Norway, but they were mostly independent until the 1300s. On another note, Hungary was a somewhat bizzare omission from the Teutonic campaign, since they were making a comeback by 1250 as the Mongols withdrew. Armenia was also sorely missing from the crusades campaign, since the Byzantines are a bit lonely being the only Orthodox faction. And of course, they were a major ally of the crusaders.
@brydenholley19044 жыл бұрын
This would be brilliant. The "Total Vanilla" mod by Azumi does add the Abbasids to the game, along with the Persians and various other factions. Worth a look if you haven't already played it. There are two versions, one for Steam and one for the CD version, which are slightly different. It also extends the map eastwards to include Persia and Afghanistan.

There was a small mod that added Sweden to the Teutonic campaign, though it's just a reskinned Denmark with a yellow and blue colour scheme. Eras: Total Conquest also has Sweden in a few of their campaigns, but since nearly every unit in that mod is AoR, they play out pretty similarly to the other European factions.

Unless I'm mistaken, Armenia was Oriental, not Greek, Orthodox (i.e. split from Catholicism in the 4th or 5th c. and only accepts the first three Councils, whereas the Greeks accept seven), so it's a bit of a stretch to count them univocally as another "Orthodox" faction, even if the term appears in both names.

Serbia definitely existed by 1080 ( the starting date of M2TW). Duklja (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duklja) is the Serbian state during 1080, which declared independence from the Byzantines in 1040. Using Serbia (Grand Principality of) will also do, even though it starts in 1091, though 11 years is really nothing and GP of Serbia is a direct evolution of the Duklja state, the Byzantines also just called Duklja Serbia anyways. In fact, i would like to see Zagreb divided into 2 provinces, Zabreg and Ras/Raska. With Croatia and Serbia right besides each other, it will serve an interestinggameplay choice, just like Venice and Milan, Spain/Portugal/Moors being side by side from the start.

There was a bulgarian uprising in 1072. They could have included it in a possible DLC. It covered most of Macedonia and lasted through the winter and well into 1073. The bulgarians declared a king (he changed his name to Peter III) and had an army in the 10 thousands (sources suggest between 10,000 and 30,000). Definitely adding Skopje or Ohrid as region with Bulgaria starting in it would be just fine . Also i have always felt the region where Belgrad is is kinda empty in vanilla. It would not have hurt to put it in for me at least. Cheers from a fellow history lover!

I would say the following. 1) Zirids (Islamic faction in central North Africa). 2 The Grand Seljuk (was in Chiv 1, splits the Turks into the Anatolian Seljuks Turks, and the eastern Turkmen) 3. Cilician Armenia (An Eastern Christian faction which would accurately represent the Armenians, and would ally with both Crusaders and the Byzantines). Then Georgia, Aragon, Cumans as mentioned in this video, whilst also adding both Raska / Serbia and Genua as well (also Bulgaria on an earlier start date too). In the event of a larger map, the Kwarazmian Persians are a no brainier as well.

Bulgaria was under byzantine empire (i somewhat doubt about bulgaria to if we are looking on historical side of things, but lets be honest here, total war never was really about pure history so i think you are wrong in this case except i miss something you say xd) up to 1185 and burgundy was also a vasal of france found in 918. Since it is more about gameplay for most players those 2 additional on balkan and 1 in france are kinda necessity as both regions become quickly boring to play because france in most cases push england out of Europe easy and on balkans as i said earlier it would add so much more flavor to campaign.

Hey I had an idea: New cultures you would want to see? Like in RTW/M2TW there is one last slot available to make a new culture, what could they be? For example, in medieval 2, I tried this but gave up due to how complex the building files are, there would be a "Mongol" Culture for the Timurids/Mongols (Could include Cumans too maybe). They are able to either be Muslim or Tengrist (Tengrism is a new religion with its own unique pip symbol, building tree based on Attila, shamans instead of priests, etc), the horde portraits from Barbarian Invasion mixed with Muslim ones, and general flavour. There could be other options too, like maybe a turkic culture?

Good Video. I agree with almost all of your points except for the regions available for Aragon. Instead of Navarra which was an independent kingdom, it would be more historically accurate to give them the region of Valencia, a very important harbor. Also it would be nice for them to have a more Mediterranean focused campaign, conquering sardinia, sicily, southern Italy and regions in greece. It would offer a challenging campaing experience with an aggressive playstile. The unit roster would be similar to spain, maybe with better mid tier melee infantry, good naval power, and early skirmishers such as almugabars (historically mountain men from the pyrinees in the nothern regions of Catalonia and Aragon)

Very much agree with number 1. Aragon existed through the absolute entirely of Medieval 2 timeline, and it's influence spread outside of Iberia, stretching all the way to Italy and even Greece. Aragon would combine the best of Spain and Sicily into a really interesting mediteranean nation. The main downside however is that Iberia is already too crowded for 4 nations. Giving Pamplona to Aragon would greatly weaken Portugal and indirectly weaken Spain by removing their eastern expansion opportunity, this would weaken all Iberians individually and give the Moors a decisive edge. I believe to add Aragon, one would have to add a couple more provinces to Iberia. Maybe divide Portugal into two provinces (and make the southern half Islamic rebels) for more Historical accuracy and to compensate their loss of Pamplona and divide Castile into two provinces (Rebel Toledo in the South and Spanish Burgos in the North) so Spain has an easy opening conquest to secure its place as the dominant Iberian power like they historically were. With that said, i would easily put Lithuania as second place in my list. A Pagan option is a tremendously interesting addition.

In Deus lo Vult mod there is Flanders faction. I think it could be quite interesting. I would also add Ireland and Aragon. In the East I would either add Lithuania and Cumans, or divide Russia into Kievan and Novgorodian Rus. But most of all, I would like to see more provinces, the amount presented in Darthmod is quite enough.

Essentially we want all the Medieval Kingdoms 1212AD factions in Medieval 2

I think the cumans should have special steppe nomad traits that allow them to move faster in winter as the rivers and swamps freeze over. Only the mongols share these nomad traits
@koolaidman27024 жыл бұрын
Says drawbacks of the Cumans and Georgia being in game are being stuck in the mountains and having settlements far apart. 5 seconds later -Croatia literally placed in between 4 factions. This is great "right in the middle of the action" Also Serbia makes more sense since they existed for most of the era same with Bulgaria. Portugal is in the game when they werent independent for another 90 years game time.

yeah it would be great to have them in the campaing, but the problem is that this region is already crowded.

Croatia was conquered by Hungary by the time the game starts, and only became independent after world war 1.

This is a good list, but no Sweden? I feel like you can add Sweden in the game.
@MelkorGG4 жыл бұрын
I could have added Sweden, but felt Norway was more interesting.
@Kalletheswede4 жыл бұрын
Sweden beat back a 3 Times larger danish army. It also launched crusades against Finland and Estonia. It was the Only country in Europé without a feudal system and Elected its kings. Before that Swedish Vikings founded the Rus kingdoms. Plus calling a country Russia is wrong it was named Novgorod or Kievan Rus. It is as bad as Spain

Any additions in Europe would probably require a larger map with more territories, though...
@yobitchcantfindme52884 жыл бұрын
Im glad they actually add both Welsh and Lithuania. I think they didnt add Crusader as a horde faction is because of how there're like only 3 Muslim factions and only two get to meet both Mongol and Timurid, and imagine add Crusader as well. Its gonna be hardest game ever, Anatolia and Holy Land gonna turn into a chaotic battle field with these 3 hordes factions But as in a dlc Kingdom, lol.

This would be pretty crazy but the ultimate Med II experience for me would be a map using the kingdoms expansion scale with thousands of settlements throughout Europe and many more factions and barely any rebels...not very historically accurate but would look something like this starting around 1100. Kingdom of England Kingdom of Scotland Kingdom of Ireland Kingdom of Wales Counties of Brittany Duchy of Normandy Counties of Flanders and Friesland Kingdom of the Franks Kingdom of Norway Kingdom of Denmark Kingdom of Sweeden Principality of Novogrod Principality of Smolensk Principality of Kiev principality of Rostov Kingdom of Poland Teutonic Order Kingdom of Lithuania Duchy of Pomerelia and Pomerenia The Holy roman Empire (split into the major houses with a chance to unify?) County of Toulouse County of Provence Duchy of Aquitane Kingdom of Navarre Kingdom of Leon and Castille Kingdom of Aragon Kingdom of Portugal Counties of Barcelona, Valencia and Zaragoza. Almoravid dynasty Hammadid dynasty Zirid dynasty Republic of Genoa Republic of Venice Duchy of Apulia and Calabria County of Sicily Republic of Pisa Papal States Kingdom of Croatia Kingdom of Hungary Byzantine Empire Sultanate of Rum Cuman Khanate Seljuk Abassid Caliphate Kingdom of Georgia Fatimid Caliphate County of Tripoli County of Edessa Principality of Antioch Kingdom of Jerusalem and probs some more

I would like also Sweden and some dutch trading city-state(maybe as vassal to HRE)(militia-heavy, like italian city-states in game), maybe also late-game hordes of Swiss and Hussites in suitable places since Western Europe lacks invading hordes unlike Eastern Europe.
