My main goal of this series is to keep it as a Top 5 Series about Total War, yet still give it and incredibly historical focus where, hopefully, most of you can still learn something. If Total War Profiled is about looking at the History in the Game, the Top 5 Missing Series is looking at the History that is not there, that got overshadowed. (I am also certainly not saying the game needs these factions)

Great video, if you like moding games maybe you can add them, though I personally feel that Egypt, and Iraq need more settlements to represent their immportance as well. True some of them will probably be close together, like babylon would be close to Selucia, and Assur would be relatively close to Hatra, but it would make Egypt and the Selucid Empire stronger. I might be a Selucid Empire fan boy, but let us be honest these were areas that had been inhabited for a very long time, so it makes sense to include, Aswan, Abydos, Faiyum, and more to represent the population densitiy allong the rivers. Plus you could even give some of these settlements to the Parthians, and have more rebel settlements to represent local rebelions to Alexander's successors the Diodochi.

Adding Trapezus as a Greek City between Sinope and Kotais would be one of my additions personally. It was an important trade hub and historically it became the center of the region once the Pontic Sinope fell. Also, Ecbatana just below Arsacia to give Parthia a bit more financial wiggle room at the start could be smart. Sabratha, or Abrotonon as its name was around 270 BC, would also be a nice Poenic-Hellenic rebel settlement on the Mediterranean coast between Lepcis and Thapsus. It was historically a big city and would also make Carthage much stronger when they eventually take it within the first few turns, much like Salamis for Egypt. Having mentioned Egypt, Paraetonium located between Cyrene and Alexandria is a must, I believe. It was far more important than Siwa, and was never meant to serve as its port as the game puts it. Lastly, Tigranocerta in modern day Diyarbakir-Turkey would make the game much more playable in the mountainous eastern Anatolia region. It should probably start as an Armenian settlement, though it could be listed as a rebel town to make the region a free-for-all between Seleucids, Armenia and Pontus in the beginning. Honorable mentions are Panticapaeum in Crimea, Burdigala and Alalia as Melkor said, and Apollonia Pontica in the Bulgarian coast of Black Sea to the east of Tylis. Cheers!
@napoleoncomplex27124 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about Burdigala. Walking through that part of the map as the Julii feels like walking through a desert. You can sometimes get into a bit of a brawl with the Gauls on your way through there, but its mainly just an open space where armies sometimes meet on their way to more important engagements. I suppose it does give the area a bit of a crossroads feel (think historical crossroads like Thermopylae and Kawanakajima in Japan). But a settlement there might give people something to fight over other than Narbo Martius, whose main function seems to be to annoy Julii players by forcing them to hold onto the worthless patch of dirt too far away from Massalia to be supported by it.

Saguntum was also the site of a battle between France and Spain in the Peninsular War. A larger Spanish army attacked and was defeated by Louis Gabriel Suchet. In the aftermath, Valencia fell. France took a large amount of cannon and 18 generals as prisoner.

While we're talking about missing settlements, London is an extra one. London, then called Londinium, was not founded until circa 50 AD, by the Romans after they'd conquered Britain.

Nice video! I would have to suggest: 1) Iconium (under Seleucid control) between Sardis and Tarsus. That part of the map didnt seem very strong for the Seleucids and it would break up the long, thin rectangular provinces of Sardis and Halicarnassus. 2) Another province in eastern Illyria (maybe Singidunum) as that province is too big and awkward. 3) Perhaps one of the Garamantian settlements south of Tripolitania for the Numidians to link Dimmidi/Nepte with Siwa in Libya. That would stop Carthage blocking off Western Africa and help the Numidians move troops around. 4) A Scythian settlement above the Caucaus mountains to split up the massive Tribus Alani province and encourage fighting in the southern steppe. I never saw much fighting over there between Scythia/Armenia despite historic steppe tribe invasions.. the cities were just too far away from each other. 5) Another Spanish settlement north of Cordoba to link up the Spanish lands... would help them a lot!

I prefer settlements from Rome 1 vs Rome 2. Rome 2 left out a lot of Greece which was one of the central areas at that time in history. Greece in Rome 2 should have had Corinth, Thermon, and perhaps Patras.
@MelkorGG4 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree. Greece is really lacking in Rome 2.
@volbound17004 жыл бұрын
@@MelkorGG At the very least, they could have added Thermon to the Macedonian region (still had enough cities to fit Thermon) and made a new faction - Aetolian League as well as added Patras to the Achia region and made a new faction - Achaean League. Corinth would have been hard to fit unless you dumped Crete. Perhaps do a island region with just Crete + Rhodes. Still would have been nice to have all three of these cities.

- Singidunum - . It is ridicilous that there are no settlements in Moesia (Modern day Serbia). It is even more ridicilous that Segestica is a Settlement which controls the province of Moesia/Illyria when it wasn't even a part of it. Maybe it was a part of Illyria but definitelly not of Moesia. The province looks like a giant triangle with Segestica in the far far western part. Also, it is even more ridicilous that even Medieval 2 didn't fix this problem, with Belgrade not being added even though it was a huge trade city in the Middle Ages fought over by the Hungarians and the Byzantines. Just look at the province that Segestica holds and read about ancient Singidunum and you'll see what a major chunk of history is missing
@MelkorGG4 жыл бұрын
I did think about adding one more to Illyria, but decided against it last minute.

@@MelkorGG You are not too much at fault for not adding it, as the game starts in 270 BC and the Pre-Roman Singidunum wasn't that big of a settlement (But to that end Segestica wasn't either), but no Belgrade in Medieval 2 is outright retarded
