This little exercise proves the marginal difference between the "modern" cartridges and the old standbys. Don't blame them from trying to sell guns and Ammo.

Those who love the 6.5 Creedmoor doesn't like it being compared to the 6.5 Swedish as that is a hundred years old and way to similar to the Creedmoor. Sure the Creedmoor can be loaded for higher pressure, but I've heard a lot of people talking about loading the 6.5 Swedish just as how. Yes that's beyond the specifications but it shows that the Creedmoor isn't as special as some people want it to be. Personally I would probably choose a 6.5 Creedmoor if I built a new rifle just for the design specification being done to handle a slightly higher pressure, but for most users it probably isn't a big deal.

The only thing different about “ modern” cartridges is they have faster twist rates. This has made higher B.C. bullets available to be loaded The advance in the variety of Smokeless powder has had more to do with these “new “ long range rounds being developed than the shape of the brass. When I started hand loading in the 1980’s there might have been a total of a dozen powders slow enough for bottle neck cartridges available.

Everyone uses 100 grain 243 for deer. The difference between it and the 109 grain 6 mm Creedmore is negligible at 400 yards, which is longer than most hunter will ever shoot. That's why the 6 mm Creedmore will never catch on. The 6.5 PRC and 270 are identical in performance, another flop. 7 mm PRC (another flop) should be compared to the 7 mm mag. 300 PRC (another flop) vs 300 Win mag, again no practical difference. None of these new rounds will catch on.

The act of creating top-5 lists of anything is quite childish and frivolous.

Wow, you must be Seth’s side hustle. Talk about drinking the Hornady Kool-Aid. You missed all of the WSM’s and the 6.8 western. All of them worth a look. You lost all of your credibility, sir.

You should have done the top 10 or 11 cards so you could have added the 22 Creedmoor, the 65 Grendel, the 6 ARC, 22 ARC, and the 22 HRM. Oh wait a minute you could’ve just called HORNADY take over the world.
