mate, your cranking this video stuff ….. have not done a couple of things that you have, but, I have been hearing some absolute rave reviews about tcm alterations or transmission mapping …. not ready right now for lockup/mapping and will be listening …. well done on yet another vid ….. thumbs up
@JafffaAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind words, I really do appreciate it. I agree, I have been hearing some rave reviews on transmission remaps as well. For me, the old trick of putting the selector into sport mode and selecting 6th, coupled with the TC lockup kit works just fine so that’s the extent of my transmission modifications. If you go down the remap route let me know how it works out. Cheers👍😎

I have always had air lockers in my LC's. Guess whose new LC ute doesn't have air lockers ? Mine. After always having them I am now very careful when I go out into a muddy paddock. For 10 years I never got bogged because it was drought but now that it's raining more often I need them. In 2021 I got bogged a couple of times and 2022 so far about twice also.. If i had lockers i probably wouldn't have got stuck and had to use the winch. So I can recommend air lockers to everyone.LOL hahaha :-)

I love them too, makes a vehicle so much more capable and you don’t have to flog the crap out of it to get though some tough spots.👍😎

@@JafffaAdventures Having grown up with locking diffs on tractors as well as 4wdrives I have learned a few things, namely : Diff locks, good suspension and driver skill gets you further than any tyre tread pattern. I've also learned that skinny tall tyres are best too. The stupid 4wd magazines say that the first thing you need is a set of mud tyres and this is just wrong. An air compressor, bullbar, first aid kit, training in 1st aid and 4wdriving and a set of lockers is more essential than a bloody rubber donut. Wanna know a secret ? It's about contact pressure - not tread pattern. The trouble is that you often can't fit skinny tyres and rims to modern 4wdrives for insurance and ADR compliance.

Several of your mods are related to the diesel, but what about the 5.7 petrol as y'all call it, what then would be your top 5 mods? Fuel efficiency is not near as good so long rang tank is a must. Been thinking of a diy auxiliary tank. FYI, you have one of the best sorted rig I've seen. Been in an 80 & 100, but looking for 200 so as to be able to tow more.
@JafffaAdventures2 жыл бұрын
It’s a good question that I do not have an answer for. I can only speak from experience which is why my video is focussed on the diesel. My opinion re petrol mods is just that, an opinion which would be factually baseless. I prefer experiential commentary so I’ll leave opinions to others far smarter than me. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
@kellstat2 жыл бұрын
@@JafffaAdventures I'm not for sure but I thought most things are the same except motor & following components? I will have to get a 200 1st. Curious to know if torque converter will act similar in 5&6 gear. Plan on towing uptown 8k+ at times, but probably try to keep it around 5-6k when "touring". I did y'alls lingo! Do you tow with your 200? If so, what weight?
@JafffaAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Yes I’m not sure what crosses over between the petrol and diesel either. I do not tow. For our type of overlanding it’s a bit too restrictive. Cheers😎👍

Hey mate enjoy your vids, looking at rhino hide for my 200 series cruiser, do u recommend? Do u travel at highway speed with it on? Had any come off? Do they leave a mark in paintwork were they attach with the magnets? Thanks
@JafffaAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Brett, I appreciate it. I’m not sure if you have seen it, but I have a detailed review video on the product specifically. You can find it in the Jafffa video library. It answers most of your questions. The video closes with me not having a solution to clear coat marks. I have since found a solution by affixing sticky backed felt to each magnet. Since doing that, never had a drama👍 Cheers😎

@@JafffaAdventures Thankyou for your prompt reply very much appreciated, i did watch your full review on rhinohide. As you may be aware rhino as ceased production on rhinohide, can no longer buy, and they are releasing new product around xmas. After speaking with them they are saying it will be a permanent type fixed product thought they said glued on?? I dont like the idea of a permanent product so was looking for the old rhinohide. Thanks again
@JafffaAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Wow, I was not aware they ceased production. I agree, if the new product is glue on I can’t see it being very attractive for people. I’ll watch the space with interest, thanks for sharing. As an aside, I don’t see Rhinohide come up on the second hand market too often. Cheers👍😎

Thank you mate, you are very kind for saying so and I do appreciate it. The stickers were purchased from Australian Images. I used them as a stencil and painted the writing. I show how I did it in the bonnet scoop series, second from last episode from memory. Keep the shiny side up mate. Cheers 😎👍

Hey Terry I was looking for the modification you did on the soft close tailgate hinge do you have a link to the video or the product by any chance?
@JafffaAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl, sure do mate. KZbin will not let me put video links for Jafffa Adventures in the comments (nor any other channel) but if you scroll through the Jafffa Adventures library you can find it or type "4WD Rig Rundown. Landcruiser Overland Tourer. Episode 2/3 The Interior" in your search bar. I have a little bit of information at around the 7:50 mark. The part numbers you are after are 66120-60021 (Hinge) and 67028-60010 (Damper). I would get them through Amayama rather than your dealer as I'm sure they will want your first born for payment. They are currently selling for $51.24 AUD for the hinge and $66.32 AUD for the damper. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Keep the shiny side up mate, cheers!

Hey Terry, your fuel consumption sounds awesome. Do you mostly do highways driving? All I have is a 2inch lift and roof rack and it's chewing 15.9 mix driving. Would you say this is normal without lockup kit and unichip?
@JafffaAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, thanks for the question mate. My current fuel consumption varies widely depending on the type of driving I am doing. For example, heading home on the highway today at 100km/hr she was running around 12l/100km. Push it to 110km/hr and that drops to mid 13’s. On dirt with my tyres down to 30psi I’m around the 15l/100km and on sand it drops to 20 to 25l/100km depending on how soft. I’m happy with that fuel consumption and definitely remember noting an improvement when I fitted the 3” exhaust, the chip, and the lock up kit. I can’t remember exactly what I got pre mods but I thought it was better than the numbers you are seeing. I know that’s not a definitive answer, but it’s the best I can recall. Personally I would not be that happy with the numbers you’re experiencing, but I could also be conditioned by what I have been getting. Thanks for watching mate😎👍
