Bro can we see some street fights. I’m tired of bjj and mma guys saying “that would never work in the cage “ knowing full well most karateka have no ambition to fight in a cage. Awesome work btw OSS! 🥋

Over night, I posted a list of the ten most devastating Karate moves I know for real life street self defense in life or death situations. Eight of the moves are BANNED in MMA and the other two SHOULD be banned. Groin Kick is number 10, and the other 9 get progressively more brutal up until one hit maiming and one hit kills are discussed, which are obviously banned in MMA. I can absolutely defeat TWO Okinawan 2nd Dan black belts attacking me from two directions at once, even in my current medical condition, which is pretty bad. As long as I can apply a wrist lock or side arm control, I win. All I need is my 1000 pound right cross and my 2800 pound right thrust kick, plus some grappling moves, ( I know hundreds of those) and I win. I have tapped out professional Gracie Black Belt fighters who had over 20 professional wins in regional leagues, and don't even consider BJJ a viable style for street self defense, because BJJ does not work vs multiple attackers. You'll get clubbed in the head by an unknown second attacker while you are on the ground wrestling with your first attacker. So BJJ does not work in a street fight. KARATE does work in a street fight. We know because we've had blue and green belt women survive gang rape attacks and maim 2 male attackers in self defense. I challenge any BJJ black belt to try to beat two unskilled male attackers by grappling against them. LOL. not happening.

He literally punched one guy in the face so hard his eyeball popped out and was hanging by its nerves outside his eye socket. Pretty brutal stuff. His nephew oiled him down with baby oil so nobody could grab him to grapple with him. lol.

Just watching your video really drove home just how international traditional Chinese and Japanese martial arts are. Heck, you can include Okinawan and Thai martial arts in the international community. For example, being a Choy Li Fut guy, I can look up CLF anywhere in Europe, the Americas or Africa, and be able to follow because even though I may not speak the language, they use the Chinese terms. It's the same with me following videos on Japanese and Okinawan katas because the Japanese terms are used. I like to use the very first move of Heian Shodan as an example of clinching, with your left forearm turning a downward block into a strike on a bad guy's arm for when someone grabs your left shoulder.
@GermanSausagesAreTheWurst4 ай бұрын
As I get older I'm coming to the conclusion that most styles are actually grappling styles. This guy makes a great case for Karate being a grappling style, but even large frame styles like CLF or Long Fist have a lot of grappling in them. I do Tai Chi these days, and it's mostly in the Clinch range.

6:06 seeing karate like this made me think it was just random smashing. A couple months training with Kyokushin guys showed me that they're actually pinpoint accurate, toughened and efficient. You're not just hit, you're demolished, unable to hit back or defend yourself and actually feeling profoundly sad about the whole martial arts thing in your life. So not just a strong, conditioned body is required, but also the mind and spirit are tested. I say this from a place of love: fuck kyokushin.

@KarateBreakdown4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I’m a Shorin guy but my objective answer is always “it depends on the dojo and instructor and not the style” 👍 I’d say if you were looking for a school, make a list of things you’re looking for (like self defense) and then do trial classes at any school to see what fits your needs.
@GermanSausagesAreTheWurst4 ай бұрын
Whenever somebody asks "is this style better than that style" the answer is always "it depends". One way to tell is if they are more concerned with sports, it's probably not as good for self defense. But as long as you show up for class, you will benefit from it either way.

Anyone can train elbows and knees. That's not even "real karate". Real Karate already teaches Jiu Jitsu and Judo when the "Karate' instructor actually knows what he's doing. Observe Grand Master Advincula teaching MMA about 30 years before the UFC was even a thing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJeac5t7pbOZldEsi=1Lr_se3F92Qp0AMG Everything here is legal in MMA except the groin kick, including the shoulder dislocation and the elbow dislocation. Also note the double Ippon Judo throw vs two simulated attackers. This one is Grand Master Calandra and Wansu Bunkai, which also has a lot of Judo and Jiu Jitsu in it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZfFfmCBppp3o5osi=1ZTa_am37-qxexM3 5 of the 6 purposes of Isshinryu bunkai of kata is Jiu jitsu and judo related. Only one of the six points is striking related.

Also, I love fighting in a clinch and applying wrist locks and arm bars to my opponent(s). At the time I was black belt testing, I could defeat two Second Dans attacking me from different angles simultaneously. The trick is to catch the smaller opponent in a wrist lock or arm bar and then keep their body between yourself and the larger opponent while you kick their guts out. Once the smaller opponent taps out or shouts "I quit", then you throw them aside and beat the bigger guy. Easy! Oh yeah, the Naihanchi clinching Elbow is one of the most devastating combined grappling/striking maneuvers in all of martial arts. You could literally break your opponent's jaw with that.

@robizu63214 ай бұрын
Quite the opposite, precisely real karate does use knees... you don't see knees in karate fights for reasons of competition rules and not for reasons of technical staff of the art... knees are always part of the kata and therefore part of the technical staff since the beginning; karate point sparring competitions are what make one believe that karate doesn't have much more than half a dozen blows
