Dude, those Naihanchi techniques should rather be shown by the MMA clips of Karate fighters like Machida, not BJJ folks. Lyoto Machida even managed to pull off the double punch of Naihanchi Kata against Ryan Bader during his UFC career.

Its different styles of Karate such as Kyokushin, Shotokan, Gojo Ryu, Shito-Ryu, Isshinryu and so on.I get your point.The late great Mas Oyama fought against the ideal of traditional Karate was being turned into a dance,refereing to rhe sports aspect of it when you pulled your punched and kicks,he hated the ideal and this was back in 1947,he later formed his own style.I agree lets make Karate great again.Make it more practical but keep its traditional roots and rhe true power.

Branch of Shorin-ryu? I like pulling out large/chunked take sets from each kata to work with initially. I think that helps people start to see how to work with the kata material more systemically.

I would like Karate dojo's bring us some people from street of different levels to fight with, spar with, so it's real. This is something I used to get from a different dojo but after he passed away it got closed down, son didn't want to run it and he left to do his own thing. That was the one thing helped me a lot in real situation. It helped strength my system to stay calm, to be alert and far more self aware and have experience with real fights. Helped me to be far more aggressive too. You need that in this world. Also no belts. No points scoring training. They don't help in real world.

THere are two kinds of martial artists: the ones who train with friends who are passionate about it, so that they can ignore the worthless piles of shit that instructors are; and the ones who quit.

Great video! Karate can be respected again, but it has to change. Your idea of having a karate grappling certificate is a great start. Much like how you have a black belt in BJJ and Karate, the great Karate masters also had black belts in Judo. Why not combine the arts? In Japan, most of the traditional schools also train their students in K1 style fighting (huge evolution from the point sparring days). Another thing that appears to be more common in Japan is the amount of hybrid Karate systems out there: Kyokushin Karate, Kudo, Shidokan Karate, Nippon Kempo, Ashihara Karate, Enshin Karate, Seidokaikan, etc…Looking forward to more of your videos.

I'd rather keep underrated martial arts such as Kalaripayattu, Chinese Martial Arts, Korean Martial Arts and Japanese Martial Arts neglected because it was made for weak and nerdy people like us, not everybody should run around with the knowledge we cultivated. I'm talking from experience, I've met many people, men like women that made me come to the conclusion that underrated, mocked and neglected martial art knowledges from Asia should stay away from people's understanding. The world is too wicked.

My gripe with todays martial artist and schools are they claim too be self defense but they dont spar...only kata. How on earth is kata alone gone help you overcome gettin punched in the face? Im definitely with you when you say make karate hard again
@KarateBreakdown3 күн бұрын
100% kata is the foundational building block but you need to spar with it to make it work

The problems is that many people outside of martial arts lump hobbyists with professional fighters. Nobody would assume that 10-year-old child who plays basketball would be able to match the skills of professionals in the NBA. Yet many laypeople assume that a middle-aged martial arts hobbyists is on par with a professional fighter. Martial arts CAN be for everyone as long as people distinguish between hobbyists and professionals/competitors.

That's definitely Karate's fault, you'll see children and fat middle aged men with black belts, they removed the prestige by themselves

You’re on a good start. But remember karate is just one tool in ya arsenal. You also got the strength and conditioning part as well. I cannot stress this enough how important strength and conditioning is in fighting. In real time combat you also gotta add boxing fundamentals in it to also make your karate much more potent. The beauty about boxing is it will humble you no matter how tough you think you are.
