Warren is also a very disease resistant tree. I have this tree in my yard and it's my favorite pear. The fruit has a wonderful sweet and spicy flavor and the texture and juice are pearfect.

Any low chill pears?
@MarkRoberts-k8s6 ай бұрын
I live in Louisiana and when my parents bought a house there were 2 pear trees in the back yard . They were about 5’6” tall with long bushy limbs growing out. One was a canning pear and the other was a eating pear. These pears were so large about the size of a large soft ball and we had to take 2 X 4 boards and cut a V notch in the end of them to prop up the limbs due to them being about to break . Those pears were so juicy and sweet in there own category. Was this just a fluke for these trees growing such large fruit year after year or is there a category of pears that grow this large?

I see zone 9 mentioned as being suitable to grow all of those pears. I live at the margin of zone 8b-9a and many winters I do not get 500 chill hours. None of the pears you list have I ever seen recommended for coastal northwest Florida.

Bartlett and Red Sensation are essentially the same pear. Red Sensation is a sport, or mutated bud, from a bartlett tree, so the genes are nearly identical.

Wait Bartlett is considered invasive and causes problems because it breaks so easily!?

Bosc for the win in my book

Is bosc mealy? I like something like Anjou or crisp & juicy types. Doing research.
@alexlanuza19909 ай бұрын
@@gofigure4920 I think you would love the bosc, just have to eat while still crispy before it ripenes too much. The texture is much like that of jicama only much juicier and sweeter. If you compress with a finger and the flesh gives its already too soft for me.

We hadden vroeger een Winterjan in de tuin. We hadden er geen verstand van. Hij deed het niet goed. Toen adviseerde iemand uit de buurt om een spijker in de stam te slaan. Wat zou het nut hiervan geweest kunnen zijn?
