Mint has really shown the importance of having 40-80 damage weapons and I hope we see a few more popping up in the next game. It's really easy to think about the minimum damage needed to combo with something, but forget that having some margin makes those far more consistent when factoring in sub resist and healing. Personally I would also love for big swig to get 80 max damage on its horizontal. It could allow the weapon to carve out a more supportive combo niche compared to the slayer one decav provides. Plus if they ever give line 20 damage then it could give swig the close up reliability it needs to work better in fight heavy metas.

What about Big Swig Express? It paints really well, has a up close one shot, and pokes 40 damage from a real far distance. Angle shooter can quickly paint its feet or kill a fleeing enemy, and rain helps with area control. What makes Big Swig not as good as the other option?

This video and the Dualie Squelchers video made me realize how much Mint’s 40/80 damage flicks open up so much potential to enable so-called “low damage” weapons like DS and Splash. Prior to its introduction, it must’ve been really hard to slot such weapons into a comp since 28 is such an awkward damage number. But not anymore! It’s glorious, really. Edit: It also combos with the 26 damage of Edit (heh), so Mint could be good to run with it and Flingza (as seen in the video where Slosher was the 4th weapon). Mint also enables the 25.5 damage of Dousers and, heck, even the 24 damage of Aerospray and Nova to get one-tap kills (though I'm not sure how often you'd be running the last two...)!

I'm glad Mint is getting more of the recognition that it deserves. I picked it up fresh off of inkbrush, and I 5-starred decav in half the time it took me to 5-star the inkbrush, and it actually let me have FUN in the game. Even through awful latency issues present in Splatoon 3

I really like using the Reef-lux deco, especially for rainmaker. I use object shredder with it and it lets me slow down or completely reverse the efforts of teams trying to break the shield.

I feel like big swig and undercover are very underrated supports in low level. Team comps are much more limited by paint, and much worse at dealing with anchors because of worse movement and positioning, so having ways to put down a lot of paint safely is pretty strong. And their flexibility as relative strong fighters against players that don't know enough counterplay is very helpful. Out of the two undercover's kit is probably more useful in zones, but I can see both working if more teams are willing to experiment rather than simply mimicking top level. (Don't get me wrong, looking to top level can help, but whats more important than the comps themselves are the principles behind them )

I think stent is underrated, its shield is so versatile for so many different things, paint, pressure, defense, it works with nearly every weapon as well!

Well that’s nice to see one of my mainest mains (dapples nouveau) in the list lol. It’s just a shame tho cuz I really don’t like reefslider and never have, but I hate beacons and coolers worse lol, and the main being so good fortunately makes up for it to me. Also I’ve considered decavitator to be my 5th most annoying weapon in the game to fight (behind wellstring, range blaster, e-liter and hydra) so I can sympathize with your point there.

I think welstring is getting pretty popular, specifically the second kit. I see it in many comps now. It's personally one of my favorites. The combo potential is so HIGH and the one shot is wonderful. The ability to locate the enemy and even damage them/move them from wave is also nice. Though to make wave actually good I run some special power up to make the radius at least as far as the weapon range so no one is safe 🔥
