A few years ago I stayed in an Earthship in Taos, NM, USA with 4 other family members. It was late November and we had a blizzard that night. We were so hot (97 F) that night I had to open the cooling tunnel to cool off the house. We slept like so well. The next morning while gazing at all the snow, I picked bananas and other fruits from the greenhouse and made a fruit salad for our breakfast! I love Earthships!

the problem with earth ships is that it takes quite alot of manpower to build one if you tried to make them commercially they would cut so many corners and cost and exorbitant amount of money making them totally unviable. They are products of love and each one is Unique! with improvements from the previous one (specially if you use the group from NM)

You should check out homestead heritage in Elm Mott Texas. The were formerly based out of Colorado and when they were in Colorado they were truly 100%self sustainable. Farmed with horses and grew and put up all their own food. Now they are in the 2nd and 3rd generation and they are a bit more modern but what is so remarkable is that they are in the 3rd generation and still going strong. The other thing of note is the quality of the things they make by hand as well as the many classes they teach. Definitely worth checking out.

The human being is already the highest technology on the planet and in all likelihood the universe; have you read the user's manual? I'd put the one that also manages to produce more than 75% of its food at the top of 'off grid' lifestyles. I'm 65 yrs of age and was just reflecting on how many tyres I've junked during my lifetime. I suspect it's not enough to build a house. Of course once it's up it should be there for more than one lifetime. In that respect turning the least biodegradable junk into houses is an inspiring idea for now. However one can't forget as a sustainable way of life, it needs junk producers who are somehow managing to drive about in cars and wear out tyres they can afford to throw away. All off griders use plastic pipes, solar panels and metal tools, yet none of then pump oil or mine metal. One can only get so far off the 'grid' or network of human specialisation without drastically limiting ones choices. Even Hunter gatherers who have had sustainable lifestyles for several 100 thousand years are tied into obligations to each other. Obligations which give them far les 'wiggle' room in how they execute them. It's perhaps more helpful to set out from the realisation one can't be totally off the grid of human specialisation, our range of choices are always limited by those of others. Rather than saying 'X' choices are right and 'Y' are wrong we might be better to think about how we can get all our choices to fit together in sustainable ways.

Hello there, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing ever in your life. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. John 1:12 says: "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?
