There is a market for the X6, a lot of my friends think the x6 looks good. Its like G wagon, no one is taking them off-road, BMW took the approach even further by not making them purely off-road focus but also taking the practicality with it for the sake of looking cool or different... Its a status symbol for buyers to have something like an X6, G wagon, urus.. strange to us but cool to them.

4 Series Coupe is a great looking car. The 4 door version pretty good too. I also like the look of the X4 and X6. Not everyone who wants an SUV needs a boxy body shape to maximise space. I live on a gravel road and a high performance SUV is ideal for me.

Wonderful video. In my opinion BMW has been playing a very long elaborate practical joke on its customers. They used to make good vehicles; then they decided to start making them ugly and less reliable. They kept selling them. Next they decided to make them horribly unreliable and stupid ugly. And more expensive. People kept buying them. Along the way they became boring to drive. People kept buying them. Then they decided to see if they could make the absolute ugliest grills possible. Many say they succeeded. Apparently people keep buying them. Looks like they get the last laugh except for those of us who laughed at the whole thing.

Great to see 4GC, X4 and X6 make it to the list. As they mean to be the niche models, that should only appreciate by the selected fews. As a F36 owner I'd hate to see F36 everywhere like a F30...

I haven't seen one in person, but the pictures and videos prove that the first gen 4 series is a good looking car. The current generation threw most of that stunning styling away unfortunately.

I know I'm probably going going to get lynched for saying this but in my opinion the most overrated BMWs are the i series. The i8 looks like a knock off of a McLaren the i3 looks like the bastard child of a 1 series and an X5 and while they all may be hybrid or electric or other alternative fuels for what you pay for them it'd be better to buy a petrol or diesel alternative as you'd still get the same amount of fun and they'd be cheaper to own and maintain in the long run. Probably comes of as harsh but that's just my opinion of them. Good video guys and I thought Adam was going to pop a blood vessel there for a moment with how animated he was getting when talking about the X4 and X6 lol 😆 🤣. Be good too see you guys do a list of most underrated and overrated car brands for each category of cars (e.g. forbie, utes, luxury etc) as what might be overrated in one category may be underrated in another. Got the shirts,keyring and sticker today and going rhe wear the shirts with pride and saving the sticker for a special occasion lol. I would have to say the 3 or 5 series GT cars as I clearly don’t understand why they are in existence. However when it comes to the X6 that’s a very nice vehicle (only in M version). As a single person it has plenty of room and I don’t have to drive around a boring box looking SUV.

Never owned a BMW. I used to admire them in the 90's and early 2000's as being well built, reliable and nicely designed vehicles. But could never justify the cost of buying and owning one. The BMW 3 or 5 series back then that I could maybe afford to run in the UK at a stretch was the 4 cylinder versions which in my opinion are not really worth the premium over a 4 cylinder VW Passat or Mondeo of the time. BMW performance cars back then (and now) were something to behold compared to the competition, but very expensive. That X6 is one ugly looking SOB 😅☺️😂.

@@kjm3672 Wrong. Can’t blame screens for a choice to use unreliable mechanical and electrical components. German cars stopped being reliable by the late 90s, well before screens. Japanese cars are reliable to this day even while having 2022 levels of tech, it’s not an excuse.

BMW SUV's in general are pretty overrated in my opinion and I agree on the lower spec 1 Series! If you're buying a base Euro hatch from BMW, Mercedes, etc, chances are that your buying it for the badge to impress people... Back to overrated BMW SUV's, the X1 doesn't really have much to do with "The ultimate driving machine" and what even is the X2 for? Great video 👍

I believe the only reason why the X1 and X2, as well as the 1 and 2 series exist, is just to get younger buyers to the brand...which is what all the other premium and luxury brands are doing. Such that if they own the X1 for a while and they need something bigger, or have more money to spend, or both, they'll want to stay within the brand and get the X3...provided they had a pleasant experience with their cars.

I had e60 530i. using oil and water by 125k. Many other expensive problems. Nice to drive I must say. I figured best to sell it before it cost more than the car was worth to fix. Stuck it on market place for 5k, I could have sold it a hundred times. I was relieved when I saw it drive away.

Have you maintained it every 10,000km? These engines are usually robust and they don't really use oil if they've been well maintained... How much did you buy it for because the previous owner may have neglected it...

@@MartinJones123 when I got the car it had 55k on. It was like a brand new car. Always serviced. Within the first week of my ownership the gearbox crapped it self. In the six years I owned it I got stuck on the side of the road twice, not including the gearbox malfunction which allowed me to limp home. I drove this car very carefully and always looked after it. When I sold it, it was still immaculate. The last straw was oil leaking on the exhaust and smoke coming from under the bonnet. I spent $850 getting that fixed and never drove it again. All I can say is. Never Never again I will buy a BMW. This car cost $109k new. I paid $30k and sold it for 5k. What a way to burn 🔥 up money.

@@MartinJones123 hm a shocking amount of these German cars happen to be “lemons”… let’s call it for what it is - unreliable. Put it next to a Lexus… Far lower failure rate. It’s across the board, not just in the luxury segment. An older Corolla or Mazda3 will easily outlive a Golf of the same vintage, hence why you see so few left on the road of the latter.

@@User-cb4jm I totally agree, Lexus is a better brand when it comes to reliability...But the M54's and N52's are some of the most reliable BMW engines and only suffer from cooling system issues if maintained properly, or if it isn't a Lemon...

In Germany I wouldn't say the 4 series is overrated. It is just nothing for a gearhead. The statistics say here that overall the 4 series are just 3 series cars with less electronical issues throughout the generations.

Back in the days when Liberty was a cool and fun car to drive. No wonder Subaru Australia has discontinued the series as the new ones are just too boring, slow and hideous to look at. I have the 2014 model and its the biggest regret of my life 🤦‍♂️

Hurt my feelings with the F36 inclusion. I understand and agree with the dislike of the revised G-Series grill, but I honestly think the 435/440i are beautiful cars that have much better design than the 3 series from every angle. Liftback adds utility without needing an SUV and where Tourings are unavailable or impossible to find in some parts of the world. The naming convention is weird - but I honestly can't see how anyone can say the F Chassis 4 Series is unattractive or underperforming... eye of the beholder I suppose, but HARD disagree regardless.

I was thinking of getting a 30d X5 to compare it with my V8 and decide which one I wanna keep. Both being post facelift models of course the 2005-2006 deisel lost the EGR and was both faster and more reliable. I love the V8 but the fuel consumption and lack of opportunities to use the power it has does sour the driving experience slightly. The diesel is supposedly about 200% less of a money pit so I may end up making the switch once I've had my fun with the V8.

Baby coming soon, have a dog too so was looking seriously at the 4 series Gran Coupe in 2017-2018 form. Mostly cause it seems like a rather practical car and I don't find it ugly (maybe because I never had any emotional attachment to BMW's as I've never owned one, so I don't automatically compare everything to 3 and 5 series classics). How are these in terms of reliability and ownership? What's a decent reliable engine to get? I definitely don't care about performance, more that it's smooth and reliable/cheaper to maintain and run.

working in a caryard, bmws are heavily neglected hampering performance of a car sometimes even halving the power and I have no doubt that opinions formed about the diesel e53 x5 is because of accumulated stupidity starting from "oh thats just what diesels are like" to others that give it a go and then say "this x5 diesel sucks". the torque on it mated with the size of the car is a very good match while saving costs especially nowadays.. it of course has a lot of pedal input lag from the electronic throttle body but a $200 modification fixes it completely.

Can't disagree more with the 4 Series GC -- it's a car for every occasion for those who don't have the space for multiple cars. A sporty coupe for the B roads, and enough rear cabin/boot space to move house in - I've done it! Plus I personally think it looks sharper than the 2 door coupe (F series at least, not so keen on the new G series model). They get loads of extra kit over the standard 3 and 4 series here in the UK (electric tailgate, widescreen iDrive, electric seats on M Sport). I've got a 430d too, so 6-cyl diesel power alongside 50mpg fuel economy. The 2 Series GC is a more worthy overrated BMW -- loses all the benefits of the 4 Series and looks ugly as sin in my opinion.
