Hey man love the videos. Really enjoy your hardscaping experience/advice. We really love the Herring Bone pattern as well for brick pavers. One thing on random layout - expect more cuts. We typically do like patterns to work around the lay pattern and reduce cuts in general (for non-organic layouts).

Fun video! Herringbone thankfully will never go out of style, love it! I agree that going to a 45' herringbone is super sharp, just more cuts. I agree that the beauty of pavers is the creativity and its fun when homeowners give you the business room to surprise them with your creative thoughts. You excited for this season? Got some new jobs you're pumped about?!

Agreed! Definitely, looking forward to some especially some in the pipeline that I hope we can close shortly. What about yourself?

Good informative video. I saw a lot of flaws in the paver patios and walkways you showed, mostly heaves and haws in base prep was lacking but to a homeowner they'll look great. Thanks for the video.

hmmm. a lot of the patterns shown were just on display at our supplier as we mostly lay random. base prep all i see in the video is on synthetic so don't know what is lacking there. But thanks for the comment and watching!

Yeah I took icpi some years back. In Icpi they always suggest to use a herringbone pattern on a driveway because of the strength it has.

Really enjoyed the video! May I know what type of paver you used in the video around 6:18 and 7:07? Thanks!

Thank you! at 6:18 it is Techo-Bloc Blu 60 Shale Grey and at 7:07 is a discontinued product, I was doing a lift and re-lay of that patio.

I'm having a hard time aligning the border with the herring bone pattern with rumbled cocoa brick pavers. Any advice on what to do so that the border is aligned with the interior herringbone pattern?
@iamahardscaper
@iamahardscaper 2 ай бұрын
If you are using two different pavers and they are not modular then they won’t align (I think this is what you are referring to). In that case there is nothing you can do. Just see the border as something separate from the field pavers.

Helpful as I was considering herringbone for my 150' driveway and wanted superior strength. Have you had experience with herringbone/bricks and hydronic heated driveways (why I need strength)? Thinking about doing Pavers (over) HPB+sand to fill air gaps (over) geotextile (over) pex tubes (over) nonwoven fabric (over) foam board (over) clean aggregate (over) geotextile / nonwoven (over) subbase. Would love to hear your experience over tubes or ideas
@iamahardscaper
@iamahardscaper Жыл бұрын
No experience with that application unfortunately. But don’t mix HPB with sand. Use one or the other depending on your joint width. Sand works better for small joints. If foam board you are referring to is paver base panels, they aren’t rated for driveways. But there is a product called easyClickBase you should check out. They would also be able to tell you how the install would work with heated application.

Can I ask a question? I have 6 posts in the way of a 500 s.f. patio Using random ashlar pattern. How do I start and lay around posts. They are2x2 feet wide.
@iamahardscaper
@iamahardscaper Жыл бұрын
You would lay to the posts as close as you can and then cut pieces around the posts.

Thanks. Where can I find guidance on installing a random ashlar pattern
@iamahardscaper
@iamahardscaper Жыл бұрын
whatever paver you choose, you should be able to find all the patterns from the manufacturer. Google the name of the paver and manufacturer, and there should be the patterns. or you can Google ashlar pattern for pavers for a diagram as well

@@iamahardscaper Thanks! I'm in California and to give you a feel the cost for them is $11.71 a sq ft and they come 22pc/pallett. Lead time for them are 4-6 weeks. Significantly more expensive than the competition for similar slabs.
