The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

I've watched Kobe his entire career, which most of it, I swear he had the best footwork in the post, ever. ...until I see extensive Jordan footage. I watch hours worth of Jordan footage and realized that Jordan used to do the SAME exact moves Kobe used to do but WAY FASTER AND MORE FLUENT. Also, Jordan even used to do post moves l've NEVER seen Kobe do. To have Kobe ahead of Jordan in the post is a crime and scream fanboy shit. As Kenny Smith and Jerry West says: "Michael Jordan is the greatest post player ever".

Tim Duncan won more then Dirk without being a sniper, he dominated offensively in the post without being particularly athletic, he took it to prime Shaq, all because of his elite and methodical foot work. Not that Dirk is undeserving, but I would have taken Timmy instead

I'm okay with the list as you presented it. I expected MJ to be higher, but I know that Hakeem was going to be in slot #1, and once it was all said and done, I couldn't argue too much. You should consider doing one for each of the decades where you have enough footage to do so.

Bruh, Jordan footwork is as good as footwork can be in basketball. He was 6'6 and dominated with a post game in the block like a center used to. What are we talking about? I think footwork should be separated into two categories, the range of footwork and the depth of footwork. You can have the widest range of different footwork in your bag but if you dont have the athleticism to carry it out perfectly, it doesnt work as smooth. For example, Kobe learnt many different moves from different legends, but his first step, agility and leaping ability were average or slightly above average at best. That is why MJ could perform those moves much sharper than Kobe did. This applies to other aspects of the game as well, no matter how well Kobe executed those moves, the separation was frankly little, which was a far cry from the separation MJ created. Kobe most of the time, through his sharp focus, willed the ball in.

.i think you have the same issues... i dont know think you can adequately compare eras... i think you have early era pre merger... post merger until 2003 or 4 and then last 20.... you could break it down more but i think that works... because rules or adherence to rules significantly changed in these times... you cant compare what Isaiah did in the 80s while still being forced to mostly keep the hand on top... to today where palming and carrying are allowed at will... its such a big difference that almost NO ONE mentions... however players played when they played so they shouldn't be penalized or glorified based on when they played... rank them for their era... compare goats of eras... explain the differences of the era and then let people make an argument based on all the facts ... fans today have very little historical knowledge or reference to how things have changed..

You know, Harden should be in the top 10, imo. I know people will think inmediately about the travel stepback, but hear me out😅. If you see his eurosteps and stepbacks from 2015-2018 (before he eliminated completely those midrange stepbacks, because of D'Antoni) Harden was able to use his footwork to pull up a midrange stepback jumper, or lose his defender and drive to the basket, when he perfected the eurostep, like, the only option you have is foul him while he is in shooting motion, and if you dont do it, he will score the lay up or pass it to a wide open teammate. Harden literally threated the basket like a chess king and he sooner or later he will checkmate, with his strategic footwork. I know in the playoffs he kinda choke and struggled a lot of times because refs were not buying his tricks to get a foul, but Harden as a season performer, his prime footwork was impeccable.

Harden is arguably the best space-creator ever. Can also cross up and blow by defenders with ease. He’s not known for being super fast or athletic, it’s mostly footwork and being crafty

It might be a weird list to make but I would love your thoughts on which players you think had the best body control in NBA history?

I'm surprised Luka Doncic is not among the honorable mentions. His footwork is a big reason for why his slow playstyle works

Kobe merged MJ's and Dream's footwork and angles to distort perceived reality. I know it sounds weird, but just look at Kobe's feet position versus his upper body in his post highlights. He'll give you a look like "no way he squaring up from here" only to have his base poised to shoot from a different angle. You can't watch the base AND the square at the same time.

I agree Kobe's footwork was an improvement on MJ's. Curry is an honorable mention imo because I've watched plenty of footage of how efficiently he prepares his feet to shoot after running so much off-ball. Hardly ever looks off-balance when he shoots and that's because he's mastered his footwork. His footwork is a big part of his tight crisp handles too.

LOL That is false...MJ was the more effective, efficient and productive player it shows in his performance.

@@jasonhearn5818 Good point, MJ was physically efficient at getting to his spots and open looks at the basket. Not a lot of wasted movement. I guess what I meant for Kobe was I see him use his footwork to get looks at the basket that I never saw Jordan use. By the eye test his game was subtly different from Jordan's, even if he borrowed a lot from him.

my top 5: also remember footwork is a part of defense, dribbling and even jumpshot if u hoop forreal u know this its rlly in every aspect of the game not just post work so heres the list 1. Hakeem (hes literally called the dream and has a badge in 2k for post work) no questions asked all the greats come to this man to take their footwork to the next level. 2. Kobe, this man can COOK u w his footwork alone no dribbling needed and add in his footwork and stability to hit the jumpers he does, like to be able to pumpfake defenders out of exsistence like 80 times hit the shot and no travel is amazing he is literally RIGHT below dreamshake 3. Kyrie: Ive heard many players talk about how he has the greatest handles of all time not just bc of his security,strength/stability and bag but also his footwork, to be able to trick u into thinking he going this way using his body eyes and feet then crossover into a spin off a help defender then bring it up strong two hands off both feet into a bigs chest and then change it OFFHAND finish for and and-1? Kyrie is one of one skill besides Kobe. This is CRAZY footwork and balance. Crime he wasnt included in this list. Ky also studied off of kob. 4. MJ: He just had everything down pat. Solid handle he could get where he wanted to go with a crazy first step and stable strength. All of the post moves except for really a post hook but hes not a big man so really just below guys like kyrie and kobe. 5. Kevin Mchale: This man was called the torture chamber and is just a bit below these guys still amazing thought that footwork combined with length and great touch hes basically white hakeem not to dumb it down but as a compliment he just wasnt as athletic as dream and was a slightly worse defender still great tho. That wingspan is crazy though so theres my top 5 gimmie yours now.
