Coronet Garchomp - represents Cynthia, the most popular champion and is overall just way too iconic Rotom - represents the Old Chateau, a very memorable location and it had a fun gimmick to switch forms in Platinum Giratina - represents the Distortion World, the best showcase of Pokemon jumping into a 3D environment Honorable mentions: Carnivine for the Great Marsh, Lucario, Arceus because he's god Gen 5: Victini - gen 5's semi-mascot, found in the Liberty Garden and represents New York City (aka Castelia) Zoroark - memorable pokemon with a fun gimmick, it was the first revealed gen 5 pokemon and it's related to N Musharna - represents the Dream World and the Entralink Sawsbuck - seasons Volcarona - memorable overworld encounter in BW2, related to Alder and the Relic Castle HMs: maybe Kyurem, something to represent Triple and Rotation battles Gen 6: Vivillon - represents the international side of Pokemon with the many different forms found throughout the world and the connection between the players through the PSS Floette - the new Fairy type's first introduction, picked because of its relation to AZ Mega Lucario - representing Mega Evolution, you're literally given one and forced to fight one in a scripted battle Furfrou - France? Malamar - represents Inverse Battles, idk I'm kinda reaching here HM: maybe Sylveon, Gogoat for Gogoat Taxi representing Lumiouse City

I initially planned to include Gen 3 in this list as well, but didn't want the video to run on for so long. We definitely have at least one pick in common! ...but now that I'm looking at my notes, I don't think the document saved which already had it scripted out :/ I haven't spent as much time in the future generations yet, but my initial notes for "in-game playthrough teams" might actually help. Without as much reliance on HMs in future generations, I was able to start picking Pokémon for thematic cohesion rather than just field move coverage. I'll also say for sure the first Pokémon that comes to mind for Kalos is Vivillon, so it's neat to see it was your first pick too.

For Kanto, Porygon could fit in at #5, but without Porygon2, it lacks half of what my current pick does. And there's not really much about Porygon2 that screams "Johto" to me. There's a theme of the past and present (Goldenrod vs Ecruteak), but they aren't really leaping into the future as a region. I do think Porygon2 would go on an overall Top 10 list to represent the franchise, though.
