Ive been playing NLHE for 4 years and recently started playing PLO. I have made all of these mistakes and more. Folding every hand except the rare one that wins is the best way to break even in PLO. Not playing at all also works😀

Please keep the plo advice coming!! Most of the home games are switching to plo. More action, bigger pots and unfortunately more rake for game runner. But it is what is. Enjoying all your contents so far!!

I play a regular holdem game on an app with mates. We have decided to play a £5 PLO rebuy next time out to introduce everyone to the game. I expect absolute carnage and all those 5 overplayed hands to feature but ill send them the link to your video so I can say “Phil told you so” after the game:-). Thanks for the great content!

The most mistakenly and overplayed hand category in micro and low stakes in my opinion is double suited mid rundowns. People love to 3bet stuff like 9876ds but in the micros people will simply cold call a 14bb 3bet behind you with no money invested in the hand previously so your goal of 3betting to isolate so that your suits play better heads up rarely works and all you usually end up doing is bloating the pot multiway and shrinking the SPR with a hand that has trouble making the nuts. Those hands in multiway pots are only able to stick a lot of money in with the nut straight plus a flush redraw which is rare, oftentimes the naked nut straight is going to just be a flat call anyway unless stacks are shallow. In the micros be especially stingy and selective and stick to high pairs, connectivity and nut/2nd nut suits. Also, be thoughtful about why you're 3betting and what your goal is because in the micros rundowns aren't a great choice, and try and push raw equity while also picking hand combinations that flop well.

Agreed! The looser the game is, the more important it is to be drawing to nut & 2nd nut straights and flushes.

It's better in loose games to have an Ace blocker in your DS rundowns. In PLO I just go aggro with all the A high DS rundowns. Then Jesus take the wheel afterwards

I have spent the majority of my poker life playing PLOH8 and have been playing some PLO as of late. The not playing bad flushes was never an issue as anything but the nut flush in 8 is trash. Now my biggest hole is my tendency to play hands in the lower end of the deck. 3456 and things like that. Too many times this is win little pots lose big pots.

I do like top 2 pair with better 2 pair draws and especially with a rainbow (maybe with backdoor flushes, backdoor straights). I love betting hard with a Ac 8d 4s flop with Ad Ks Jd 8s. Like ALL PLO advise, it depends.

I hate KKxx unless it is really high quality such as KKJT with a suit or two. I see people raise or call raises with hands like KsKcJc4d a lot. This seems barely better than set mining. If you get the nut flush draw, you KK is trash due to the ace on board. With this kind of hand you almost never flop a 2+ way hand. Drawing to the flush and your KK overpair seems good, but is it really. You can lose to AA and lose to the nut flush. So while KKJ4 with a K high flush can dominate some lesser hands heads up, it seems like weak garbage in multiway pots with any kind of action. And while flopping top set is nice, this particular hand has damn near no redraws unless the flop has a king and two clubs. Are there any vlogs that really go into the proper way to play mediocre (and even good) kings pre flop. As for bad kings like KsKc9d5d, I just FOLD these hands unless i am on the button and expect a limped pot. Is this too tight?
